  1. Hi John, I believe the second Chinese mixer that you showed MAXX to, his name is "QIAO XIN" NOT Qiai Xin
  2. Hi guys, Here is an update of the Sanken Cos-11D test. I went to a gear house to check the COS -11D, they told me that it didn't wire the way, either like on the sanken website or Lectros, which is with 1k (external resistor, I am not sure what it is called, it's a small bean shape block). So I asked them for the re-wiring. However, it is not the Sanken COS-11D problem! It might be the transmitter or receiver's limiter, if there is any.... After the re-wiring, they brought up their SMD along with UCR411 for testing the lav, which sounds good and also we tested a countryman B3...on my SMQv, also with hiss..... So the conclusion for today: Nothing wrong with the Sanken COS-11D, with old wiring or re-wiring. they sounded ok on UCR411 +SMd Plugged countryman B3 on my SRb + SMQv, still have hiss.... which I am not sure if that's wireless limiters ....enable ...or anything. I remembered ... when I didn't interview with the interviewee, the ones with hiss.... They all did the interviews with their cell phone on, even they told me was off...actually, they must mute the ring... I think I will try to run more test... At the meantime, thanks for everyone's inputs! Hiro
  3. Thanks so much guys for our valuable inputs! Hope that solve the problem. I bought the whole set from Gothamsound about a month ago. Ideally, they would not give me a wrong wiring sanken Cos11Ds to match my SMQv unites... however, I will double check for sure. Send Sanken back to Japan is my last step ...I might just get two countryman B3 instead if theshipping and repairing cost a lot. ;( I have only used them for few days .... what a life! Hiro
  4. At the moment, I can't be 100% sure if the sanken cos 11d s are broken. I suspend that's the smqv s limiter as well or the wireless interference .... I am getting a set of UCR411 + UM400a to give one last try to make sure where its the problem. I have already contact sanken, see what they say about it;(. Sometimes shxt happens:( Thanks guys for your inputs. Hiro
  5. Hey guys, Thanks so much for your reply, I really really appreciate your inputs. So ...you guys are saying ... SMQv doesn't go well with NiMh, if I use Energizer lithium or normal AAs will get longer battery life. I will give a try! Thanks again! Hiro
  6. Weird stuff as well, I just heard that he used my Zaxcom ones (Sanken Cos-11Ds) On the music recording as well ...... I just did test, Nothing wrong with the Cos 11D.... whats the problem then... ? I have no other lavs which were not suffered from the music recording...s... I need to do a test on other countryman B3 that I have to make sure if its the lav problem or my new SMQv+ SRb ;( ....BAD ... that's really BAD! HIRO
  7. Hi guys, I got another issue here on my Sanken Cos-11D. Lend two of them to a friend of mine who used them NOT for interviews or Miking people. On a gig shoot, instead of shooting interviews, the producer decided to record the band's playing.... Without asking me.... My friend gaffer taped my both Sanken cos-11D on those big ass Guitar speaker and bass speaker to get clear sound. He told me that his audio level were not clipping at all... HOWEVER, after I got back my two cos-11D, I did an interview today, it sounded a bit hissss.... when the interviewee speaks up.... is like if there is no one talks, the sound seems to be ok, but when a bit higher volume, the audio is with a bit outline of hisss........... I experienced that even before my friend did this to my Sanken Cos-11D.... Anyone knows what might be the problem, should I send the lavs back to Sanken to have a check ? Thanks a lot Hiro
  8. I was using 100w, but after I realized that the power consumption was too much, I switched to 50W, but now I am back to 100W, cos 50w doesn't really make any better. Thanks for the inputs Hiro
  9. Hi guys, Am I having problem with the power consumption on my SMQv or I am just panic for nothing. I bought two SMQVs with SRb a month ago. and I am using NiMh batteries to power them. With two SANYO eneloop 2,450mAh, each of them only have about 3 hours life time. However, I used to have a SMa, with single battery (Same battery) it takes about 3 hours. I just realized that the battery life is not as good as the manual's stated. Is that normal with the battery life? Another thing I noticed that.... if I take out two batteries from SMQv_A, which has full batteries level (Showed on my SRb) to put into SMQv_B 's battery compartment. It only shows 80%of the battery level ? Which mean, one of the SMQv is more power consuming than another. .... ;( I am trying different brand of batteries after I finish the shoot. However, I don' t think it's the battery problem. Your advice and opinion are highly appreciated Thanks Hiro
  10. I had a chance to work with Wisycoms before with a British crew. The receiver is same size of Sra, which could slot in to those big broadcast cameras. Transmitter is like Sennheiser wireless 5000 series with LCD screen. Pretty cool looks, very good quality sounding. I guess it is just not that popular in US or Asia.
  11. Worked with C300 couple of times...Really difficult to talk to the cameraman, while I am holding my small brick (QRX100) and trying to find a place to put it on with an external battery attached on the QRX. However, there were for occasions on the C300 shoot, cameraman extended his rig and using a Vlock battery powering his camera. That might be a good chance to mount. I normally talk to the post guys straight to get permission to only send a reference audio (G3 wireless) to the camera... then will sync in the post. Good luck on that!
