  1. I have a SD442 for sale. It does the job.
  2. It's one of my favorites.. I couldn't stop laughing during the death-scream-auditions, and that finally John Travolta uses the last desperate scream of Nancy Allen, just before she dies, for the horror movie he is adr-ing.... Totally unbelievably funny also the long-shotgun-without-a-zep-scene...
  3. What a sweet machine this 664 is... and oh, wow, the Maxx: what a sweet machine it is... and oh, wow, the Nomad: what a sweet machine it is..., and oh, wow, my 788t: what a sweet machine it is..., and oh, wow, Cantar: what a sweet machine that is..., and oh, wow, Nagra IV... wow, just wow...
  4. That's quite interesting. Did you have a transmitter in block 24 at hand to check whether the system worked like it's supposed to besides that strange "sexchange"? If so perhaps in the future lectrosonics could implement more usable blocks in one unit to cover a wider spectrum? And design the system so that automatically changes blocks whenever there's the need? Your quirky receiver proves that it can be done actually...
  5. it's not that difficult actually, and I have huge hands...
  6. Thanks for the invitation, that's very nice of you. Christian, thanks. IRT cross with Schoeps is out of the budget I'm afraid, and a little more fuss for setting up and go.. I will try to think of a way to suspend perhaps Oktava's, I allready own a matched pair.. Ideally I would add some Schoeps offcourse. mmm, start saving pennies..
  7. a friend of mine uses an Ambient Tinymike.. didn't see one before..it's a REAL pencilmike, as thin as a Parker Jotter (perhaps a little beefier).. The general atmos and soundbites he got with it sounded fine to me considering the purpose of his shoot: a making off behind the scenes kind of videothingy for the internet..
  8. Cool, congratulations Mike.. did you also boom dialog with that setup? Was wondering how you go about shooting a exterior scene using the Double XY setup on a stand?.. educate us please.. Thanks, Diego
  9. Double ORTF is something I'm willing to investigate in. VM, could you tell or show me how you suspend a double ORTF setup, with windshield and all? Which mics do you use?
  10. IDX wavecam sucks bollocks bigtime: 10 meters range than dropout-paradise all over the place.. when my transmitters are between the camera and the IDX receiver it interferes like hell
  11. I want the foldup cart!!! as you can see, the small cart I am using now, is moments away from collapsing under the weight of my bag... Still, it saves my back and if needed I clip the bag on my harness (an essential) and run away from the waves..
  12. I am not completely dismissing the CMIT as the front mic: I have made very vivid MS-stereo recordings in the past (for docs and features). True, it may not be the ideal setup for recording accurate spatiousness but under the conditions of some of the shoots (run & gun) it was a proper choice for me. In combination with some wireless mics running around, post always seemed to filter out fine sounding results.. For this upcoming project I will opt for extra days to record only ambiences in Central Asia, so I have more time to focus on those recordings. I was only contemplating on using my basic setup (MS) as a basis, add a mic and record Double MS.. But after reading some of the above posts,, and the excellent review of Greg Simmons (thanks for the pointer John) I will probably try a different route. I have made excellent ORTF-recordings in the past, but for some reason (being so focussed on a specific type of recording (read double MS)) I haven't thought about Double ORTF.. or Double XY or, or... A Holophone or a DPA5100 will not fit the budget I'm afraid, and investing in such a mic that's getting used only twice or three times a year just doesn't justify the investment. Thank you for all the responses, I'll investigate some more and will try out some of the options before going.. Diego
  13. Dear group, for an upcoming feature I would like to record ambiences using a double MS mic-setup. The front 'cardioid' will be a CMIT5u, a ccm8 figure 8 and a ccm4 as the rear cardioid mic all suspended in the new Cinela Piano to record three tracks that can be decoded to 5.0 in post. I really like to invest in this technique (research and gear).. Anyone have any experience with the Double MS technique, what caveats? comparisons in results to recordings with a dedicated 'surround mic'.. Prefferably I would buy a CCM4 but I own a CCM41 (hypercardioid), would using the ccm41 give any problems as,for instance, in a much too hyped rear center image? Anything that cannot be done by just using a 'single' MS setup, as it will only be for ambiences and soundfx? Be gentle cause this will be my first steps into the art of 'surround' sound...
  14. Hawkwoods chargers didn't charge my IDX np1s...
  15. EayRig is quite 'squeeky', I always complain about how much noise the rig itself makes when a camoperator moves with it... Booming could be a problem..
  16. I'm interested in your carts as well.. Any pictures you can link us to? Diego
  17. For a lowbudget feature I had to record a soprano accompanied by piano. No mics could be in frame, but the live performance was going to be used so i hung to DPA 4098H gooseneck mics above stage, out of frame, put a MK41 on a stand pointed at the soprano just below the stage, and put a ORTF-config of two Oktava cardioids in the middle of the concerthall (small hall great acoustics) . The results were quite impressive to me, and were used for the scene AND the endtitles.
  18. Thanks a bunch guys. I will keep a close eye on the screens wherever I can (one man band shoot for me) and dial in a delay if needed (output 1 and 2 on 788t since firmware rev. 2.18) Diego
  19. Hello group I did an extensive search but came up with nothing.. Since I don't have the time or luxury to check the amount of delay that's needed for audio in video village I'll ask the question here on the board: I would like to dial in some audio-delay on outputs 1 and 2 of my 788t going to a videoassist-recorder to compensate for floppy lipsync in videovillage. It's an Alexa shoot, video thru SDI to a sony RX30 recorder/player.. Shooting at 24fps.. What would be the typical offset to correct lip-flop at the video-end of things?(in ms) Thanks a bunch, I hate to ask this cause I would rather have checked and tried it myself, Diego
  20. Hi Tim. The 2040 kit arrived just a week ago. Did not have time to put it to extensive testing but I will take the bag to a five weeks shoot next sunday and I will report back to you. The antenna assembly is very simple: two dipoles on a stereobar velcroed to one of the bags handles (pegz2). Hopefully a Kortwich bag will arrive tomorrow cause I don't like the petrolbag much anymore. Antenna distribution is the little Audio Ltd. RK3, with a 4th DX2040 receiver connected to the RF-through outputs.
  21. Wow, all posted bags in a glance, too cool. Thanks Jeff!
  22. Sorry for the deleted posts... I tried to upload a picture. It worked before... Let's try again: my current bag-setup. Waiting for a Kortwich-bag coming this friday.. Diego -edit- oh, and my Ipod doesn't make good quality pictures , sorry for that also...
  23. Hot room, hotter than I initially thought: 110 degrees F, humidity about 60% were the en environmental circumstances. There was a huge humidity shift in the room as things heated up and it started raining heavily outside. My dealer also suggested a trip to the mothership but what may have been the culprit probably: the foam windcap collecting moisture?I read somewhere on this board this could give problems I described and I never thought of that before. Well, a ten day trip to the US while that country was baking during the heatwave, I encountered many situations where the CMit could have failed but it didn't. I did not use the foamy windcap as extensively as I used to.. The CMit did perform well. Diego

  25. The selfnoise of the cs3e becomes apparent on interviews with softspoken people on quiet interiors to a point it gets really annoying. On a bridge with loud traffic and big recreational boats cruising underneath the CS3e pulls the dialog out of mayhem more effectively than my Cmit.
