  1. track names are stored in the meta-data not the file-name. there simply isn't enough room in the file name to keep the names compatible with eventual EDL workflows in post. AVID will read the track names just fine from the meta-data. I use mono too because PT can not handle poly directly and will split everything to mono on import anyway. so does avid. only FCP can play back poly directly.
  2. ever checked out the power consumption of the mix-8? I heard it's pretty high and you need seperate power. the beauty if the cl-9 is that it only need a single usb connection and no power.

    Protools v9

Lots of wrong info in this thread. Of course ADC can be turned on/off. Find the facts here: http://www.avid.com/US/products/family/Pro-Tools/compare
  4. my point wan't about cost. someone said that BNC will most likely be easier to substitute if it breaks. my point was that BNC gear is about the most fragile piece of equipment on a film set. In my subjective POV the camera assistants spend half the day finding bad BNC connections and/or fixing them. With that in mind I use lemo any time instead of bnc.
  5. I heven't found any reference to TC over HDMI. Can you point me to a source on the net? Want to learn about this and who supports it. Thanks!
  6. I really wonder how you talk to other people in real life... have a nice day.
  7. after you moved from ex1 to ex3?
  8. I must say that the very first thing that breaks on a film set are the bnc cables. Second day of shooting and at least 1-2 cable drums are on th way back to camera rental. :-D
  9. how does this work? does it have an ftp client built in like the cantar x2?
  10. sdi yes. but hdmi? never heard of that. interesting. I thought Hdmi is dvi plus audio. also wondering how you jam sync an EX1 to send that TC to the BM box...
  11. dont understand the wifi idea. ever tried to transfer 4GB or more via wifi? takes forever... also: why TC on BNC? alexa, ambient, SD are all on lemo....
  12. no tc. no audio in. no jam sync. only built in fixed battery.
  13. Actually taken straight from the Cantar... ;-)
  14. Would be great since you could email it direcly from the ipad as well. Allthough I must say that these pdf reports are of limited usability. when the editor imports the files he has the exact same info injested from the meta-data anyway so the pdf is more a cosmetics thing.
  15. what kind of encoding are you talking about? the only 5.1 to 2 channel diskrete encoding I know of is dolby E which lives in an AES audio stream.
  16. HP and output routing matrix! whoohooooo!
  17. Plus the new iphone ipad ipod app and the wifi interface are awesome! A whole new era for the 788!
  18. Also try the new Sennheiser MK4. Less than 400$ 10dB self-noise.
  19. Sorry Stu, I meant "track names". I'm on an iPad. The forum doesn't allow quoting or modification of postings from an iPad.
  20. Stu, did you enter some ack names in WA and save? The AVID will read that info.
  21. I can confirm this. Avid reads track names as well as notes just fine. I guess BR only writes the info to iXML which is ignored by avid.
  22. According to it's specs the 900 TX takes -30dBu max. A Lav like the DPA or the countryman can easily output up to line level at high SPLs so that the input will overload. This is why the 788 for example can be switched to line with P48 on or other machines have Pads or low level input modes. IMO it's highly unlikely that a mic speced at 138dB overloads crom a voice.
