  1. As someone who has known Al for awhile and spent time with him he has a great sense of humor that 100% full of satire all the time. That is what makes him Al
  2. I use these comes in 4 , 8, 12 size only had one of the many I have break over past 3 years http://www.amazon.com/Storacell-Powerpax-Battery-Yellow-12-Pack/dp/B004YG7JXW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1443010088&sr=8-7&keywords=aa+battery+holder
  3. What does it sounds like with a microphone attached with someone speaking in it
  4. Cinela OSIX Suspension and Leo Ball with remove able fur cover hands down way better then anything Rycote has and Piano Blimp for higher wind situations
  5. The user had been participating in BETA testing of new firmware version 2.0 and never upgraded to the 2.1 when it was released which he should of done since he was using BETA firmware. This isn't an issue anyone should suffer unless your knowingly participating in BETA software updates. According to his posts on face book the machine warned him of this too "I did get the firmware expires warning but I didn't except the machine to not be able to record on date of expiry". So it is really his own fault the machine told him the firmware was going to expire and he ignored the warnings and did not update. This will not happen to a regular user ever.
  6. Did you recently attach the CL-6. There is no such thing as a "Firmware Trial on Sound Devices products"
  7. Yes it is a wiring issue. I'd recommend buying or rewiring the lav mic to TA4 and then building an adapter cable that goes from TA4 to TA3. This link on Shure's site allows you to select what type of cable you need and provides you with wiring info http://www.shure.com/americas/support/tools/cable-selector Also the User Guide for the Switch shows you the correct wiring so you can just compare it to TA3 Lav mic and see what you have to do http://cdn.shure.com/user_guide/upload/1963/WA360_User_Guide.pdf If your still having issues call Shure Support they are quite helpful When this system fails though due to low cost I would suggest to the School a Lectrosonics system which then can be used with the MUTE switch that turns mic off at input it is also super robust but only works with Lectrosonics Transmitters http://www.lectrosonics.com/US/All-Accessories/product/243-mute.html
  8. I would agree 100% with your review the lack of the locking connector is what made me not want a Tentacle Sync. My TigQ28 have all been flawless and I enjoy the robust Lemo connector. The support from Mozegear has been great too.
  9. We could make a new word like "Cheapducer" or "Procheaper"
  10. My favorite made up job title from about 4 years ago was a "Transpotographer" We were doing a reality cooking competition so production hired PA's who were photo students to drive the contests around and then take photos of them. The producer said it was an easy way to save money since photo's didn't need to be taken while they were being driven around He thought it might catch on thankfully haven't seen the job title on a call sheet since
  11. Call Gotham Sound New York they have been sending the X-32 out quite a bit. I have been considering one and they have glowing reviews for it.
  12. Yes I know a few sound mixers that also do prompter at same time for single person interview gigs.
  13. I don't operate the prompter but have helped in a pinch set it up. Most of the time we ask client email files ahead of time or bring them on a USB stick to set. Any laptop will run the software I believe the shooter has a older model macbook he uses just for the prompter now as he rents it too. It always seems to work fine.
  14. I work with this model often seems to work well. http://www.prompterpeople.com/proline-17-inch/
  15. I also find that sometimes just re flowing the joints fixes the crackle. But using contact cleaner fixes things too
  16. Shared Google Calendar works well with Iphone Calendar app as well
  17. Carl Mullins a sound colleague and friend of mine based in Charleston South Carolina passed away unexpectedly yesterday. I am heart broken for his family. I met Carl 4-5 years ago as he was transitioning into our business from camera work and news he was very eager to learn and took pretty quickly to things. He had a great passion for this business and was a loving father to both of his children. He was one of the good guys and will be missed
