  1. I did this once, not with the countries involved in your case, but similar cross country non payment issue. The tread alone (claiming ownership since nothing payed, thus the copyright holder) was enough for them to pay it promptly. My "secret weapon" was that I knew all the film boards and other finances that backed up the movie, so i made it very clear that the next communique would be CC-ed to all those boards, mentioning that the sound was not being paid for, this not legal to use.

  2. Hi Matt, I talked about this with DPA; They acknowledged to me that this can be an issue due to the BT transmission, for remote control and TC,  the Theos DBTX has, and the less ideal shielding of the 4061. The Wisycom MTP 60 and 61, as well as the Tentacle Track E (both having BT TRX on board) have (sometimes) the same issue with these mics. One of our end users got one 4060 with this issue, and another not. He could send the one causing issues back to DPA for a replacement.

    2 weeks later ...

Did the beta installer still work today? Did the program?

I'm just wondering because I got an email saying it was 'timed out' perhaps yesterday (at least my $29 coupon for 'Clear' timed out) and I never got it (the beta) to work on the older platform I was using at the time I downloaded it (I was thinking to try it out later on something else).

    cheers

Nope, this is what you get now when you open it:

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share a bug I found on TC-1. User bits set in Sidus Audio app are being output in the reverse order.

For example, if you set UB to yy:mm:dd:uu in the app, TC-1 will output uu:dd:mm:yy. Confirmed with Zoom F8n Pro and Tentacle Sync E.

Not sure if this issue is with the TC-1 or Sidus Audio app.

Did anyone notice this as well?

Hi @EMP, confirmed. We are working on it, we have a solution already, final stages of testing at the moment.

Curious how many of you guys have gone through the various online training programs Audinate offers?

I have all 3; level 3 is really hardcore network stuff. I would say 1 and 2 is more than enough for location sound, 3 if you need to rig up complete congress centres, tv station networks or other large interconnecting projects/setups.

  6. I did a quick 'n dirty walk test on the IBC show floor. Walking around Hall 8 (Audio hall) with the prototype DLTX (Lemo in, Phantom power out). S-Mic 2 on a pole about 30 cm/1 feet above the head. Hard- and firmware not finished, but it gives a good impression. Note; this is with the non diversity prototype D2RX (receiver).
(Vid details; Audio you hear is being transmitted back to the recorder, video is iPhone. audio and video synced in post. No other adjustments to the audio being made, straight recording from the D2RX out, into the Mixpre 10).

Actually Deity licensed several patents from Zaxcom, so they can record and transmit without legal trouble.

This is regarding the legacy BP-TRX units. The Theos system is not falling under this agreement.

However, garbage-fueled power plants are not a clean energy source. Some opponents claim these power plants are a “false solution” that green-washes dirty incineration.

“The process of burning trash is inherently polluting,” said Leah Kelly, senior attorney with the Environmental Integrity Project, a nonprofit based in Washington. “You can put state-of-the-art pollution controls on an incinerator in the same way that you can a coal plant, but that doesn’t make the facility clean.”

Flue gases leave behind heavy metals and other toxins that comprise about 4 percent of residue, according to a report from Avfall Sverige.

This must be cleaned out during periodic maintenance and treated and disposed of safely. Flue gas residue from Tekniska Verken’s power plant is stored in an abandoned lime mine in Norway. Another residue called slag, composed of the remnants of glass, porcelain, gravel and other material can be used to cover landfills and build roads.

Critics also warn that these power plants discourage reducing and recycling waste, and also detract from investment in renewable energy like solar and wind.

We use the Manfrotto Nano stands a lot in the field, but I’ve never seen one with an integrated boom. I don’t see one in the catalog or on B&H.

This one, I use it for field recordings, but i thought it could be handy to quickly have a spare boom pole. not the best pole, but handy as a spare: https://www.manfrotto.com/nl-en/carbon-nanopole-stand-ms0490c/

When powering it with my 65W Magsafe-USB-C it shows it's only getting 9V, which is not enough for my DADM226.

