  1. Indeed i have one on order and i am not entirely sure what i will use it for until i get my hands on it. Could be using multiples today on a job. So much potential for so many uses
  2. Does return loop back only apply to return A? Trying to fuss with it on set right now and no luck from return B… the manual seems to use A as an example but is not clear that that's the only way for proper function as far as I can tell -Ken
  3. This is assuming your fs7's have the "pro" back not sure what it is called but supplies tc io and battery. There is no pass thru only one port with switch in and out. Use a bnc T adapter to split your tc out to ea cam set to tc in and you are good to go. Worse case no back i manually punch in tc all the time with these cams and it holds well if they stay out of high speed. Tc stays accurate within a few frames to at least keep your recorded audio close
  4. I agree i also use these units side by side. I did a number of tests early on with mine both tuned to 2x trx's. in dual mode on a qrx 200 i get more consistent reception with just whips whereas on a qrx100 i found to employ micplexer and dipoles yielded similar results in my experience. In single mode i noticed equal reception in both units. If you have the ability even just dipoles on the qrx100 would go a long way. But this being said, might not be neccessary depending on your environments. I use my qrx100 all the time to this day along side 200's and would never sell it so i say go for it if its a great deal it is still a worthy investment

    Zelle

Great feedback thank you. It's with a fellow mixer in my region whom I have known for a while so I trust him. But he is younger so I was wanting to make sure this wasn't a fly-by-night service that he just discovered

Someone asked me recently if i would use zelle as payment for gear i am selling. Paypal is all i know. Anyone here for or against this service?

    nova!

With the nova and built in zaxnet - correct me if i am wrong - but couldn't a stereo trx replace the need for camera link trx? Not sure what details i am missing but i just tested with my sound devices/mixplexer2/qrx setup to a rx200 and all seemed to work without interference. I am jazzed at no need to bds power anything if this works as the new way forward.

    nova!

Will the nova or maybe zaxcom recorders in general give the option for split mono bwf and poly file bwf recording? I have a mix of clients where some prefer split mono to grab a single iso track when needed and some want poly for high count track management

    nova!

I realize photos of the nova available now may not truly represent final product but coming from sound devices i am not used to anennas coming out of the face of a mixer. Am i the only one seeing it as odd that to put your thumb n pointer finger on the volume knob as shown in pic below would be tough with an antenna or even worse right angle lowloss antenna cable connected? Has anyone else been able to put their hands on a demo and see if this is even an issue?
  10. Maybe someone xan snap a better photo when your at the camera - This shows where it is located, accepts standard straight 5 pin xlr. Also shown is with wooden camera adapter

    nova!

Glenn in the Gotham video mentioned the option of using sd card adapters in the cf slots - is this something nomad users do as well or is it recommended to stick with approved cf cards

    nova!

Aes ins and outs is something i haven't engaged with personally until i get this nova. Am i understanding correctly that the aes i/o port on the side is in addition to the qrx212 slots for the 12 ch record capabilities and not an either/or input type thing? i watched the gotham vid with Glenn as well as read the literature available and neither seemed to clearly state this for sure. I.e. i was looking to add 2x qrx200's digitally along with the qrx212's to have 8 trx's total if this is all possible

    nova!

I am in line to find this out. Just completed my order for a nova and 2x 212's. Now the wait begins... this thing crosses of a lot on my list when it comes to my particular workflow. Hoping this all in one unit really does the job indeed time will tell. I should be able to give some input on these exact scenarios above - qrx whips vs mic plexer vs dipoles vs nova whips vs nova dipoles in real world comparisons

    nova!

Can anyone comment on if the qrx212 modules will support xr-mono trx's with this unit?
  15. I sleep my zmt's all the time and def do see extended battery life but not quite as much as i recall with la2's. Not sure what fw i am on but i dont believe the latest. Just received a unit from zax repair. Will check fw vers and sleep abilities assuming they updated fw
  16. I wonder if this is refering to the position of it? Its down under the camera at a weird angle but works well nonetheless.
  17. I had great success ea time i have worked with it but only single camera - i know this may have been checked but any chance you working in 29.97 and 1x is set to drop frame? That always causes me to revert to internal if op has presets that set to drop frame as default

    nova!

I personally am a creature of habit and have been all zaxcom wireless but sound devices recorders - this is the first recorder that fits everything for the work i do where i can see i will make the switch. If i see correctly it will xmit audio and tc over zaxnet for erx's but a camera link trx would still be needed for stereo digital and tc for rx200's?
  19. just had a unit sent in for repair and was fixed under warranty. something fried inside where the transmission level dropped to about 10%. has anyone here had any similar issues? specifically i am investigating where switching from a lav at 3v to a boom mic at 45v settings and also occasional dynamic mic with power off, and if any settings might have caused issue for someone else out there. i am wondering if what caused the problem could have been plugging into an re50 w phantom off that was a prop on a podium that i elected to tap into wirelessly. but could also be total coincidence. maybe at that moment it was gonna fail no matter what was plugged into it. my xlr jumper cable was made by trew audio, only stating because my own personal cable making has stopped recently when it comes to smaller lemo's. i suspect the cable is in good shape but wondering with this trx being fairly new still are there any bugs with specific cable wiring that may have been discovered by others? -Ken
  20. Another good point there are 2 popular styles of strain relieve crimp and the little "fingers". The fingers seem to lock good on sankens but not so much on dpa and b6's. If you heatshrink to build up the cable just slips thru unless you glue the shrink good to the cable. Someone please correct me if i am wrong but i believe the crimps are on push pull connectors and fingers on the screw on's?
  21. Man this is already killer advice i wish i had bumbling through the learning curve. That card trick will come in handy. Ive snipped pins on ta5f's but never occured to me on these. Just for fun start with building alexa mini audio input lemos that way these 3 pin lemos will be cake
  22. Others with more skill than myself might have better info. If you are careful and have the right tools it can be done successfully. I have done quite a few and done repairs as well when they get yanked. The right connectors for starters are essential. Genuine lemos all the way. Avoid the cheap knockoffs or pay the price of finding out they dont actually connect. Push-pull or threaded are a matter of personal preference. Good solder iron w swappable tips to get the fine point. good solder of the smaller diameter and a ring light magnifier on an articulating arm is helpful. And last but not least some patience! Its fun to say you did it. But now i pay the higher price for the usual suspects to do it for reliability sake. When they do it on the frequent they to a better job than i can these days
  23. I personally have had success with tentacle and all mini's i have worked with, but i know a few others differ. I suspect current mini fw updates might be where the tentacle is more reliable. I am personally getting the feeling denecke n ambient are the most reliable at present across the board? But i would love to hear your feedback on the amira menu if it is indeed similar to the mini - particularly confirming project timebase frame rate and genlock set to tc in settings and if you had jamming success. These menu items are deeper than i was able to get familiar with. Ultimately i want to be able to attach an ERX to a mini with totall successful tc and a guide track. To this day i have relied on other methods with every Mini I have come in contact with present firmware included and through multiple friendly ac's trying to figure it out quickly. If I do get a chance to sit with a Mini and run thru all these tests I will report back.
  24. Exactly thats why i mentioned above i wonder if this applies to the mini. Others here mentioned they use the same fw updates. Its worth going thru the link as it looks like it covers a lot in the sync process that may be overlooked
