  1. Quick assemble and disassemble is nice, but we are using these things mainly for windprotection.
  2. Glen you said in your post about 'it' "Had a chance to check it (the rycote cyclone) " so no need to say 'sorry' to John there.(or was this an 'after' edit?)About the comparing: "to be carried out by a more impartial tester"True. But this test is not in favour for the Cyclone,in my opinion...It needs some fur!(and the moves in the video are not 'everyday',but still :sometimes voilent moves like this are needed)
  3. Hmm... are you changing to the Cyclone because 'the ordinary Rycote/windjammer' doesn't work anymore?Or is it a hype thing?
  4. More an instructionvideo than a review!
  5. 32 tracks!! Do we need that?When/where is there a situation where we have use for 32 tracks: OK when we want the 'score and fx' be recorded on set....?Seems overkill to me?! I'm sorry for pic and audio post.....in this case...
  6. OK so we are talking Wittgenstein.I get it!
  7. 'and two wrongs do not equal right' That must be Confusius!Right?
  8. Since the 306 (aka'the laptopmixer') was released not long before Cooper stopped producing ,I wonder how many where produced? I mean to say Steve : this may be a very hard item to come and get 'available soon'.Collectors Item.Jeff was lucky to get one !
  9. OK to get back to the OP : I saw the Cyclone at the IBC and it seems big to me (compared to a Cinela Piano it is..big).I don't know what it does in windy conditions ( My guess will be: it will work fine) but my initial irritation on seeing the Cyclone was : a bit of a Cinela Rippoff(OK,OK Rycote has had many rippoffs so they have some right) but still. And although I have Pelicans full off Rycote products,Cinela wins for me (although with Cinela you cry all the way to the bank..........)
  10. Aha!Mikey you were caught cheating!Shame on you.
  11. Eum.Mikey's reply was actually pretty accurate!
  12. Mikey NOT ALL problems can be fixed by the mgs's on line : all the above questions/answers/same problems are legtimate,so are the answers..Is this a 'trip to the mothershipquestion, or can the JW sound forum help in the fix? Am still awaiting answers/Fix to some of the questions I asked SD(Casey) regarding some 664 issues and never (OK he replyed, but no fix...) got a satifactory answer. ...Way to go forum!!
  13. Local audio-for-film vendors.(and we have 3 of them in Amsterdam) I guess they are right.
  14. Wow.........Master taking a pupil to task???No need for that Mikey.
  15. For the record: Sennheiser no longer produces the MKH 416.Parts will be hard to get at some point..I don't understand why they stopped producing such a workhorse while they still make the MD 421 and MD 21 (dynamic workhorses!)
  16. Yep Mikey, people tend to forget there where times (25+ years ago..)when recorders had TimeCode (4s TC) and DP's where scared to use the TC on their 35mm film /cameras because the TC 'burn' on the film might 'bleed' into the frame..Sync on sticks backthen.
  17. I'm very willing to try to solve 'any' problem on set with the Cam.( or any)dept! "And in my experience, anyone who says "not my problem" on location tends not to be re-hired." OK.The fact that the cameradept (with the much 'loved RED') cannot get the TC to work after lunch, does NOT mean that this a problem of the sounddepartment: It's a problem in the camera.I will work with the 1st AC to try to find a sollution, but with a 10+ page shootingday we have to move on at some point...Read audio as TC could be an option,so is Plural Eyes .Hey! syncing on sticks! They did that for years and years.TC is nice and easy but not all is lost when a TC problem cannot be solved on set.So at a point it's not my problem anymore! And I'm rehired all the time!
  18. "Or could you perhaps send the TC to an audio track?" Why would you.In this case you/we are talking 'camerafuckingup'..I always want to help the cameradept, but in this RED case I would give up and have the edit department sync on sticks. Not our problem.
  19. Jack I agree: "RED, I hate those guys" (free to Indiana Jones) So Mikey is right: crap happens when .......RED is around.
  20. Mick contacted JW forum. A good start!
  21. Justan got a good point regarding recorder and receiverpower: once the power/NP-1 is off, there is (unless you have a boom) only power for the recorder left ( 788:ext 'Sonystyle' batt,664: AA INT batt) The INT 664 AA's will give you plenty of time to keep on rolling(Boom only,in this case) till you get a fresh, filled NP-1. SD:I want mix assist on the 664!!!(why not:it's a mixer/recorder!)
  22. wow, we are talking 'McGyver' here: very good suggestions (will keep them in mind!)!(Maybe the SMA part will be tricky?Cory let us know how it worked out for your friend in Denver!
