  1. I'll accept a clients kit, but charge 2-3 labor days of setup, repair, and troubleshooting prior to the shoot day.
  2. I'm hoping that one will be able to hook a pair (or more) QRX's via the USB daisy chain and allow them to send any frequency changes through the nomad's IFB/zaxnet.
  3. Add a line item to your invoice to cover your insurance cost for the shoot, and a line stating that the client is responsible for any loss or theft payable within 7 days of notification.
  4. I just started doing this via a Cube through a dc powered airport on the MB cart. Then I strap an iPod touch with a joggers armband on my left inside forearm and have the feed right where I need it while booming. Has made a world of difference for me. Going to force Bernie to use it tonight, but he doesn't know that yet...
  5. You can change the frequency using the IFB100 menus, but not by just changing it on the receiver. QRX with IFB can do this because the receiver and IFB are internally connected and talk together.
  6. Sounded great! Looked like a fun gig.
  7. Just received my MB cart from Rob. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble, everything was labeled and easy to figure out. I think Rob should work as a packaging consultant, I've never seen such a great packing job that completely survived travel from AU to CN to KR to Alaska, and finally to me. Even arrived 2 days earlier than expected! Off to fill up the cart and figure out a battery solution!
  8. Much easier to rent. The cp200's are in the business band and will require a FCC license to legally operate. Rental company should have that taken care of, plus they will be programmed. Don't forget the headsets that go with.
  9. Thank you! I feel old for missing that...
  10. I've noticed in the WTB/WTS forum that folks are able to change the topic title when something sells. How is this accomplished?
  11. Just a note, I ordered up a 6 foot iPhone -> BNC cable from kvconnection. First one came in with the BNC end not crimped to the braid so the connector boot just pushed apart, and then the cable pushed out easily. They immediately sent a replacement cable, with the same issue. I sent them back, and will just order up one from my normal cable folks.
  12. I'll say A+ on support, I had barely finished typing this out and submitted when I received an email from Cliff
  13. I've reported these via the web form, though it's under feature requests. Wanted to see if someone can verify, or tell me a workaround for these: I need 12 tracks as an option, or give me the ability to add/remove number of tracks somewhere (haven't found it yet) Let me show/hide slate fields on the slate page Let me show/hide sound report fields on the sound report page Give me an option to hide "tabs", or set a device to a certain "role", so when I hand the itouch to the scripty, they won't be able to muck with camera settings or change the tracks on the sound page. A bug, on my ipad2 when I sync to clock it syncs to the hour/minute not seconds. So if you sync at 03:45:35, the clock on the device will switch to 03:46:00 at the right time, but the app will always be 35 seconds behind. Simply, the app thinks that 03:45:35=03:45:00 Another bug (ipad2), the keyboard sometimes doesn't go away when you enter production data and hit "done" with the keyboard open. This forces you to close and relaunch the app to get the keyboard to close.
  14. +1 to that, or since I'm dreaming it would take an output feed from the fusion wirelessly and auto-magically input all the notes and metadata direct into the program
  15. Just got off an Alexia shoot, and the 1st AC, Peter, was adamant you have about 15 seconds worth of "accurate" time code during a battery swap. He called and grilled Arri because what he was seeing (and post was complaining about) was different, and finally got them to admit it's just a capacitor that's holding the charge, so as time goes on things will drift. Peter said it starts to loose in the 100ths of a second immediately, and after a very short period of time things start to get off sync. Just passing info along, Peter's had a large number of Alexia shoots and I trust his word. I just synced up a lockit, and left it with the camera department to re-sync after each battery change. Worked like a champ.
  16. I'm in need of a boom op to help on the AICP/IFP/MN Film board shoot this Friday, Sept 30th. 5pm call, 1am wrap. It's a pro-bono gig (entire cast and crew is), though there is catered crafty and a ticket to the AICP show in Oct. PM for details. Joel
  17. I can't say enough good things about my Zaxcom gear and the immediate support I've had. The one major decision point between the systems "for me" was the backup recording right on the transmitter. I just don't worry as much about RF hits or talent wandering out of range behind walls as I have a "wired" recording I can access at a later point. Add in zaxnet capabilities and my inner geek was very happy. I have 4 LT's in service since they first came out, and all have been rock solid through day to day use. My only real complaint is a 3 to 3.5 hour battery life on a 2700ah AA battery. Which is solved in the slightly larger 2xAA unit.
  18. These are a list of things I ask a prospective client, usually not all at once but I keep an answer sheet of these with each project folder. It's mostly so I remember the little details and don't forget something major. Project Details Is this a booking, or just a hold? What is your audio budget for this project? What is the basic format of the project? Film, interview, ENG? Is this more of a static shoot, or run ‘n gun? What is the expected project duration? Do you need commercial radios for on-set communications? What is your expected maximum number of talent on camera requiring audio at one time? Do you want audio recorded into a camera? Do you have specific post requirements for the audio files? Have you done a location scout, or may I attend your location scout(s)? Travel Details Will there be more than an hour of travel from [My Office]? How many locations are expected? Are meals provided on-set, per-diem, or not included? If the shoot goes over 14 hours, will a hotel be provided for that day? If this is a remote location shoot, how will gear shipping and transport be handled? Technical Details Will there be accessible power on-set and off-set? Will you need on-set audio feeds for specific people? Will there be a video village setup requiring feeds or able to provide video feeds? What timecode is your project being shot at? 23.967, 24, 29.97, 30? What is your expected deliverable format? If not specified, we will submit as a broadcast wave file, 24bit, 48khz file containing all recorded tracks that most post facilities can easily import and use. If you need audio recorded into a camera: What kind and how many cameras? Will the camera audio be used as a scratch track, or the final deliverable?
  19. Works great for me now, thank you Jeff!
  20. Yes, with the same issues. According to the tapatalk forums, they have a possible beta fix, and are expecting a published release fix "soon"... http://www.tapatalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6661
  21. The mix-12 is an interface to the deva/fusion line, attached by a serial port. Think like a keyboard to your computer, but control signals are passed back and forth. All the audio connections stay on the deva/fusion, unlike a "normal" mixer.
  22. Porta makes a bag specifically for zaxcom, I got it through Gotham. The tag on the inside says model AR-DV5. Holds just the fusion but can take all their other attachments easily.
  23. I just rigged an external corner style antenna (all I had on hand) mounted on the roof of the truck in an inverted L and aimed to blanket the car, worked perfectly. Only took a couple minutes to rig up.
