  1. The cardioid because it has that heart on it. Just makes me feel so loved.
  2. Surprised no mention of timecode. That is something that in this situation could save HOURS and consequently DOLLARS of frustration with post. Of course neither camera supports practical timecode which is another thing that should be addressed. Yes, when mixing reality I try and provide the best mix my skillset and the situation will allow. The mix is for IFB, dailies, and as a guide track for syncing. When you have eight people jabbering at once, nobody is going to complain if you can't provide a broadcast ready mix. Though from the description I'm reading, I'm pretty sure this will never make broadcast.
  3. The site reminds me of some of those Geocities pages that cropped up in the halcyon days of Netscape 4.0 for Windows 95.
  4. Forget button monkey. They couldn't even afford an ordinary monkey! Seriously, I did research. http://www.piratesforparties.com/monkey_for_birthday_party.htm
  5. Is there a version with 400hz tone? I find that easier on the ears.
  6. Yoshi, I'd contact your local dealer about getting a demo. It's been my experience that most are happy to oblige.
  7. There have been a lot of votes for Heffron. http://www.insuremyequipment.com
  8. Thanks Matt! That site has been added to my Bookmark Toolbar!
  9. What does it mean to be highly skilled in signal flow?
  10. Subway should switch to the metric system. The metric system is better. I can get a 30.48cm tuna! Sorry, that was a weird tangent.
  11. Let's not forget about the number 47. http://www.47.net/47society/
  12. I've seen worse, but why is it that they all insist on telling us how to do our jobs? Innovative and cultural documentary centered film production company seeks an experienced Sound Mixer for ground breaking film about spirituality in the African diaspora. Ideal candidate will be responsible for recording all sound during filming. This involves the choice and deployment of microphones, operation of a sound recording device, and sometimes the mixing of audio signals in real time. 422 Grand Avenue (google map) (yahoo map) Location: Brooklyn it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests Compensation: Rates to be discussed
  13. Yeah, but I buy those organic Newman-Os. According to those, the world will end next Friday. It's all very confusing!
  14. Yeah I got boned my first C300 shoot because of that. Why can't they use the standard indicators that ever other camera manufacturer uses? That's just moronic UI design if you ask me.
  15. I've gotten into the habit of yelling "Sound cuts!" because otherwise nobody would know. It's a habit I formed after doing too many shows exactly like the OP's script.
  16. Yeah, but you can't get the necessary 1.21 jigowatts out of an NP1.
  17. I think the point of Jack's Starbucks comment was more hyperbole since there's entry level work that pays that much or more, though those rates are inappropriate for skilled labor, much less skilled labor that isn't always consistent!
  18. Paying less for an 18 hour day. Remember, it's flat so no OT! I think Starbucks jobs start at 9-10 an hour, though PT workers get health insurance which is worth some money, though not sure about the employee contribution to that.
  19. 5 pin on the One. Is the Red set to Rec Run? I can think of no other reason for that scenario.
  20. Shop around and you can find a used Fr2 in the sub 1000 range. Great recorder, does AES though I've had great results feeding it analog line level from my mix pre-d. You may be able to get one with time code in that price range for future expansion.
  21. That's more or less every reality show set I've been on.
  22. On my Nomad from my apartment on the third floor with relatively modern construction methods in NYC, I was able to go out the front door and walk about 40 or 50 feet away before getting rapid dropouts. Measurements weren't too precise though.
  23. There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers. And yes, it's a generic Denecke type battery sled.
