A couple of other things to note. In stereo mode there is one gain that controls both channels. You can't set the gain separately for each channel. If you are using the receiver on the cam (qrx200, rx200) for time code you will need to jam the TRXla first. TC is embedded in the audio signal. The TRXLA uses the same lemo input for audio and TC. I have never tested how stable the TC is in the TRX's as I am normally sending it TC via Zaxnet. The guys at Lemac made me up a line level input cable for a mono TRXLA, so I am sure they could make a stereo version. Battery consumption wise, using the newer eneloop pro's I get around the six and a half hour mark. That is with power roll enabled. If your not using zaxnet you would need to select an output power level. If I remember correctly 25, 50 or 125mw. Sorry if I am stating the obvious. I seem to recall you being a SD, Lectro user. Cheers Nate.

I contemplated going this route but decided to go with the CL. While it is possible the main draw back is that there are no battery eliminators on the market for TRXla transmitters. The CL can also be used as an IFB/Zaxnet transmitter for ERX and TRX on talent.

Australia, quick question about wireless licenses
Nate C replied to Karri's topic in General Discussion
No license required Karri. We are to casual for fancy things like that. Enjoy your gig in Aus. Hopefully you get to see more then your hotel room and the locations. Cheers Nate. -
Hey Jesse what is that alligator clip arm thingy you are using? I have an old school version that is no where near as flexible as that.

The portabrace ones look good. I would have brought one, had I realised they existed. Having to remove the pouch to access the media is a non issue for me. Is there anything to prevent the 742 from slipping out the top/cone end of the pouch. It looks as though it narrows, or maybe there is some straps similar to the bottom end. Couldn't quite tell from the pictures on the Portabrace site. Cheers Nate.

Finally got around to sewing up a 742 pouch. Two things I wanted the pouch to have. A window to see settings and access to the battery compartment while the 742 is in the pouch. Both were achieved. A bit rough and ready. Maybe one day I'll attempt V2 but for now I am happy with this one.

It is working fine on my iPhone. Using 3.70, I am however using an older version IOS. That and my TRRS cable is black not white, not that would make a difference. Do you have another cable you could try, to rule it out?

Managed to place an order and get one shipped to AU. Didn't realise that the electronics restriction is supplier dependent and not across the board.
-
Thanks Jim. Unfortunately Amazon don't ship electronics to Australia.

Thanks for sharing this David. This looks like the solution I have been trying to come up with. With a little help from from a drill I can imagine under slinging it from the top shelf of my rastorder fold up cart. Doesn't look like they ship to Australia. Now to hit up a one of my US friends to see if they mind me using them as a shipping portal.

What I wear changed somewhat when I became a soundie. No more swishy pants. Lead by example is my motto. Luckily I live in a warm climate. I am also going to second Afewmoreyears comment on, onset crew's wardrobe choice being a serious issue. I can not tell you how many cam ops I have had to a quiet word to about their hard soled dress shoes. I'm sorry it's not a fashion show, I don't rock a mirror ball suit to work.

The RX200 receives TC embedded in the audio signal or RF. So no it won't work with the ambient Tiny Lockit. When using it as a wireless camera link I am using the the CL. Have also used it with a TRX742 for wireless boom. It will work with all the new Zax TX. Not sure how backwards compatible it is. If you require two channels you will need a stereo transmitter.

Hey Brian I paid about AU$1150 a couple of years back. Don't imagine the new price will be all that much more. The AU dollar is hovering around the 71c US. Cheers Nate.

How to Stop People from Whispering Sultry Things into the Boom
Nate C replied to William Hirsch's topic in General Discussion
I married the last person who did this. She was an extra and the producers sister. Now she is my beautiful wife. -

What do you mean more juice, Tom? I have my max volume set at around 11 so as clients don't blow their ears off.

Hi Pete , I have one and prefer it over my Ol' trusted 2x um400a/SRb link due to only needing a single freq to transmit a stereo signal (Was really handy in RF congested Port Kembla the other night) and the LEDs on the side of the unit indicating if RF level is present and audio levels. Oh and a timecode output on the RX200. No longer do i need to put two units on the camera. As to be expected range is excellent as is audio quality. When using internal batteries, 4x Panasonic enolope Pro's gets 7hrs of solid use, unit lost power around 7 and a half hour mark at 3.2v. There are other threads on the RX200 with much better reviews then mine.

Sure thing Jack. Outer tube is a 19mm steel tube, inner tube is the best fitting one I could find and the white plastic outer tube is from an electrical conduit connector with on side cut off. It is there to stop the protruding axle from damaging anything in transit. I taped the axles and and added a bolt as my original method of epoxy wasn't strong enough and I don't weld. Added a very rough sketch of the axle design.

Jan I am hesitant to respond to this in full knowledge that in part a thread I started in another forum was partially responsible for your Field Fails post. In my defence I was trying to warn others of a potential risk. I was wrong, let my frustrations get the better of me thus and misinformed people. Full well knowing the negative off shoots, yet denying I could be responsible. History is full of people with good intentions And that is a point of this conversation, think carefully before you criticise. Know what you praise. Not sure if I should of commented and cheers Nate.

Next stage completed. Drawers added. There were two important factors when designing the drawer system. 1 - I wanted to use tubs with locking lids as the cart lays down when packed in the car. 2- that the drawer system can be easily removed, so I could use the cart without them if required. The skeleton for the drawers is made from aluminium which the tubs simply sit in. There is enough of a gap between the drawers that you can easily remove the lids and there is a small space at the bottom that one lid could be stored in. This in effect wastes about the space of one of the smaller tubs but makes it much easier to access gear. The skeleton is simply held in with velcro. Surprisingly secure. I have to use a paint scraper to separate the velcro to get it out. The skeleton weighs in at approx 1.8kg. The mini runners used are sourced from a kitchen/wardrobe supplier and a pair only weigh 140 grams. They do not pull apart like the larger kitchen runners, so the assembly has to be done in a specific order. The tubs used are from a UK company called ReallyUsefulBoxes. 3x 4L and 1x 9L capacity containers. The smaller 4 litre containers perfectly fit an ERX or R1a on its side.

Pretty sure you can. I brought a whole heap from a chemist that was closing down a few years ago. So I haven't needed to resupply in a while. This is my last box though.
