  1. you can surf the heath-care benefits as long as you meet the minimum required employer contributions per quarter. that minimum may vary from local to local. If you fail to get “enough” union days, you will be booted out of their eligibility for health insurance benefits fund…eventually… and until you re-acquire that minimum. I have played the game a few times.
  2. One of the more common uses for CEDAR in the field is for live news, news magazine shows, or anything with a quick turnaround. I believe it is also common in the scripted world for better dailies, Director feeds, etc. I have experience with the DNS 2 and the cedar SDNX plugin. My workflow is generally recording unprocessed ISO tracks, and NR to a pair of mix tracks. Often a stereo mix to cameras for news work. In my experience, less is more when using NR. It is great for some things, but it is not a holy grail magic wand kind of thing. Although what it does do, it does it very well. It is straight forward and simple to use, in whatever version you decide to go with. -6 to -3db of NR is a good place to start. I hope that helps explain more real world usage from an end user perspective. I’ve never had any negative feedback from any CEDAR track I’ve delivered.
  3. I rented one a week ago and field tested it in a SL2. Using the SL2 antenna distro, it preformed as expected, which is to say pretty well. It was used in a major metropolitan area, in both D2 & NA hybrid modes. I did not do a direct comparison to any other lectro rx, but RF stability was good. I own the DCR822 and DSQD and the DSR4 performance was similar to those. To me, the DSR4 feels and operates like a mini DSQD. I like the option to make 2 pairs when you don't need more than a total of 2 rx, the 822 doesn’t do this. Freq scans are quicker as well. Hard buttons are and color screen are great. Prefer them over the 822. I did have an occasional odd boot up anomaly where the DSR4 would output a constant audio whine and do nothing else. A power cycle was the quick fix. There is enough to like about the unit and not much not to like. If you’ve got a handful of lectro transmitters you want to keep in the daily workflow it deserves a look. pictures show size comparison to other slot rx.
  4. Nice write up Michael. Curious your thoughts on how the A20 sounds as compared to “other” brands? I don’t believe you mentioned the sonic quality of the SD modulation. I had the opportunity to demo the A20 mini with an A20rx in a superslot a few weeks back. Comparing to lectro D2 wires, to my ear, the lectro had a slightly richer sound. On the flip side, the SD did a bit better in usable RF range being able to jump away from DTV into those higher bands. Keep the YouTube vids goin, I always take a peek and enjoy.

Ditto on the extra ZMT MHZ bands. Better yet, can we add some 900Mhz love too? I asked about a CL3 in 940 band a few years back but don't believe it ever made it past FCC approval, and perhaps not enough demand for it. I would argue adding it now would square the next generation ZMT quite nicely against the other multi-band options available on the market.
  6. For the record, I agree with Peter - he jumped in quick and it reads like a telemarketing rebuttal. I wasn't surprised to see it and I have belief the world continues to spin! Now back to this Useful Spectraband AND A20 details on it's guts.
  7. For normal talking heads, 6060 is the jam. For coaches/athletes on the field or loud environments, 6061 is the jam. I grab the 6060 most days.
  8. I believe it is a board upgrade. I just took delivery of a V2 that now has Vector Diversity mode with latest firmware. V1 originally had ratio diversity but no vector. I’m sure Karl or Larry can confirm.
  9. I have both. I didn’t have to “purchase” both. I also have used the DNS 2 frequently. I also work in the quick turn, deadline driven workflows. IMO there are very subtle differences between the cedar and SD plug-ins. The cedar has the better algorithm & offers slightly more clarity, especially when pushed stronger into more NR. To be fair the SD noise assist also does a good job cleaning up HVAC and genny rumble. In light use, you likely won’t notice too much difference between the two.
  10. Love that mini-stack design. Very slick. Would love to see the cable runs on the backside!
  11. What is the difference if any in DSQD V2 and V1? When did V2 drop onto market? Wondering if Brian ever got his HMa issue resolved ? The thread kind of went away from DSQD reviews for a sec
  12. Thanks for the details Karl. I was finally able to connect the DCR822 to WD using a Mac this morning. It turns out, not all micro USB cables work the same. I tried half a dozen different micro USB cables and had no luck connecting to the computer, but the last cable this morning actually worked. There must be a specific spec needed for the micro USB cable in order for the laptop to recognize as a USB device?
  13. They must’ve just released that update. Thank you Lectro! Will test out the new firmware tomorrow. I was able to get DSQD connected via Network again. It took a couple of connect requests, but it finally latched. Now I’m wondering if it’s possible to run a DSQD and a couple of 822s at the same time in WD?
  14. Reviving this thread. Any Updates on the DCR822 WD functionality? Here we are 6 months later.... I had a lot of difficulty yesterday connecting a DSQD to a Macbook Pro with the latest version of WD. The DCHP auto config network setting on the DSQD doesn't sync up with mac book IP address. I was able to get it working one time by manually setting the IP on the DSQD at home, but when I get to the studio and tried to pickup where I left off it would not connect again. I tried multiple network combinations on the DSQD and the Mac, no luck on set. Any tips for for quick connect via network? Macbook is using Thunderbolt>Ethernet adapter. Mac OS 10.15.7
  15. 822 is on par with 411 in NA Hybrid mode. Handles dropouts differently. 822 in D2 mode can present inconsistent results in my day to day. Audio output will get muddy or garble words frequently when RF becomes just a little unstable. Always playing with power output and location of belt pack for signal stability. Lack of usable spectrum in congested metro areas can make it difficult for solid D2 performance.
