  1. I do not know Eric T but in all fairness to him, he was not aware at all that I asked Jeff to delete the post. It was getting out of hand and that is why I called the 1st poster. We talked and squared everything. Yes, a lot of assumptions are being throw around here. I squared it with the 1st poster by talking to him, but it seems like Redge has a problem, assuming the sound community is upset at me for my provocative post.
  2. Eric, the thread was started by me. Â I posted it seeking an LA based sound consultant for help on a short film that I am producing. Â I was going to have someone to break down the script with me and go over potential problems and observe on set. Part mentor/teacher and consultant. Â Since it was a 1 to 1.5 day shoot, I was seeking to barter services for anyone interested. I am far from a student and own a lot of production equipment. Â The remaining cast and crew are all volunteering. Â I was asking for a mixer's advice since my experience is limited. If I offended anyone by asking for bartered help, I apologize. Â I have done several projects working for free bringing my 442, schoeps, and lectros because it was a good cause and I had the ability to. Â I plan to have our on website our filmmaking techniques and equipment used especially the sound gathering techniques employed. Â 50% is shot in a bathroom and I have 1/2 day. Â I do not have the budget for proper ADR. Â Wild tracks/tight shots/tiles on roof (thanks Sergio)/sound blanket the hell out of it and really pray for the best. Â It escalated as Jeff mentioned and I asked Jeff to remove the topic since I was not able to. Â I just got off the phone with the poster and we are all cool. Â Just a misunderstanding. Â Happens all the time, and the other poster is a standup guy. Joe
  3. thanks Scott, Info from the rental houses was block 21 22 and 28 for LA. I did not know nor inquire for other blocks (24,25) . Also, good to know regarding HD and blocks 27 and up. I had an order in for a block 28 UCR401 but just changed it to 21.
  4. I don't know if I will do wireless hops back to camera just yet, but I think I should buy accordingly. I think LA is 21, 22, 28? Not sure. Can someone enlighten me please. So Receiver bag only - which block based on experience? Transmitter/Receiver - Block 28 for receivers and lower blocks for transmitters? What lectro series are you using for camera sends?
  5. I don't know about PAID. It seems like a very user friendly program and I'm sure it has its utility, but for that price you can buy Quickbooks, the basic edition. I would personally think a bookkeeping program like Quickbooks would be more practical for self employed professionals. You can also find a simple sales invoice template on MS Excel, if you are desperate. Barcoding can be incredibly expensive, time consuming (programming and training) and complex to use especially interfacing it with any type of accounting software (eg Mas90/200). I would really do a cost/benefit analysis. Oh by the way, Happy Birthday Mr. Wexler. I am enjoying your forum. Joe
  6. I know Fred Ginsburg teaches one at CSUN (csun students only) and UCLA extension (Jim Tanenbaum) has one but not until June. Does anyone know anywhere else or any type of internship or apprentice program that is happening now or very soon. Thanks
  7. I have recently been lucky to purchase a used CMC541 from an industry legend. The Rycote BBG 20mm fits it perfectly as well as the Oktava. I use it on the Schoeps with really good results, at least my ears seem to think so. I guess if I venture outside with the schoeps, the windjammer will definitely have to be purchased.
