  1. Chris, if my memory serves me correctly wasn't there a -12 mark on a Fostex PD4?
  2. Unless my maths is flawed the units quoted from the E-Bay advert are a totally different animal to Glen's new product. Two of the units are rated at 68,800Ma/h which is just over 825w/h whilst Glens are rated at 49 & 98 respectively. Malcolm Davies.
  3. Phillip, A few years ago I was doing a movie in Corsica, Just up the road was a French crew doing a huge "Bond" type movie. The mixer was an old guy and he had one. He swore by it. He just had a 416 the mixer and two radio mics and that was it.
  4. I had similar thoughts Daniel until I saw the quality that Eric was turning out in Spain. His work is outstanding and IMHO it's not worth the hassle of trying to find anyone in the UK.
  5. Eric, no it turns out that I was incorrect. The photo I was referring to was of YOUR pouches for the T/C generators as published on FB. I thought it was the same photo as the knobs from Mumbai.
  6. I'm convinced I have seen a photo of some 3D printed Zoom F8 extended knobs and some holders for time code units this week but can't find them. Anyone else see them?
  7. James, keep an eye on a certain FB forum. In a couple of weeks Rycote may just have the answer fo you.
  8. Al in the same vein I have my friend who is arguably Europe's finest film caterer. He has a sign in his kitchen truck that says: We do not add salt whilst cooking. We do however sprinkle every thing with sarcasm whilst serving.
  9. I have had the privilege of working with some of the best First Assistant directors in the UK. I have always found that give them respect and they will respect you and your job. One guy I work with knows that if I come on set then there is a problem.
  10. Is there any software other than PDF pro that anyone uses for putting a script onto a mini I-pad or onto a similar size of tablet
  11. Thanks for that Howy. All the 128Gb Transcend are 800x and higher so it would appear that it has to be Sandisk as most of these are 160x. The only rankle is the fact that your support recommended 800x. Malcolm Davies. A.m.p.s. CAS.
  12. Howy, I was hoping that you or someone from Zaxcom would respond to my post about card makes and speed but emails to the factory and requests for information here seem to have fallen on deaf ears. When you say 400x or less is 400 the max speed we can use or if its less how low can the speed be and can I use 128GB card for the primary? Malcolm.
  13. All well and good John I would love to operate as you suggest but some clown in support recommended a product that Howy is now saying don't use.
  14. Thanks for this feedback Jose. You are doing exactly what I had in mind it's just this thing about Lexar that has thrown me a bit. I am hoping that someone senior at Zaxcom will reply with a definitive answer soon.
  15. Fair point John. I was interested in order to get as much of the film on one master card. More of an issue now though is the revelation from Howy not to use Lexar cards especially after being told by the factory that these were the ones to use and having expended a substantial amount of money on these cards I really wish that Zaxcom would all sing off the same hymn sheet. This is the second occasion that inaccurate info has been given by the lesser minions of the company and has cost me and a couple of others here in the UK money.
  16. Howy, someone at your support recommended me to buy Lexar 800x 64Gb. So I bought some. I also bought some 32 &16. Are you now saying that these might be a problem? In which case What would you buy in 128Gb for the primary slot in terms of make and speed? And what about the secondary slot in 16 and 32Gb. Incidentally the Lexars are all UDMA 7. Malcolm Davies.
  17. This has come as a bit of a surprise. I was sure that someone would be using 128Gb.
  18. Has anyone used a large capacity CF card in the primary slot of a Fusion, If so what sort of speed?
  19. Slight personal critique The leads would have looked a lot better if the cables had exited at 7 O'clock instead of 11
  20. Something definitely smells. The auction ended with no takers so its back on for 29 days. The description (If I'm reading it correctly ) says its manufactured by Bose and it isn't powered and it has 16 line inputs. M.
  21. Whoever is selling it has enrolled in E-Bays international delivery service so they must know who the seller is.
  22. Daniel, there are two models of con box: one causes handling noise from the word go and the second model is the one which will starts after a short time. I have never liked them since their inception and whilst it's a purely personal thing I think it's well named!
  23. Chris, If your system is fitted with a con-box you need to buy a catapult, go to a deep lake and fire it in. What you need is 500mm of cotton covered Litz microphone cable to go between the mic and the Rycote Xlr clip. Malcolm Davies.
  24. Simon Wrote David Lane - I remember when I bought my 2nd hand Nagra, I took it to him, he put it into play, and said... 'I know where this machine came from - I recognise the chuffing noise that the motor makes. He was an absolute genius!! David was Instrumental in finding me my first Nagra 3 which came from a Soho company called Document Films owned by a man called Doug Macintosh who went on to start SQN in the Isle of Man and is still at the helm of the company.
