  1. Since you own a few 411s already, the Lectro SR dual receiver in your bag would make a lot of sense. Lighter, less power consumption, you could use the transmitters you already have. I was using one next to a 411 in my bag this past weekend, and it seemed like I was getting identical range from both receivers. Cheers, Rich
  2. What a great idea... $39?! It's made of pure silver then, right?
  3. I don't use that mixer/recorder combination, but I do have both the Petrol 602 bag, and the PortaBrace AO-2XB. I bought the AO-2XB because I thought I needed a bit more room in my bag (for that ever expanding number of receivers!) and I've since reverted back to my Petrol bag. The AO-2XB is nice and big and is constructed with really strong Cordura nylon, but the pockets in front and on the sides, were too big and things would always seem to get lost in them. I know you didn't mention black as a colour specifically, but the black interior on mine didn't help with finding things. There were some clever holes where you needed them for cable routing etc, but overall, I found the bag much too rigid, and it always felt like I was wearing a milk crate on my chest. As well, if you plan on using a harness, the rings to clip onto are mid-bag so you have to really get over on top of it to be able to clip onto the bag. Always a bit of a struggle. Can't speak for the other Porta-Brace products like the 1.5... haven't tried them, but the Petrol bag, on the other hand, seemed a bit more flexible and adaptive for me... orange interior, so easy to find all the bits floating around your bag. Like the clip-on transmitter holders on the sides - keeps your transmitters status visible at all times. Easier to clip the harness to. Cheers, Rich
  4. Hi John: Recording to the PDW700 Sony XDCAM. AES works great! Post loves having mics on separate channels. Cheers, Rich
  5. Happened today while shooting, and AES audio was still be passed from mixer to the camera. Rich
  6. This has happened to me quite a few times with the 552, always while using wireless timecode - NOT on auto-record setting, though. So far, whenever I've checked, the mixer still passes audio through to the camera, so the best solution has been waiting until a take or scene is finished and 'reboot' the mixer. Only takes a few seconds. Haven't been able to check for file corruption or whether audio is still passed on to camera while using AES output. R
  7. Love my new 552, too! I have been caught by a few of the same things mentioned previously, like the PFL (input that is PFL'd will have a lit presence indicator that is yellow, watch for that) and the Zoom meter function has caught me as well (look for the lit 'Zoom' LED by the meters). You usually know what you're looking at after it happens a few times! Having owned a 442 for year, I found the transition to the 552 was incredibly easy... having the recorder as a back up is great, and loving using the AES digital outs to camera. It's fantastic. The only feature I'd love to see, and apparently it's not doable in a firmware update, is to be able to set my record source separately from what I direct to AES A, i.e. be able to record L&R output as a back up and send a different assignment out to AES A & B... or I guess I could always use the 788T!
