  1. I went there few times between 2011-2013 with gear (302 + 744t + Lectro etc.) No one saying anything. In the custom check point before I went out of the airport. They did ask me what inside of the pelican. I told them its audio mixer, kind of like a DJ playing music. ( I could tell them I am a doc sound mixer, however that might make them confuse of what I do and what is doc audio mixer etc. I went to a easy explanation.) Never open the pelican. When I came out from the airport. It's free of rule I guess. At least for me, no one bothered. Good luck. It's hot there tho!
  2. I am on my way to MKH50 this year, but before I pull my trigger, I was getting interested in Sennheiser ME64 as a bridging mic. It might fit in your budget range. It also has self power shell, and ME66 shotgun option by swapping K6 modular to a ME66 capluse.
  3. interesting notice! I got the same feeling! Even with sony d11 comparing to all my Lectros. And sennheiser G3 with its original Lav. I thought it might due to the mic placement or the standing position of the subjects. Since you brought this topic up. It's interesting that I got the same feeling. In addition, it doesn't seem that the noise floor from G3 or D11 are identical on location. It's quite a bit when I do side by side comparing between all the wireless.
  4. I found that the Low budget wireless UWP-11D and G3 have much higher noise floor then the pro ones, Lectro, zax. However, in the real situation, it's quite ok, I have both for backup, or hop mainly.
  5. I think because of their hard drive inside of the recorder, if you only use CF card, you get much less RF. I only used 788T for a while tho
  6. No way! With shark fin might be possible. My 411 doesn't go that far with SMa (100mw) on bag operation, with normal whips.
  7. My LA got few times, talents also complaint about the heat from the transmitter. I turned the output power to 50w, seemed solve the problem, but I compromise on the transmit power. Luckily it was a short distance shoot. I ran few tests. The more function you enabled, the more heat you got from it. Especially for the zaxnet function. Self running doesn't cause lots of heat from my test. And also the transmit power. I keep 50mw for most of time, if I suffer a lot from the rf, I only boot it up to 125w
  8. My Maxx got power failure, could not boot up last year. There was nothing I can do on that moment. Need to open the shell and do some electrician work. I didn't do it, but sent back to the mothership. Check your serial number, I heard the first batch having power safety problem.
  9. Thanks Larry for the explanation. Appreciate your input and help as always! Hiro
  10. Hi guys, Sorry for bring this topic back up again. I got this situation, where the presenter was shouting all the time. My SMa was down to -15 or -10. I got heavily distorted limiter audio while he was shouting in the scene. At that moment, I could not figure it out why I was getting poor audio. However, the second day, I have noticed that on the receiver LCD (Gain Arrow meter getting lots of squares) which indicated overloading. I changed my receiver's level down to -20db from +5. The overloading square on the LCD disappeared, and limiter was not engaged all the time or not as I noticed. I thought on the receiver (UCR411) no matter I set -20, or +5, it would take the full range of the audio...however, if +5 will cost easy overload on the receiver side. I would rather choose the saver setting.... Sorry about my poor english, hopefully that makes sense. What I meant was +5 (Line Level) might cost overload on the receiver itself. Mic line, might avoid this problem OR may be I already got the overload audio from my sanken COS11D at first place. Cheers Hiro
  11. It's a bit brutal for the post editor even! Extreme crazy verite style! I did a doc, shot on Alexa, cameraman refused to do handheld more than 30mins, purely because he could not perform better.
  12. I did a verite style shoot in a wine collection house, underground... End up with lots heavy air conditioning wind blowing from the celling. Softie was on for that shoot. I felt lucky that I didn't put it off. Hiro
  13. Not only IFB200. My 633 got interference from QRX100 QIFB as well, also some of my microphones can't be near to the IFB antenna. oktava and cs3e. I lowered transmitting power, and but antenna towards outside. It seems solve the problem. The funny thing is that it seems the interference only affecting the inputs, which means it is not going to the record. The recorded tracks are clean as my case.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion Christian. If the distance and the audio quality comparing between the S and L series are more or less the same. I also would like to try the new products!!! Hiro
  15. I did 20 days shoot in the States last year. The client applied a business visa for me. It allowed me to carry gear in the States...cos the introduction letter written I was a crew for the documentary production shoot. Travelled domestic flight and international flight with security check points. No problem at all. By the way, I didn't get carnet tho. I didn't know what it was at the time. Hiro
  16. I am also waiting for the LR series come out. Anyone have opinions on whether getting LR series or still stick to SRb + SMV ? I am still hesitating on whether I should get the SM series or the LR series. Hiro
  17. zaxcom LA doesn't take the black xxx batteries from my experience. However, Lectro SMa doesn't work well with the white eneloop! I am shooting a doc with couple of SMa, and I have both white and black eneloop, white ones just doesn't hold for long. Hiro
  18. I just changed the battery, easy to do, but messed up the screws, some longer ones and some pretty short. Opened it, took out the battery to show the sample to the hardware store, they ordered it from somewhere else. Wait a bit, but all good. Hiro
  19. I own Portabrace AO 1 and 4, I am kind of hoping there are more options on the divider. There are velcro and harsh divider come with the bag, but I am always lacking some proper partition to keep one or another gear separated. Or even a holder for few wireless with velcro or tights...or some pouches with velcro..then we could stick to another where we like in the bag or even outside of it. Thanks for bringing out the thread. Hiro
  20. I remember once I got reception problem, because I incidentally turned on the AES options. Re-check your menu see if any luck:)
  21. Got a BBC shoot few years back. It was cancelled 7pm the day before, producer agreed with full rate cancellation fee. But it never arrived my bank since, after lots of emails and conversations. Bad Luck I assume Hiro
  22. Yeah, return it if I am in the situation. At least find the nearest repairing shop to change the LCD.
  23. Yes, the scratch track is only for transcribing and reference, they will sync all my recorded track in post. Thanks Josefrias Hiro
  24. Thanks guys for your valuable inputs. Just wanna share with you, I did a workflow test with the crew. It worked fine on the test on both audio feed and timecode level. I set my ERX2TCD to -20 audio and timecode volts to 0.63...I can't remember the exact number, but leveled the -12 mark on the 5D audio inputs. I tested on a pair of HD26...sounded great! Thanks Hiro
  25. Hi guys Gonna have a shoot soon. The client wants to have a device or two to do ch1: mixed audio ch2: timecode signal (they will do the conversion of the wave audio form timecode to actual timecode) I am just wondering if any one tried this setup on ERX2TCD to a 5D with 3.5 mini jack cable. Sending ref audio and timecode at the same time. I am worrying the 5D will blend the timecode channel signal to the audio track. Other cameras such as epic, scarlet , c300, won't, I have tired before. Thanks Hiro