I don't know why it is like that, because the Magsafe is supposed to deliver also 12V or more.

For some reason the Apple power bricks excluded the in between steps that is needed for the SPD-1. Therefore indeed it defaults back to the 9v.
Make sure the USB supply is specced with Qualcomm Quick charge 3 or higher. I have Used chargers from Belkin, the German Hama and Anker with these specs. All with success.

Per example, this one from Hama I Use/tested:

And: Is there a way to set USB-C to first priority power? When I attach USB-C and a smart battery simultaniously it first drains the battery and then switches to USB-C.

No, it takes the highest voltage first.

And, yes, running my recorder as master clock is essential for me; I have other timecode devices jamming via Zaxnet, which acquire timecode automatically from the recorder, so it's not a good workflow to risk jumps in timecode on that device every time I have to re-jam.

Gotcha. let me see what we can do to make it as few steps as possible.

I had a few instances while I was learning the system where I thought I'd jammed the master but the app decided to make a different device the master and when I hit sync, they would all end up in sync with each other, but out of sync with my recorder.

It auto selects indeed a device as master. but you can override that, click on the 3 dots and the propt will come. It will keep that device as the master reference, till it can not find it anymore (for example turned off, or out of range) . See screenshot for example:

Ideally for me, a box set to "master" could be externally jammed if a TC signal was present on boot (the defacto "standard" jamming method that Denecke has used for decades, and which works with most other boxes).  This would eliminate the need to switch back and forth between "autojam" and "master" in the menu, and make it less error prone to jam the other boxes from it if I forget to switch back to "master" after jamming.

Feedback noted. As you said in the first post indeed the primal intended use and design of the tc-1 was that "we" are providing the master clock to everything on set, much like for example with a Sync-E. But you are not the first with the feedback of wanting the Recorder as the master (a lot actually). So although it is possible already, we can always try to make this more easier.

    Also; when you do it as follow;
-Jam the device in "auto jam mode" to recorder
-go to app, and set it as master (if it isnt already)
-jam the rest from the devices via the app

That way the app takes care of the "menu setting" in that specific TC-1 you used to jam from.

which is a bit of a different approach from running the recorder as master clock.  You can do it, but jamming isn't quite as straightforward.

    I am sure you know it, but just in case;
The most straight forward way to have your recorder as the master and the TC-1s as followers is:
-Connect 1 TC one to your recorder of choice - set on device the mode to "Auto Jam". It will receive the TC.
-From then on, you have 3 options:
    1. Go to the app, select that device you just synced up with the recorder as the master, and jam the other units from that one.
    2. Set the unit you just jammed back to master (it keeps the jammed signal), and push a "sync" from the device itself to the other units.
    3. Jam each individual TC1 like that from the recorder (or from the first jammed device, by trs-cable).

Feedback is always welcome, so if you have a suggestion of an different approach, please let me know. I have to say upfront that "live" continuously updating TC over RF is deliberately not in the design/ scope of these devices though.

@Vincent R. It works, it seems.

That said, when moving it from one USB-C port to another I was forced to delete the interface and recreate it. Otherwise it was unable to achieve clock lock.

I have made the test connected to a 2010 Mac Pro running Mojave through a direct cable, dedicated interface (no switches messing around).

Latency is good. iperf throughput is as it should.

But it was trickier to make it work, being USB-C. Curiously latency with the Thunderbolt adapter is a bit higher. But seems to be more solid.  I mean, I had to do some voodoo macumba in order to make the hub work, deleting the interface and recreating again when I changed USB ports. Otherwise it would not achieve lock.

    Thanks for checking it out.

I have tried a different device. This is a UGreen adapter that includes HDMI, a USB-C port, two USB-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet.

The chipset is identifed as AX88179A, and the iperf3 test looks good as well.

A bit more packet loss than the Thunderbolt adapter but not bad anyway.

Is it this one? I need to grab an Ethernet adapter for Dante as well, and this actually looks like a decent candidate that can save me from carrying multiple dongles in my bag
