  1. Talked to the SD guys on the IBC here in Amsterdam when the 664 was introduced;asked them about things like keyboard inputs etc;664 is the successor of the 552 : a 6ch (+ 6 more inputs with the the CL6) mixer made for ENG/reality style sound recording with really a lot of tracks. All the 'wanted options' cry'd for above will probably be featured in the successor of the 7 series?( the '8'series RECORDERS??)And will be introduced next year?(AES ,IBC ?)Since Sound Devices intro'd the PIX series I had a gut feeling that the menu stucture on those will be implemented in their future sound machines (mixers and RECORDERS).Cart people: be patient! I was tempted to buy a 664,but decided to wait, based on PIX gut feeling.( and having no need for a 6 or 8 input/multi output mixer,I have those, but would like a multitrack recorder ,say 8 tacks SD style, and not a 788:hate the meters on that one: to short and to 'schocky' compaired to 744 meters) Why would SD in one stroke kill all their 7 series recorders with the introduction of a 6 input mixer that can record multitrack, and have ALL the options the 7 series have....?Will not happen. My guess is SD will introduce new RECORDERS next year!?(The "8" series Jon?) 2. With Chinese made NP-1's (like Global Media) the IDX JL2-plus will charge, but the 'Full' indicator (green light) will stay 'Red' when battery is full...Not ideal, but workable.I always check the ledlights on tne battery itself if it is fully charged.
  3. E-Z up?(http://www.ezupdirect.com/shelter-accessories/eclipse.php)
  4. Hmm.Digital seems like the magic word....(not for me : is digital better mixerwise?) SX-ST 8D has 4 aes outputs (4x 2 dig outputs),BUT that will cost you muchas more..:-( than 8x analogue out.David C
  5. Vasileios,OK I drop drop the PDF in the 'projectfolder': it than has a soundreport, but that does not change anything in the IXML data.. I guess it (sound report writer) can be very usefull for 'over the shoulder' when there is less time for entering metadata into the recorder, but behind the cart it is WAVE agent for me!David C
  6. Happy SX-ST8 owner! And yeah Ron Meyer is a great guy! Good luck on your choice! David C. (Europe)
  7. Must agree : this size lookes more cartsized than the regular I pad!Have a question about 'Sound report writer' : looks much like Wave agent ( I use wave agent all the time and love the way it works:drop your files ;end of the day and it creates a report for you in PDF),but it seems in the demo of 'sound report writer'that you fillout everything on your I phone/tablet/whatever and create a report on that, but still also fill in/file everything on the recorder in the IXML data.So why the extra step?David C
  8. Or get one of these http://www.professionalwireless.com/antenna-kit.aspx But that can be a moneyissue....recorder with hardwire or radiomike somewhere in the back, press rec, will do the trick much cheaper ;-)
  9. Dutch productionsoundmixer ( Amstrdam based) ,after 2 years as a P.A on commercials and features,I started with sound in 1987,did a famous (Dutch) travelshow for 6 years ('87-'93)and went around the world about 8 times .We had to travel 'light' but carried 13 cases anyway...and this was 'docustyle' on video ( Beta SP)/small crew ( 5 people) in those days. After that worked as a Soundassistent on 2 features ("Wings of fame","Flodder in Amerika"): operating the 4.2 and the 4 stc ( overhere the 'soundhead' used to be the boom op; this is changing now, although I still operate the boom because of 'setpolitics' : the boomop position is still not a fully/well paid job overhere ) Since 1999 mainly serials ( dutch 'detectives')on 16mm ,and commercials (35 and 16).Currently shooting the best watched 'detective' on dutch TV :"Baantjer". Recording on Sonosax Stelladat 2 DAT ( for editing ,2tr mix) and HD ( 744,24 bits for audiopost.), with AD 6 ch mixer,Neumann's( 81,82 )Schoeps ,Sanken mikes,Audio Ltd and Micron (new) radio's diversity's and very nice cart by Ursta ( no longer available...)Thats all Folks!!!( no website, and IMDB is not accurate at all in my case....)
