Johnny, what mount and wind protection are you using on your 4018C?
-
here it is... I need to do this with my DPA4017 and 4018 header cables... apparently the B pre amp fixes this too

I got a super softie for my mkh60, and have returned it...back to the original softie. Bubblebee are now into australia so I'll get one soon

Hi Rob where, just north of canberra???

We looked at the c preamp for the 4018, super small, super light, super sound, just decided it wouldn't be rugged enough for multi user broadcast TV environment... I love the extra suck and punchy sound of the 50 over the schoeps..i used a 50 on a feature for nearly every shot ( and only 2 scenes radio miced), it was great, where as the schoeps often didn't have enough suck in comparision ..

Just did this... Looked at DPA 4018, 8050, the 50 better for handling/wind noise, mounting and wind protection options and ruggedness on the road.

I believe they were bought out by Rycote ??and then discontinued, try Rycote direct

Hi, calling all oldtimers .. I am trying to transfer a tape on an SN nagra. It plays fine with no tape loaded, but when I lace the tape up it wont play, seems to be to "heavy", there is a tape tension adjustment but it doesn't appear to do anything and the manual is very vague. Any suggestions? Thanks

Rob, great news about you being at SMPTE. Can't wait to see it. Sadly, OB's were clearing out their garage and decided that no one would have use for our VK cart... They threw it into a skip....I heard about it and the skip had gone... bastards..

as a sound man with a touch of fat bastard too (short version), I have been using petrol harness for years, very happy, but I use a separate rocket padded waist belt too, that loops thru the "belt loop' on the petrol bag.

Thanks Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo, Watching the youtube video.. Just wondering what mics you use for the car sim trav? I notice mkh50 mostly in rycote invision mounts and 8060 in house (window scene). Great thread, fabulous sound on my favourite show... Great work and it sounds like a great crew to work with. Congrats

Hi Jurg, I'd love to see some pics when you finish the mini cart...

Lightning can travel 20 miles sideways! Be extremely careful. The boom is a big lighting conductor. I have shut down 3 shoots recently due to lightning activity. Obviously beware overhead power lines too, we had a boom op in perth a few years ago hit some line and arced, the boom expolded and he got severe burns, bad enough he couldn't work on the road any more, he became a picture editor after a long rehab

Great clip, interestingly our machines are set up to operate the left hand...under, not over like in the clip... just a wiring difference? Best fun ever running these machines
