Thinking of picking up a SD 552, Maxx or Nomad

I see what you mean. Though I do not qualify those posts as that. Maybe it's me and I just filter the messages like that -
Thinking of picking up a SD 552, Maxx or Nomad
Vincent R. replied to MultitrackPat's topic in Equipment
Personally I like that the people behind the products discuss and talk with us on the forum. It would be different if it was one way only, but history shows that Glenn among the others uses this forum as it is intended, to debate. -
Hiding Lavs on Non-professionals - Corporate Shoot
Vincent R. replied to David A-Ribeiro's topic in General Discussion
Indeed explain more what you do. I did a lot of wiring inexperienced people, even on bras, g-strings (TX...) and whatever more. Just be quick, explain well what you do,ale a quick joke and that's about it I guess. Oh maybe be a bit more aware if they go to the washroom... -
In theory all if the math works out. That is, A * V = W(att)h. So if you say your 788 uses one NP1 for a whole day shoot, everything else connected to the same supply will inevitably cut time from that. How much? Again, depends on the A * V = W sum. So it depends. Hawks Woods makes nice Apple magsafe adapters by the way. To use with 12/14.4 volt solutions.

Hiding Lavs on Non-professionals - Corporate Shoot
Vincent R. replied to David A-Ribeiro's topic in General Discussion
I don't get why there is a significant difference between wiring an actor or a non-actor invisible. Essentially it's exactly the same. At least that's how I approach it. -
Any news from the sound devices other then new Pix?
Vincent R. replied to RadoStefanov's topic in Current
Hey look what i found; Dutch professional audio dealer AEM organises a small get together during IBC with some interesting speakers. Among them SD's Paul Isaacs. The text on the invitation website is quite teasing, I quote: "About Sound Devices newest ....." I almost asume it must be sound related since the organiser is an audio dealer...? I put it through Google translate for you guys: http://translate.goo...ion%3D.&act=url -
Red Epic Time code in.
Vincent R. replied to Malcolm Davies Amps CAS's topic in Cameras... love them, hate them
yeup, same with the Scarlet here the other week. Reds decision to "think differently". Rental company who provided the camera was aware of this "flaw" and therefore it came with a proper cable along. -
$76 BILLION in cash. Still no dividend?
Vincent R. replied to studiomprd's topic in All Things Apple
And don't forget the split a couple of years ago, in two. So basically that 9 dollar stock of your friend is worth 2x660=1320 right now... Now what if he invested about a grand in it... anyways, I did the same, bought for I think 18 dollars, sold for about 200. After the split. Made a good deal, I thought back then. I kept one stock from that batch, for fun. -

600 Mah rechargable 9v batteries, anyone tried them yet?
Vincent R. replied to Jon Gilbert's topic in Equipment
Okay, Battery in TX died after 8+ hours straight use. For comparison, iPower batts goes about 6+ hours straight in the same TX. So i'm quite pleased with it. Now see if they hold up along the way after some cycles... -
600 Mah rechargable 9v batteries, anyone tried them yet?
Vincent R. replied to Jon Gilbert's topic in Equipment
Little update: They arrived and I used them on a shoot yesterday. I've a Micron Wireless system, The TX was on and off a couple of times so can not really tell how long they last in a real world situation, though it lasted for the whole shoot. But now I'm doing a test at home, RX went off after 6 hours and TX is still running now, so at least 6 hours+ continuous. -
Red Scarlet timecode input
Vincent R. replied to chrisnewton's topic in Cameras... love them, hate them
I just finished a shoot today with a Scarlett. 744 to lockit and all went well. Though, AC connected the lockit first to a home made device from the rental company before going into the Red. He couldn't tell me what the box did, only that it is needed with the lockit. His words. You guys now anything about that? Maybe a signal reducer of some sort? Pic doesn't tell; -
Cool! You actually use it like that?

Then Glenn probably can tell us more. -
Dug up this old thread: I got a nice deal on a second hand Portabrace AH3, an offer i couldn't refuse, to sort of speak. Small catch was that it didn't come with the buckle straps, the one, over the chest, and the ones from the vest to the bag. But that i can figure out by looking for something her in town. The only thing I can not tell how it works is the lower part. There are two carabiners on the belt. I'm used to the buckles on the Petrol. Does the AH3 just works with the carabiners or is there a part missing as well? It works, but is a bit more cumbersome. The pictures on the Portabrace site are not that clear about this. You see: portabrace pic just stops there where i wanted to look...:

Here in the Netherlands it's 30 days by law. If not payed then, you can send and invoice with interest. Some do that, some don't. I did it sometimes. Now my strategy is that I call up, ask where it is. If they say I have to wait I answer sure, then interest will follow. If they say it's coming now I say okay, I'll call back the day after tomorrow if I haven't receive it by then. All with a friendly tone of voice of course. This has nothing to do with loosing clients or whatsoever, this is just doing business. Again, tone of voice is key.

Anyone here got a damaged or broken case? Other words: is it needed?
-
Voice Technologies claims that their "new" shotgun mic is designed to match the lavs they sell. I'm a bit sceptic about this, especially since that particular new shotgun is about the same as the one PSC sells for years now. As revealed in another thread here on the board.

I believe you need a "special" tool for them. So don't forget to order that..

Not trying to make this a zaxcom thread, but since your mentioning it here: if I read the reports here on board, how do you deal with the short range of zaxnet? Especially for the directors IFB.
