Hey everyone, Just thought I would pass this on. Batteries Plus in Atlanta is having a sale on AA Lithium. You have to buy them in a 10 pack. They are a $1.30 per battery = $13.00 for a 10 pack. Very good deal. Orders over 200 batteries are free shipping if under $8.00 for shipping. You can call or email John Cyphers to order. Great guy, takes care of the sound community in the ATL. Here is his info: John Cyphers Cell 404-697-8588 jcyphers@battplusatl.com Cheers, Whit

The mic sounds great. Very natural sounding. I really like the sound of this mic. Rado was one of the main forces making this DPA lav happen. He was kind enough to share it with myself and Jan. I was also able to share it with a few others. I am looking forward to adding this mic to my package. Since it did not have a real name other than the Beta DPA Lav at that time, a lot of us started calling it the Rado Lav. Whit

I'm not sure AL, but I miss Larry's post. I guess he retired from the group also. I have not seen any Lectro banners either. Whit Norris - Lectrosonics owner and user since the 185's

MovieSlate is what I have used since 2011. Just hit send at the break or wrap and everyone has it. I like the fact that I can write a lot of notes if needed for picture and sound post as well as have information as to what mics are used and so on. I work off of an iPad with a bracket on my cart. In preproduction I put in all of the emails of everyone that needs it. No carbon copies to worry about or having to make copies. Also at end of a film I can send a complete file with all of the reports to sound post. The production office, picture and sound post really like it! Whit

Sorry gang late to the party here. I did not realize this thread had started. I now own 6 of the DPA 4098. 4 of the goosenecks and 2 longer ones for podium mics or a long reach. I have since the beginning of this year using them in cars and as plant mics. I sold 2 of my Cubs. The 4098 sounds outstanding and the reach is incredible. I find it very hard to use a Cub again unless I have no other options. I had Trew Atlanta build several 10ft TA5 to TA5 so if I want to remote the transmitter from the 4098 I can. Also I have the XLR adapter to be able to hardwire. This mic has changed my workflow. I also have used the longer ones for a podium mic in several scenes and press conference scenes. I have found a new tool that I am actually excited about.. the 4098 works incredibly well. Bubble Bee and someone else is working on a wind cover that is stronger than foam cover that comes with it. 4th Annual Atlanta Sound Mixer Barbecue
Whit Norris replied to Whit Norris's topic in The Daily Journal
This was the 1st Atlanta Sound Mixer Barbecue! Never had an idea that it was going to become a yearly event. Richard you were missed! -
We had our now 4th annual Atlanta Sound Mixer Barbecue Saturday at mine and Kathy's house. We had sound friends from all over the country join us as well as friends from most of our vendors and manufacturers. We roasted two pigs and Lectrosonics brought brisket and smoked chicken. Gotham and PSC provided deserts, Trew and Zaxcom provide brew. Everyone was very generous with all of the food that was brought.

Congratulations Whitney! See you this weekend!

Interview with Jeff Wexler on TheUncool.com

Great Interview Jeff, I really enjoyed it! Whit -
Yes I still voice slate also, as well as noting end marks or tail sticks and sometimes off speed cameras. The head slate for the start of the Roll/File with date, production info, specs and tone I still do also. I am very very sure that no one ever listens to it. I have offered $100 and $50 if they will send me a email saying they heard it. I have been doing that several times a week for a year and have never received a email or anyone wanting the money. Too funny! Whit

They just remodeled our (favorite) neighborhood Waffle House. It was closed for 3 weeks! Kathy and I were not sure what to do! We ended up going to another nearby. Scattered covered and smothered for my hash browns. Whit

Over the past month or two is saw pictures on how to take a Ambient Quick Release apart to service and repair it. It may have been at the Ambient booth at NAB or on one of our sound sites or forums. Has anyone seen this or know where I kind find it? Thanks, Whit

Congratulations Larry to you and your team! it came up 123 when I did the search! Whit

Not a tactical error at all... I do most of my driving in the southeast so I'm not concerned about your California Highway Patrol (revenue collectors) tactics. My trusty Escort Passport Radar/Laser detector rides on the dash. Whit