  12. Are you using UM400 or UM400a? How 's your mic wired ? Servo bias ?
  13. It's certainly 30mw! Senator. My mistake! I will have a test soon, if I could not figure out what it is, I have to run two long cables and mount the RXs in a nearest position with TXs. The last thing I could do is to send the two wireless back to Lectrosonics to check... but that's the last option, I would not want to do that. Cheers Thanks a lot guys! Appreciate Hiro
  14. I think the IFB is a sort of model which not for broadcast use, it's for those tour groups or conference translations. That's why the transmitter is with a mic on, not a line in. I was not the supplier for this thing. The client only told me it's a bout 30w of the transmit power.
  15. Thanks so much guys for your valuable inputs here. Really really appreciate all the replies. I am going to check everything and run some test first, I am sure I will figure out the problem, especially with all your helps! Best to all Hiro
  16. I rented the IFB, which I don;t really pay attention... however, my wireless is not even on the same frequency block ... one 26, another 28. If IFB is the cause, it would be one of the wireless... should not be too. hmmm....we have 6 crew on this shoot, each time we do interview, I asked them to turn off the cellphone...however, I did saw the gaffer were using checking their twitters after a while... I think they put the cellphone on silence..not off. But again, the drop out only be heard when the subjects moves a lot... there is one time, the producer came in front of me, I can hear one of the channel clipping one or twice... I didn't try one channel at the time, because I tried to provide them two channels of audio. Thanks a lot guys Hiro
  17. The problem, I assume is the motion... because the moment they move, it cause the drop off... I move my sound bag, it also cause the drop off... if nobody moves, the signal on my UCR411 stays half.... but it sounds good.
  18. I was using a Portabrace AO1 bag, which I put my UCR411 upfront, then in the bag itself 302 first, then 744T. so... 302 is in between of the receivers and 744T. I didn't scan my frequency ... thought I don't need to.. (My fault and laziness) IFB is about half meter away from my sound bag. UCR411 is side by side in the bag. Antennas are original from Lectrosonics, only one from audio remote... Transmitter is all original ones. And at the beginning, the Sma drop off is more often then the um400a, after that, sometimes we are the same I think... are my transmitters placement also cause the problem. I put them on the objects belt behind. Thanks Jason Hiro
  19. Hi guys, Just wondering this drop off is normal or a technical limitation. I am doing a documentary in a small village. Shooting a cemented primary school building with lots of windows. There are only 5 classrooms as the first floor. I was requested from the director, "Not being around during the interview." because mainly it's about the poor condition of the area, and the interviewees cry a lot. so... Obvious with a person holding a big blimp with fur is not something they see it every day . and I have to use IFB send translations back to director and camera. Basically, my setup is Ch1 Boom with butt plug transmitter, Ch2 wireless SMa transmitter. Both receivers are UCR411, one on Block 28, another is on 26. I was about 20-30 meters away from the scene with a translatior listening my 302 and I am monitoring from a 744t. She has a miked IFB, which means the IFB with a small mic on it. Three receivers on director, cameraman and producer. I am kind of in a clear environment, there is no big tree or barrier between me and the interviewee... but lots of times I am getting drop off and I am trying to hold my bag and go closer, so.. the moment I move myself, it's where the drop off starts....on both channel.... then after that we did a walk and talk, two person miced one on sMa and another um400a When they walking .... I got drop off , but it's about just 10 meters away... Sorry about my rough english, hopefully you guys got the pic of what problem I am having.... Any idea why the drop off is so much .... I mean if someone use walkie talkie a bit, I probably get one or two clips, but I truly believe the drop off caused by the movements of the subject... I felt really bad, because that's something I cant ask the director for another take.... Is that because of my UCR411 settings.... but there is no that kind of settings I guess. I put the SmartNoise deduction to full, for my own preference.... I kind of need to know why it's like that, in order to avoid next time. Your inputs are highly appreciated ! Thanks in advance Hiro
  20. I have a portabrace AX o1 and a PS607. For ENG, PS607 is much mobiled and fast move around. with two wireless hanging out, I broke one of the antennas for my UCR411, but mainly it's cause of my careless and also the cables at the bottom...sometimes you have to keep in mind, don't get trapped by things. It's cool back. I love it. Portabrace makes me looks like a pregnant woman. hiro
  21. UCR411 x 2 in my soundbag, Sennheiser EW112 G3 x 2 in my bagpack for wireless hop, sometimes act like extra wireless. Upgrading to QRX100 Zaxcom soon
  22. Never wired for leather, if I do it, stick a B6 out of the jacket a bit, if the jacket and B6 are all in black, a bit head out will sound much better and I don't think it is so visual.... with police's gear, walkie talkie, straps, belts and stuff. Or anyway The lav could go from the back to the hat ... stick a gaffer at the edge of the police hat? just a thought.
  23. Yeah... there are quite a lot of fake ones in China, even fake 416, Oktava and Scheops...!
  24. Thank you very much for your valuable inputs guys ! Appreciate. Hiro
