  1. Two questions about the AES-ins and outs of this lovey little machine: 1. Are they only direct outs or are we able to route multiple inputs/tracks to each one? 2. Is it possible to use the 4 AES ins at the same time as the 4 AES outs or are they the same connectors?
  2. Yep, that's what Im hoping for the future. Less interconnecting cables susceptible to getting damaged and different units not working properly together . Built in receivers (slot ins?), built in battery (a serious one) and built in tx Hop. One unit. With the Maxx, Zax is definitly going in a direction I like
  3. Anybody else noticed that they had the position "Audio sweetener" listed in the credits? Never heard that term before but makes sense they might need one for audio recorded in those conditions .
  4. You mean you've used it as a camera hop but not as talent mics? What I'm most curious about is if it gives you a more stable signal than using the 2000 Rxs?
  5. I remember seeing in a post a while back somebody using Sennheiser 2000 Txs with a Wisycom Rx (I think it was MCR 42). I am very curious as to how that system is performing, in range, drop outs, inter mod, audio quality and so on. Is it on par with using wisycom Txs or not as stable? I would be very interrested to hear from anybody who has used this system mash-up .
  6. I have not A / B tested my 2000s and G3s for pure quality. Maybe I should....
  7. As far as I know the 2000s can transmit the lower frequency spektrum better (Down To 25Hz I think) than G3s. But its the same compander. The main reason I use my 2000s over My G3s (I own both) is the higher transmitting power in the 2000s. It makes them more stable and give them a bit longer range.
  8. "Why?" Are you trolling me Mike? If the people who hire me and pay my invoice, loudly question and incorrectly judge me and my gear, of cause I have to explain it to them. Hehe, yeah I know what you mean. The problem is when a Dp has got a G3 of his own with the standard lav mic it comes with and then sees my 2000s with DPA lavs and think they're the same thing. I think there is a saying something like: "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing..."
  9. Once by a DP and once (another shoot) by a director. They thought I was using G3s and I had to explain the difference between G3s and 2000s (in the middle of the shoot). But, as I said before, they were very pleased with the sound in the end, so they didn't questioned me again .
  10. No, I don't think 2000 and 3000 is compatible.
  11. Don't think there is that big of a difference in the RX except balanced outputs, headphoneamp and tx batt indicator (love that one). I think the more powerfull 2000-Tx is the main reason I find that system more stable. Also the wider frequency-span can be helpfull.
  12. I've used Sen 2000s as both lavs AND stereo (dual mono... ) camera hop with great results. They are more stable than my G3s. I used them on a reality show, worked great, batteries lasts forever . I'd say the biggest con is other crew members ALWAYS mistake 2000s for G3s. Might not seem like such an issue, but I have been questioned a few times, why I brought "crappy cheap ass G3s?". Kind of a pain having to stop and explain the difference in the middle of a shoot . They were more than satisfied with the end result of the sound though, so no problemos.
  13. Where did you get the AES breakout cable? Did you make it yourself?
  14. If there is someone playing the piano, then micing close to/ or even on that person might work? If you're just recording a non-played burning piano I'd say, try placing some mics low might work, with fire going upwards.
  15. Cool build. How are you using the Rx emergency? Meaning: in what way are you connecting it?
  16. Ah, the long sought after 333..... But yeah, Maxx will fill that role nicely.
  17. In the same menu or are they automaticly routed as copies of the analog outputs?
  18. So, I've checked all the Zaxcom vids on youtube and gone through the manual up and down, but I just can't seem to find this: How and where is the AES output routing done in the Nomad?
  19. That's brilliant Pascal, really cool build. I've always wondered why no mixers/recorders ever really incooperate the battery and slot in receivers, to make one solid unit like this. Exellent work! Sound Devices or Zaxcom should hire you as a consultant for add ons and future mixers . BTW - is there any noticable RF spray effecting the Lectros due to their proximity to the mixer? I don't know if the 664 is RF spray heavy or not.
  20. Quick question on the same subject: Is the return signal mono or stereo?
  21. Seams like something went wrong with the soldering. This is how I've done it many times, with great results: Sd 302 mixer, outputs padded 6 dB - standard cl 2 cable - G3 tx -60 dB - G3 rx 0 or +12 dB, (both worked, different cameras). I know you're going through ta3, but I hope this helps.
  22. Are the TA3s connected to the ring or tip of the minijack? If I remember correctly I think Tip is Mic and Ring is Line. After some trail and error with trying both, I found the tip gave me a much cleaner signal and much better s/n ratio. Sounds like that could be the case for you too.
