  1. I use a pair of them. Functionally they perform well. Great range with my wireless and they have been reliable. I like the active power switch for the amplifier right on the under side of the rf amp, makes it easy to add gain when you run the antennas out and take it off when they go back on the cart. Compared to the lectro's they seem to be use less fibregalss (if that is what the frame of the antenna is made of) and consequently wobble a lot during cart moves when the stay on the mast. Also, they are not vented so they are prone to getting blown around in the wind but for the price they are a great pair of antennas.
  2. I asked the Toronto service rep and he is looking into it but he hasn't seen it before himself.
  3. Has anyone else had the error message "DSP Failed" when turning on an LT transmitter? I am getting the error message fairly frequently when booting the transmitter up however it usually goes away when it gets power cycled again. Firmware is up to date.
  4. I dont have the ts-c, i use the ts3's and they have never made any sound that I have noticed.
  5. I just picked one of these up. Seems great so far after 1 day of use however it emits an aubile high frequency sound almost like smpte code. I triedlowering the output level with no change in the sound it emits. I think it is the display as it corresponds with the rolling timcode numbers on the diaplay and the sync-blink of the green led on the front. Anyone else have this on their unit? In reality i suppose it is probably too quiet to pick up from a mic more than a few feet away but it seems weird for pro audio gear designed to be on a quiet set to make noise. Might alo drive an operator nuts if it ends up mounted the camera close to their ear. Thanks

    wingman?

Just got my wingman. I was a bit surprised that there was no prompt to pair or password or anything. What keeps someone else from connecting to my recorder if I walk away from the cart and have my phone in my pocket (go out of bluetooth range)?
  7. I am looking to pick up some colored fader caps for an AD149. P&G faders. Any one have a lead? Trew Audio in Vancouver does not stock them. Thanks
  8. The problem seems to happen when a usb device is plugged into the front of the machine and tries to draw current/charge something. I have a Rii mini wireless keyboard that I think was the culprit, when I plugged the keyboard in to charge the internal battery it locked up.
  9. I was thinking of changing out some of my 411's for SRC's and was curious if the tracking on the front end worked in both Switched and Ratio diversity modes the same way? In two channel mode is there a tracking filter for receiver 1 and a separate tracking filter for receiver 2? Also, if you have a wideband receiver that covers three blocks and have two transmitters going at either end of those three blocks does the receiver not suffer from antennas that aren't trimmed to, for example, block 21 or 23 (if you use the B1 range of receiver)?
  10. any experience putting them in to lockit boxes? do they seem like they will get stuck?
  11. Hey, i had a 970 freeze up on me. Was rolling on about 20 tracks. Any advice for file recovery. I am in the midst of trying the SD file recovery program (file safe). Anyone have suggestions or experience beside a reshoot? Files do not show up on the recorder or when mounted to a computer.
  12. I just bought a few LR-400's to go with my 216 bag setup. The listen tech are definitely noisier (static) and have reduced range over the standard pr 216 receivers but work fine for 'monitoring content'. I bought mine for about 1/4 the price of a comtek receiver and it seems about 1/2 as good. Lectro IFB still sounds the best and are a workhorse. If you just need to add receivers for jobs with more people on comtek then its a good option but be warned you get what you pay for. Also, i don't expect the listen tech to handle drops and bumps as well as the comtek so L&D may be an issue.
  13. I bought two of these cables earlier this year. I leave them attached to the mixer end of my 664 and run mkh60 & 8050's. Cable works great to tame the handling noise of the 8050 on a boom in a run&gun. They are however fairly fragile it would seem. I have had two fail now on me with an intermittent shorting coming at the male end. Noise shows up when i walk and my bag moves. Opening it up there is a circuit board on the M end so its beyond my level of servicing. They are a nice product but maybe more suited to be built into a cart and never subjected to movement.
  14. Hey guys, anyone have experience with the listen tech receivers? I use a comtek 216 system and was tossing around the idea of adding some LR-400 receivers to the mix as they appear to be compatible but I have zero experience with them. I am happy with the pr-216 receivers as they are tough and reliable but the Listen Tech gear has a much lower price tag. Thanks
  15. Thanks Todd, much appreciated
  16. Im trying to make a lemo 5pin to 1/4" trs time code cable to lay tc into boom recorder from my 664 and am confused about the wiring on the trs end. Any thoughts if I am on the right track? Lemo: pin 5 (tc), pin 1 (ground) 1/4": tip (tc), ring (not connected), sleeve(ground)

    More 664 woes

I am running the most recent firmware and no, I have not tried smaller SD card sizes. I am using cards from the Prod Co. that I am doing the job for. I never had this issue before with my own cards so my inclination to to blame the cards (especially since it seems to be multiple cards which are all exactly the same size, brand and speed). I will try my Sandisk extreme Plus 32GB 80MB/s tomorrow and see if it helps. It is a pretty frustrating problem as I have to Google drive the files over the follwoing day when it happens and I dont want to make a name for myself with post for data problems. Poly wav have always been fine in the past, specific request from post for .wav mono

    More 664 woes

Hey all, So my 664 is acting up again. I am gettin corrupt files on the SD card that show up with zero bytes as the file size on the SD but on the CF there is a file with actual data in it. Recording multiple mono. Sometimes it is only one stem on the SD of the multiple mono file that is affected by the zero bytes issue. I thought that I had a bad card which went out of the rotation but the problem has persisted on multiple cards using approved media (Sandisk 64BG CF Extreme Pro 95MB/s). I am also noticing now that the date modified is different between the CF and SD cards (although the actual timecode is correct on files written to both CF and SD) with a difference of exactly 1 hour between them. The CF will have a date modified that is in line with the TOD TC but the SD is exactly one hour slow on the date modified from the TC written in the metadata. Anyone have any problems remotely close and found a solution? Millar
  19. i would like to record in poly but post wants the mono files and I am delivering on SD to them (also their request). I figure that it must be a card issue but it doenst really correspond with the cycle that I usually do with cards (all numbered and I reuse them in order as they come back from post) but I wasnt making notes on what cards I used each day so i cant be sure until it happens again. Maybe the gods are trying to tell me to buy a 688!
  20. Hey guys, thanks for getting back to me. Firmware: the problem persisted between the old firmware and the newest version. I tried updating but the problem is still there. Wave agent: file imports into wave agent and shows metadata but wont play and shows 00.00 as a duration but again, if I open it in VLC player it plays as i nothing is wrong at all. I have marked all my SD cards now (as of last night) and am trying to determine if it is with one particular card or not.
  21. Hey everyone, I was hoping to see if anyone else was having the problem that I am having. I am recording multiple mono on my 664 with between 5 and 8 tracks usually. 48k, 16 bit, 29.97 drop. Three times now I have gotten a note form post that they had a corrupt file. What happens is they will get one file from one take that wont open in Avid or Quicktime (eg track 3 from take 1 where the other tracks from that take are all fine) and is basically not importable by the editor. The file shows up as being 0.0mb on the desktop of my Mac (even though in reality it is a 50 mb file) and it opens/plays fine when I use something like VLC player. The weird thing is I am using approved media and it only happens on the SD card (CF has been fine everytime). Before I get pounced on by The Senator, I did contact Sound Devices and am waiting to hear back but in the mean time I thought someone may have come across this. Thanks Millar Montgomery Vancouver, BC
  22. no one uses a plug-in transmitter with a simple xlr offset? Works great for me. No messing around with cables, just grab the pole and go.
