  1. I could meet up with you the week after next.
  2. Richard, In Metacorder's setup menu, set tranport control to MMC (MIDI Machine Control, for those that don't know). On the Yamaha's DIO/Setup menu, go to the midi/host page and set Machine Control to: Type: MMC Port: USB 1 Device ID: 1 On the 01V96's Utility menu, assign 3 User Defined Keys of your choice to be Record, Play, & Stop. Pressing record and play together puts Metacorder into record, pressing play will playback the last take, and pressing stop end the recording and is the same as Metacorder's Standby button. Cheers, Darren
  3. You were probably referring to BoomRecorder, but just to clarify, Metacorder can be remote rolled by the 01V96's USER DEFINED KEYS using MMC. That is how I roll every day. No Roll Logic necessary, just a USB cable. Cheers, Darren
  4. I chose the Cooltouch dual LCD's. They look great and their non-glare screens allow you to see the picture in any lighting conditions. But their main advantage is that their 7" LCD's only take up 3 rack spaces, whereas most other brands take up 4. Darren
  5. Just wanted to mention that "sectional" sound carts are not new. In fact, one of the mixers I trained under in the early 80's had a vertical cart that seperated into two halves in this way. As a result, my first cart also was built to seperate into a top and bottom half. It used four anvil case type latches to seperate the two sections along with one 4 pin XLR for power. Fully assembled, it fit just fine into the Econoline van I had at the time, but the idea was that it would be handy for use on planes, trains, and insert cars. While my current case based cart was designed to basically be able serve the same function, the reality is that I've never actually split it apart. Best, D.
  6. What the heck is a "show-off-sound-nerd" feature??
  7. A/D's are always on. There is no way to shut them off. Same for D/A's. If no one else does it first. I can make this measurement in a couple of weeks when I finish my vacation. Of course mileage may vary greatly depending on the inverter used. Best, Darren
  8. Wow Glen. I'm impressed! All good to know. I can also tell you that with a TOTALLY flat battery (as in forgot to shut off the inverter at night and arrived to a low voltage alarm in the morning), My ammeter read 13 amps. The point I was trying to make was that a single 15 amp PSU should be about enough to power almost any cart. Not every cart, but almost... Cheers, and Happy New Year to all! Darren
  9. My entire current draw varies between 9 and 10 amps, *including* charging the onboard 32ah battery. That is is the 01v96 and its associated inverter, MOTU Traveler, SD 744T, Denecke GR-1, Lectro Venue, Lectro 411, incandescent little lamp, and a 7" lcd. My cart is completely powered by a single Samlex 15amp battery charger with the exception of the Powerbook, which is AC powered as it contains its own battery backup system. So, regardless of what it states on the rear panel, it seems highly unlikely that the Yamaha is drawing anywhere near 8 amps. Possibly as a surge on start up, but even then I highly doubt it. Cheers, Darren
  10. Philip, I too, am so sorry to hear this. My computer lives on my cart full time and is tethered by a security cable. Even so I'm always fearful that somone will find it too tempting. All of my rack gear is now fastened using "tamperproof" screws and during any type of walk away, usually including lunch, I install the locking front lid on my rack as well. Hopefully whomever you were working for will cover your loss. My understanding on the Intels from David M. Is that they work fine with the exception of the timecode not showing up on the sound reports when files are dragged and dropped into a Metacorder sound roll from another machine. This works perfectly on PowerPC machines.
  11. Hi Simon, http://www.cooltouchmonitors.com/EN/products/RX-702A.html
  12. New metal Apple Wireless Keyboard is very compact. Apple wireless mouse is nice as well. I always wanted a trackball, but never found one.
  13. One for the Mini, one for the camera feed. http://www.cooltouchmonitors.com/EN/products/RX-702TA.html
  14. Hi Philip, As of late I've returned to simply clocking from the Yamaha's word clock. Spent a few years using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but now no longer bother. Motu is usually powered from the cart's 12v power. Haha... what's the world coming to when 16 rack spaces is "compact"? LOL
  15. It's a low quality iPhone photo but here it is....
  16. In the early eighties I was a mixer working with very large consoles on concert tours. I used to dismantle our mixers once a year for a good cleaning. Even at that time we were instructed by P&G themselves that their recommended safe cleaning method was to completely dismantle the faders and clean them in a mixture of dish soap and water. I remember the entire process being incredibly time consuming.
  17. It was doing muppet productions that steered me towards my 01v96. Previous to that I had to use two 8 channel mixers as 12-16 inputs is definitely not uncommon for them. I'll bet you had a blast!
  18. And of course as Noah eluded to, the script supervisor is already doing exactly that.
  19. Jeff, Metacorder also uses folders. The folders are automatically generated from the roll numbers and that roll's audio and sound reports are automatically placed in it. So, in the case of Metacorder, each soundroll or DVD or CF, (or what have you in the future) has a corresponding folder wiith the same name and same contents. As it seems to have become standard procedure, or at least very common, for the sound editorial team to never see the original media, and instead obtain their material directly from a clone of the original hard drive, my feeling is that having the discs and folders harmonized is likely helpful to post. Those with post experience, please chime in.
  20. I'm with Philip and Noah. A new disk, flash card, or whatever, is a new "roll" no matter what. Keeps things simple for everyone. Easy for post to tell if one has gone missing, etc. You're giving each disc a new name anyway, so why not just keep it simple and give it a whole new role number?
  21. Noah, please give my warmest regards to Kirk.
  22. Muppets are fun! I've done a couple of shows with them as well. Are you working on the Xmas movie they are shooting in New York?
  23. I'm not certain that 125 watts is enough to power up an 01v96. Has anyone used this inverter with the mixer?
  24. Lately I've been doing the same; experimenting with cables made by Audio Technica. The quality is high, they have a "lifetime" warranty, and are priced at half of what I could build them myself for. So far the warranty has been a non-issue as nome of them have failed.
  25. Hii Vin, I use the 1192a for mic cables, & the 1804a for cart wiring, small cabling, & pig tails.
