  1. Thanks for your suggestion Jan. I used to do that before I got the Venues. And you're right, there's nothing more effective than getting the receivers themselves right around the set very close to the transmitters. I have a little stand with a tripod base and used a BDS system to power everything from NP-1s. But not being as clever as you, I had a 100' set of 7 banded XLR cables, aptly labeled "the cable of death" by my crew. They chipped in and bought me the Venues! ....HA Pascal, I like the idea of 25' and 50' if I don't lose too much signal in the barrels. Larry?
  2. Thanks guys good advice ... Based on what I am hearing here maybe 50' is a better number, instead of 75'. If I'm already line of sight, does an extra 25 feet of antenna cable buy anything but signal loss if the antennas are aimed properly? I'm also thinking that if I only occasionally needed the 75' vs 50' the unneeded cable would just be laying on the ground sucking up signal. I realize it's all theoretical depending on many factors...but I appreciate hearing your experience. Thanks
  3. I am getting ready to build a banded antenna cable to use when I move my antenna boom closer to set, rather than run multiple cables. Just wondering what length would be recommended both in practical terms (having enough length for feature work) and functional terms (not losing too much signal) I was thinking 75-100 feet? Using Belden 9258 with powered sharkfins, Lectro Venues and Lectro T-4 IFB. Hoping LarryF can chime in here as well. Thanks...
  4. Very nice Jan. Good work. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  6. Looking for experienced boom operator for 6-7 week show in Cincinnati. starts late Feb, early March. Chicago or Detroit ops would be ideal, so we could meet before. But ops from other areas certainly considered. My regular boom op is not available. Great script, good project. Shot on film. You can send a resume to gmax at earthlink dot net. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers Geoff Maxwell maxwellsound dot com
  7. Thanks to Simon Payne I recently discovered this $500 monitor won't accept 23.98 SDI...so scratch it off the list!! Otherwise it's a pretty good value. If you don't need SDI, they (LCD4Video.com) have a version with 2 Video inputs, component and HDMI for $250
  8. I just got this monitor. It certainly has good connectivity for the price. Good solid BNC connectors on the back for SD and SDI. Well placed switches on the front. Solid 1/4-20 thread on the bottom and back. The picture is pretty good, just bright enough, but no brightness to spare. Off axis viewing is also decent left to right and below, viewing from above it's useless as are most cheaper LCD's. Has a coax DC connect on the side, same size as a BDS connector. For the price it's hard to beat. I also bought a Square Trade warranty, cheap insurance. We'll see how it holds up.
  9. I'm trying to source that out. Haven't had any luck yet. I definitely would prefer pneumatic tires for the shock absorption and also I'd like to get it up off the ground a couple of inches. Anyone have ideas for some cool looking.. but small.. pneumatic wheels? The current wheels are 4 inch so I would be looking for 6"+ And then of course I would need to put some little legs on the front.
  10. Hey everyone.. I've enjoyed and benefited from all the great information here over the past year or so. Thanks. I've made a few posts but I've certainly taken a lot more than I've given. In an attempt to rectify that imbalance, I am posting a "brochure" that gives an anatomy of 2 new carts that I just finished. Hopefully some of you will find the information useful. I seem to build new carts about every 6-8 years, this being my 4th round. I tried to put a lot of information in the post but if you have any further questions I'll do my best to answer. Thanks again for all the great advice and dialog. Maxwell Soundcarts PDF.pdf Cart Costs.pdf
  11. I was there a few years ago. I took a bunch of hand sanitizer wipes called GermX. Got them at Sam's Club. I was the only one on the crew that didn't get sick. All the locals want to shake your hand...not a good thing. It's the best 9 bucks I ever spent. Y
  12. I'm having difficulty scrolling the pages on an iPad. I get a page then a horizontal line and then about a quarter page below the line and that's all. It hasn't always been like that just in the last month or so. Frustrating. Any ideas?
  13. I see you are using the CL9 controller. How's that working out?
