  1. As did my policy with State Farm. But my gear has grown out of what they'll cover and I use all of it for business only, not personal.
  2. Brining back an old topic...Does Allison still work at Heffernan still?
  3. Bonine Olle! Saved my butt when I was working a recent film shot on water. I know someone one here who didn't fare quite so well
  4. On a recent commercial shoot, was talking to the DIT guy while my files uploaded and he said down in LA, other DIT guys purposely purchase slower drives in order to rack up their OT.
  5. Just happened to me too. Capturing ambiance on day 1, no prob. Get to set, director added dialogue and needs in IFB. Will always carry them in my car now, no matter what.
  6. Had this happen to me on a 411a when I couldn't change out my NP-1 quick enough. Kept working with it (luckily I didn't have to change frequencies) and the unit returned back to normal after we broke for lunch. Haven't been able to reproduce the problem.
  7. Or multiple lavs on each girl. Want to make sure that the lav doesn't cut out on you
  8. I think it has a variable HP filter, but no EQ.
  9. Don't know if you consider it a purchase, but my donation to JW and this awesome forum. Wouldn't be where I am today without the advice/help/banter I've received from this forum. Thank you everyone on this site. Oh, and my first Schoeps purchase (thanks John B.)
  10. +1! Good call Richard. Life's too short to drink crappy scotch!
  11. Senator is spot on here. What happened was out of his realm of control and was poor thinking and acting on my end. I have a call into him to patch up this issue. Thanks everyone for their thoughts and contributions.
  12. Just had a gig that canceled on me less than 24 hours before the gig. After reading other peoples approaches to the situation, I decided I would waive a cancellation fee based on the fact that this producer is providing continuous work, steady payments, easy working environment, etc. I let him know of my availability to reschedule and call it a day. I get an email from him saying he's pissed off because I was lecturing him about how to do business (which I never said in the email) and that I know this flaky business as much as he does. He adds that we have more gigs coming which means more money and that in our small crew, I'm the only one who brought up the cancellation fee. I was really disturbed by this email because I felt I approached the situation very nicely and in a professional manner and he blew this out of proportion. Still trying to figure out how to approach him with these recent comments.
  13. Can't remember where I saw this video so I apologize if this has been posted here before:
  14. Was just talking to another sound friend of mine today about this sort of thing and how we need to develop a standard and stick to it. There are some people in our area that give production WAY too much gear for peanuts. Well put RVD!
  15. I used to work in a surgery department (an orderly) back in college and some doctors use their own hats and some don't. Some wear the disposable hats and some wear the bouffants. The ones that don't usually sweat A LOT. AO is right about the type of procedure needed special equipment. I know some orthopedic surgeons who wear a biohazard-style head mask when working as it helps with bringing down the rate of infection. These masks which go over the head have a fan inside to help keep the surgeon cool. Knowing what kind of procedure will help in how long that procedure will last too. Once the surgeon starts working, it'll be tough to switch out batteries on his pack if it's a long case (as most total joint replacements, vascular surgeries, etc. are). Depending on the number of cameras being used, I would place the B6's head just poking out of the surgeon's hat and on the side of the body that is the least accessible for the camera to get to. Shouldn't present much of a sterility factor either. Good luck and have fun in there!
  16. I know of some great smaller wineries in the Napa/Sonoma region that will get you away from all the tourists too. I'm bottling the Scottish ale when I go to my parent's place for Thanksgiving. Probably be ready by the end of the year (has a long maturation period.) Sure...
  17. I've mentioned this before on the forum but my family and I brew beer (Deutscher Bier) and if anyone in the NorCal area or Bay Area would like to sample some, I'd be happy to pour! I have an Oktoberfest and a Double Hopped West Coast ale ready to be consumed with a Scottish Ale ready to be bottled in the coming weeks. Reading Jeff's post about meeting Whit and other ATL soundies made me realize there are some folks in the NorCal region I haven't met before. If you're around SF, the bar is always open
  18. The crew and I were joking around about getting a free bike. They had more bikes at their HQ than the eye could see. Very cool place.
