  1. That "guy" makes some kickass cables! Frankly the sexiest cables i have ever seen -Ken
  2. When you move quick i personally feel one less thing to think about can sometimes save your arse. Was nice on 442 locked to A return when you wanted it. But you are correct. Plus there is a visual cue to show return signal if making sure you are connected to camera is all you need. Doesnt help w accidental "bump" to camera mic but then that is what the recorder is for right?? -Ken
  3. Love it - bought a similar one of these to power another 3v device - possibly a zoom for transcription? But never got around to it and later never use the zoom like i used to. Now you got me thinking outside of the zoom box what else i can use that little gadget on... -Ken
  4. Good tip Andy i might try that as well. One of those things I just became used to vs looking into a solution. -Ken
  5. Thanks! This is the type i was looking for rather than the thousands of wallwarts on ebay. I thought maybe i might have one on hand but none have the right amps. Ken
  6. Agreed - and swapping the connector is easy enough, but is it safe to use some random power supply that meets these specs but is designed for something else? I imagine so but certainly dont want to damage this new mixer. I would prefer a solution from a usual susp vs ebay, or also prefer a users suggestion of a quality power supply that they might be using and having success with. Ken
  7. I received my Solice Mini last week and very excited to have it now to say the least. Currently running tests with my setup via lithium NP1 for now but looking into other power options as well as an AC power supply to have multiple power options on hand when renting out. I called PSC and tech support said one is not officially available yet but a 12-14v 2 amp AC power supply would do the job. they offered to modify an existing power supply for another mixer (swap out to 4 pin xlrf) at roughly $100. I also contacted a usual suspect to see what options they may have available. In the meantime does anyone have anything in use to recommend for AC adaptation? Ken
  8. Oddly this might be exactly what i need for my car where i can bluetooth my old school iphone and NOT connect the phone just the ipod. I am gonna give it a shot. Thanks for the post! Ken
  9. Wow this link was a great read Ken
  10. +1 for me too chris, anxious to see what your trick is with the shrink and safety pin my mind is boggled! Ken
  11. After buying zaxcom wireless i experienced a similar situation. Someoned clued me in to being used to lectrosonics - possibly you have also been used to smart nr (noise reduction) engaged which seams to be default. If you have the ability to test your shure along side a lectrosonics, and turn smart nr off, chances are you might find the answer you are looking for. Ken
  12. Thanks sean for the feedback. I was planning on what seems like a similar setup. Are you feeding cams from the 664, and by chance keeping it able to breakaway for bag work or is your setup strictly cart based? Ken
  13. Success! completed this morn on both the 211 and 411 - turns out they did indeed use the same switch, the super helpful CS at lectro was very generous with help getting the parts i needed. he must have put in a bad part number and sent me a push button menu switch. ordering 3x power switches anticipating a future need was a smart move so i ended up ok with enough switches. now i have a menu switch for down the road if i need it. the 211 and 411 switches were fairly easy to replace. the UM200C switch, not so much relatively speaking. i managed to get it swapped but took a little extra time and messing about. now all is good! Larry - the transmitter switch (the more expensive one) seemed to fall apart when i got it out and i could see the inner workings, yet the receiver switches (the less expensive ones) seemed solid and hermetically sealed. looked like a major difference in build for a similar type of switch. although maybe mine fell apart as a result of being damaged hence needing replaced. certainly glad for the help here really appreciate everyone's input. Ken on a side note - when i was heating and pulling off the old solder, tip of the iron slipped off and blasted right into my thumb. OUCH! the quick move plus the heat cauterized a small hole in my thumb. it was painful yet simultaneously fascinating. tip was clean so hopefully i can keep the thumb for a while
  14. +1 on the board it seems to be a good fit for cart work as i see them on those large cast judging shows, etc. i had this one as well as the 10ch 4bus version and i wished i could put both in a shrinkydink oven. i dont know any other boards in this class that had the routing functions and jumper pins under the hood to take it even further on ea channel. you really are the mix wizard Ken Ken
  15. Curious to know any updates from solice mini users. about to buy one before the end of the year for use with a 664 or 633 depending on job requirements. has the solice mini been working out good so far? any hydra users or custom breakaway cable configs for cart-to-run-n-gun? Ken
  16. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngf_L1LHzAk Thought some folks here might find this entertaining...I sure did Ken
  17. I too have found success with the petrol. Been using it last couple months and it seems to be the lightest / smallest footprint 4 ch wireless rig i could come up with. Still a little bit work in progress. I keep 4 transmitters plus tools and lav bits in the front, 3 zaxcom and 3 lectrosonics wired lavs in the sanken cases, and i too have my np1 slid under 633 via right side entry. Got used to accessing media by touch. I considered the other bags mentioned here but this seemed to fit my needs. I feel i can still squeeze 2 more channels of wireless and some other stuff if i really wanted to take it to the limit. Dont know exact weight at present but no complaints from my back so far compared to my 664 rig. Ken
  18. FWIW i had seemingly good success for a friend adding canare cable wired for tc to his existing camera snake with 1" pieces of heatshrink every foot or so. If you lay it out just so you can get the coiling between the two cables to match well. Ta3 connectors were used to have a break for the added tc cable. Ken
  19. Wow. I remember doing sound at a bar for a band some years ago and they were so proud of their midi controlled octave machine thingy because they didn't want to pay for a bass player. They still paid me though. More than they got paid. Guess at the time they were on the cutting edge of shrinking Ken
  20. Same here. I check the X1/X2 matrix screen quite a bit now to be safe. Ken
  21. Did you possibly try cross-jamming 29 into 23 from the erx and/or direct from your nomad? I am betting tho it might be the epic in need of repair. Ken
  22. Thats it! Just contacted the place i bought the case from to see if i can purchase. Missed the "mobility" key word in my search. Might also look into modifying it with a version of my own. Thank you for the link Ken
  23. somewhere on jwsoundgroup i saw someone post a photo of upgraded wheels that looked similar to the mounting style of the ones on my 1560 - only they were better quality inline skate style and required added bumpers to level out, etc. cant seem to find it. i dont quite need the all terrain style of the 2750 wheels in the other discussion thread but somewhere in between those and what i have now would be nice. checked google ebay case suppliers etc but no luck so far. Ken
  24. just ordered my switches from lectro. 82 cents ea. i order 3 to have a few extra why not. while i was at it i ordered a new switch for my old 211 rx and 200 tx backup kit that both have switches taped to on position currently. the 200 tx switch was 9.95. still not bad. thanks for everyone's input i am gonna go for it. Ken
