That is good news. Keep us posted.

Well the thing with a locking connector is that it works just the same with regular cables so why not put it there from the start so you can have quick peace of mind. I d probably buy it anyway because the form factor and the price point seems unbeatable. but would have so secure the connection with a right angle and some camera tape.
-
So i could change the framerate and output level from a iphone correct? I don t want to have to lug around a laptop for just doing that. I agree with pascal that a locking connector is a must. A right angle connector and a tight case is a okay workaround for my erx's.

Hi pablo, there s been quite a lot of discussions on the subject. You can google search this site. Common concerns with cold temperatures filming are shorter battery life, stiffer cables, dressing up proper and quick temperature change issues with gear going in and out. Good luck!

Two IDX NP-L7S batteires go down in a month!?!?!
dominiquegreffard replied to Michael Gassert's topic in Equipment
I had a similar issue with my charger. It only worked if it was cool. (I.e. put in a fridge for 20 minutes before a charge... ) it s been fixed and now it s back to normal.- 25 replies

Retractable 8' XLR jumper cable for boom poles.
dominiquegreffard replied to Eric Toline's topic in General Discussion
Interesting find eric, good to have a thing like this on a xlr. I have a similar thing on a 1/8" minijack and it s one of my favorite cable. Do they have a constant pull or they can "lock" in any chosen lenght kind of like a seatbelt does? -
All good info here so far. And a bit of history too! To the OP you could shop for a used slate and get one for a smaller price. Since you are a begginer you ll encounter lot's of non TC cameras where your slate will be of great value for the work flow and the impression that you send out there. And get yourself some neat new little velcro numbers for it. It is relatively cheap for what it brings i find. Wireless are so much more expensive. Good luck.

Looks promising. If it s a minijack input/output a g3 type screw on connector would be great. Also a swappable battery system would be safer. Maybe 1AA battery?

I m still looking for the perfect model for this too. British airways have pretty cool ones so grab some if you can. L shaped connectors are very important to protect comteks and erx's.

Hi, First make sure you don t ask about anything bluetooth because some people here will think that you don t deserve to do your job. But seriously in my case hiding neckloops has proven sometimes difficult so wardrobe department coordination beforehand is key. Good luck!

I agree on a small clamp and coiled cable solution. As simple as possible.

ORCA Sound Bags and Harness
dominiquegreffard replied to Orca Bags's topic in Manufacturers & Dealers
That s very cool rado. I like the easy access to eveything and the solid frame. Do you plan to have the micplexer in there as well? It seems a bit tight wide wise to fit the zaxnet antenna is it?- 152 replies

The idea behind the purchase of the 16bay charger would be to always soft charge to improve battery cells lifetime. I m might go 2 x 8 bay charger then. Thanks vin
-
Hi vin, Can you soft charge of your 16 bay charger?
-
Nice to see it all coming together. If i may ask: Where is your battery located in your bag?

What Does a $1 Chinese Lavalier Mic Sound Like?
dominiquegreffard replied to Marc Wielage's topic in Equipment
Good to know christian, i didn t know that. -
Good job zax, i had lost faith on that one the be honest. Would be curious to see with what keyboard i could make this work with as well. Ideally something very small to integrate on top of the bag. Can it trigger recording? I never liked the position, feel and holding the button for one second each time of the current record button.
-
Wow, now that s gonna be something.

What Does a $1 Chinese Lavalier Mic Sound Like?
dominiquegreffard replied to Marc Wielage's topic in Equipment
In my experience the ost tl-40 handle normal levels fine but it gets ugly when level goes up to screaming or so. So basically ok for interviews but bad for fiction work. -
This is what i was thinking all along. To setup a hop is a lot of $, energy, and potential ways to go wrong for just two channels. If the cam has a tc input, i d rather jam it and record on my nomad. If client insist on sound direct to camera i use two smqv's and a srb with a little custom AA battery pack.
-
Nice to see the finished product. If a bag was designed specifically wider to fit the nomad and the fp8 there would be a nice neat place to fit a battery system just under the fp8. Good job zaxcom!
-
Same here. There is an option on nomad to name delivery mirror file after scene name. There probably is that same option on maxx.

If my recorder could send a little robot voice saying "reference audio guide only, please sync sound before editing" over scratch track every minute or so i'd probably do it. But seriously i like the idea to write a bold note on the digi slate. I'm sure lot's of projects i worked on ended up using my zaxnet scratch.. Hey, it sucks but it's their project.
