  1. The cages you see in those pics are actually meant for a different purpose; to mount one receiver onto the back of a camera. Jose and others have modified them to link them together and they had to fabricate some way to securely hang them in the bag. I believe Rado even drilled them directly into the chassis of his nomad to attach them. It works but IMO the dashboard would look so much more elegant and would be a great out of the box solution.
  2. Here is a picture of how I usually have my bag setup. Two rows of 3 QRX sized slots would be perfect.
  3. I would absolutely love a dashboard for my nomad. I use 3 QRXs in one row (closest) to the Nomad and a Micplexer in the next row along with BDS (just a power star mini) and a slot for my NP1. The nice thing is that the Micplexer and QRXs are all the same size, so you don't have to choose which goes where in manufacturing. Two rows of three QRX/Micplexer slots would give a lot of options. End users could probably customize or find uses for any spare holes.
  4. I just received my harness and so far I really love how it feels when on and tightened up. I haven't had a chance to use it in the field for a shoot day yet, but I can tell I am going to love it. As others have mentioned, the on and off process is a little more time intensive than other harnesses. (Also, note that I am using an Orca bag and not a stingray, so that may be part of the awkwardness.) A few easy modifications on my own, and I feel like I'll be 100% happy. I have already attached Nite Ize S-Biners (size #3) onto the supplied red carabiners for the middle and lower attachments. They are MUCH easier to slap on one-handed with no fuss. I may get fancy down the road and remove the supplied ones and attach grommets or somehow find a better way to use the S-Biners by themselves. For now, piggy backing off of the supplied red ones works just fine. Lastly, I might attach a small belt under the waist wings so it can be permanently attached to my body when a bag is not in use (and this way I don't have to completely loosen the waist straps in order to attach them around my waist. But for now that's a good alternative to a permanently attached belt). So far I am extremely happy how it distributes the weight. I'll be doing some very long documentary days with lots of walking when the Pope comes to visit Philly this week and will report back how it does out in the field in the midst of that craziness.
  5. Very cool. I also like the menu shortcut that was added!
  6. Also, keep in mind the battery indicator is only accurate if you have the correct battery type set in the extended menu. For example, If the battery type is set to Lithium and the battery actually in the TRX is alkaline or Nimh, it will say it's about to die very quickly (when it actually ha a lot of juice left.) **Edit: I just reread the OP and it seems you are aware there is a battery setting. but worth noting and double checking that it's correct. I switch back from Lithiums and Nimh all the time based on the style shoot. I forget to change the setting a lot and it always throws me off.
  7. Great to hear there is still a possibility! Thanks Charlie!
  8. That technology is really amazing.
  9. Agreed. I think it's going to be a great product for a great price. I'll be first in line with money in hand.
  10. Ah I forgot about those. I'll definitely miss that feature.
  11. Since the Touch uses the serial port, is there any way to use this at the same time as a Mix-8?
  12. +1 on the quality of the show in all departments. Congrats and I'm excited for the ride ahead!
  13. Understood! just figured it couldn't hurt to try!
  14. Glenn, while you're at it, can we get any extra info about the Nomad Touch product as well? - is the product a wireless interface to work with an existing touchscreen device (like smartphone, tablet, etc?) or is it an actual touch screen unit you will be selling? - any hints on what we'll be able to control and view from the screen? - is this the same product that adds touchscreen capability to the Oasis or is that a separate thing?
  15. I'll be first in line when this is released!
  16. I got the impression the RX200 is meant specifically as a camera hop receiver. Small, light, TC out, internal batteries. Of course can be used in the bag but the QRX200 or 100 is better suited for that.
  17. And I thought I was at a really good place with the gear I currently have....
  18. http://zaxcom.com/nab-2015/ Oasis, a portable touch-screen based linear fader mixing system for the Nomad 12 Nomad Touch, a touch-screen based enhancement for a sound-bag based Nomad 12 RX200, a mini UHF 2-channel wireless receiver with internal power supply and timecode
  19. Really well done! Are those frames custom made aluminum/metal pieces or some pre-made/modular product like 80/20?
  20. Good point, but Colleen did say in the preview video (in the first post of this thread) that the app will communicate either through a QRX with QIFB or an IFB200. Hopefully the nomad and camera link will be added to that list.
  21. Any word if it will work with just a Nomad 10 by itself? None of my wireless have a QIFB option (all QRX200's) nor do I have an IFB200. I do have a Camera Link but that doesn't have a serial connection.
