  1. I really believe for what this receiver lacks it makes up for in flexibility. It is exactly what I need to slim down the bulk on certain cameras. Plus it is not limited to just camera mount. I wouldn't call it a giant leap, but certainly a step in the right direction -Ken
  2. Duh sorry they were black panasonic eneloops -Ken
  3. Hey Jack, i just finished a run of tests on 2x zaxcom transmitters with the newer black eneloops - a trxla2.5 and a trxlanc block 20 both getting pretty close to equal results. just over 6 hours at 50mw and about 4 hours 45 minutes at 125mw. LREC, sanken cos 11D's attached, etc -Ken
  4. i know i cant afford to be there. if i start hiking now i can be to nj by the time they get back -Ken
  5. the suspense on this rx200 is killing me! i am not one to camp in front of apple for the next iDevice but i am looking for my tent right now and google mapping pompton plains -Ken
  6. Discharge and Reconditioning - is this also a standard practice for a lot of you every few weeks/months? This is new to me. Even though i seemed to Get decent amount of life out of rech batteries previously they might have lasted longer overall had i used chargers like these vs thehighspeed 4 bank chargers. I like the concept of multi channels that monitor ea battery individually. The 4 banks i have been using only are 2 channel and work only when min 2 batts inserted in tandem which is a waste if only one of the two were actually used -Ken
  7. I've been using multipe standard 4 bank chargers for years - energizer, duracell, etc. but I often see discussions from others here mentioning various results of measuring charges of aa's with fancier sounding chargers that also charge more than 4 batts at a time. Can anyone recommend? -Ken

    FB

I do feel the responses here are lightning fast in most cases. The Zaxcom group, not so much. Jack – do you feel Facebook is possibly the better option to get input for zaxcom specific questions? I've always had better luck asking zaxcom questions here personally vs the zaxcom group, even asking the same question in both places. Its been a while since i've been on the zaxcom boards but it seems like a public "ask Howie" forum -Ken

    FB

am i missing something by not ever looking at facebook? i've noticed a lot of cross-talk between jw and facebook and a lot of my fellow mixer friends talk only of facebook posts as their source of new info instead of jw. i feel a sense of loyalty to jw and its members for all the help over the years (thanks Jeff for all you do! just watched the LA SOUND GROUP youtube video for the first time). i pretty much avoid facebook audio topics for the same reason i avoid facebook socially. i feel like i dont have time and facebook sometimes drives me nuts. Here i feel is a place to immediately goto and talk shop without all the riffraff that goes with facebook. am i missing out? -Ken
  10. dave i am standing by willing to beta test! tried my waist only harness after lunch and only lasted about 1/2 hour before i switched back. dont know the problem was the harness so much as my belt buckle getting pressed into me on top of just eating lunch. i tried lifting the harness above my hips but then it felt like it was too much pull on my lower back. finding a way to rest on the hips is key. i LOVE booming reaching up high without a top-half harness counteracting my movements and pulling on my shoulders. at this point i am willing to try anything new when it comes to harnesses. baby bjorn idea is genius! -Ken
  11. Sadly i've ditched my waist harness...for now. It worked great at first until my first long day with it run n gun. I think my bag although super compact for all i can do from it, still a bit too heavy for all day use. Total bummer. I have the orca full harness now. Comfy but i am unhappy with the upper body constraint that the waist harness releaved me of. Wish i could find an in between. I can still use it occasionally tho. Gonna try again this afternoon after using the full harness this morning. Anyone else modify or come up with any upgrades to waist harnesses? On another note, I know this is subjective but long term Is it possible the waist harness can put too much stress on the lower back and maybe i should just deal with the full harness? -Ken
  12. +1 on the black panasonic eneloops they have great stamina even against trusty energizer liths -Ken
  13. Wow interesting point. Good thinking -Ken
  14. I have to agree w jack too. using zaxnet remote commands after lectro remote, the difference is like email vs a fax machine. While the lectro app was cool when i first started using it, now it feels old school getting into peoples personal space and making weird noises when nerves on set are on edge as it is at times. I too own more lectro channels than zaxcom. But after using zaxnet sometimes i feel anything else is a step back for me on the job. -Ken
  15. Rx200 - what kind of crazy cable(s) will i have to make for you? Want to make sure i have everything ready for when you arrive
  16. the G series definitely have a distinct crunch on high end frequencies of dialog that is not necessarily a good thing but passable i guess with the general viewing/listening public. i can generally spot one upon listening right away on reality shows etc. IMHO they works great for camera guys one-man-band'ing. i say go for the 210's. i completely agree w above. the g series work great for timecode and wireless returns! -Ken
  17. i had this happen once and i cant recall exactly but it was somthing set wrong at the transmitter. i am sure multiple wrong settings could create this. if i can recreate what i did wrong i will pass it along. I have block 20 talent and block 22 camera link and i am not sure i had any issues at all in the various spots in the u.s. i have worked. -Ken

    Aerials

i just happened to run across this in my scraps bin thought i'd post it. constantin - are these the same types you currently have? this is one of three that snapped on me. the other two were from bnc versions -Ken
  19. I should clarify I flew with 2 poles, the shorter one being in my carry on duffle and my main pole in my checked suitcase. Maybe the pole conforming to standard size carry-on dim's helps i.e. The pole fits in that size chart thing at the gate. And maybe being all inside a dufflebag helps. -Ken
  20. I carried mine on no problem in my duffle bag with the mixer bag. it was a ktek traveler and fit well. I was all prepared to defend its right to be carried on and had no issues at all. I have heard stories of large poles carried on as well without issues. -Ken

Don't know if this helps but a great video for DIY dipole antennas for transmitters and receivers https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N5pkmrzsPHs -Ken
  22. funny i thought the exact same thing! was looking at my qrx235 and ext batt back on the side of an f55 thinking damn that is still too much bulk but its packed with so many sweet features i cant really complain. Someone will complain eventually. Rx200 here i come. -Ken
