  1. So would a lot of people, but we have the 633 instead
  2. Maybe not actually from Sound Devices.... Definitely 'shopped.
  3. The black dividers are from Trekpak http://trekpak.com/pelican-1510/
  4. Do you mean the mobility version? http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail/Case/1560M/
  5. Zero, its an analogue split. The signal will continue to pass through to the output even if this unit's battery dies.
  6. At this point, the OSIX and the Piano range are two separate products. The NEW OSIX (not displayed yet) will allow the cradle to swap between the Piano (basket/floating) and OSIX (normal) mounts.
  7. This is soon-to-be possible with the new OSIX range - the cradles will swap between Piano, Pianissimo, and the ('platform' that you speak of) OSIX. You would unscrew the cradle, remove the Pianissimo base, attach the OSIX base, then screw on the cradle and mic.
  8. To be fair, the 633 is kind of half-half. Analog input limiters on 1-3 (mic), digital input limiters on 1-6 (line and AES), digital output limiters.
  9. Spin the 'Lift' around so that it hangs from the rear bar of the bag rather than the divider.
  10. I'm still waiting for the bit where this makes it super easy to find the bit where Ellen is repeated...
  11. Not safe to assume. Try/test it. I get 4-4.5hrs on 2 Imedion (2450mAh NimH) at 50mW with the LA2.6
  12. The 7 series have differing Pre-amp technologies - the 744 (and 702/722) are very similar, but the 788T is a completely different design. The 442 and 552 have transformer-based preamps, the 664 has transformer-less pres (very similar to the 744T design), and the 633 is slightly different again. Finally, the equivalent input noise specs of the 633 are higher than that of the 744T and 788T, equal with those of the 552 and 664. You would have to compare them to see if they fit your needs. I can hear slightly more noise in my 633 than my 744 at mic level with both trims opened fully. The difference in the noise spec between the 744T and the 633 is 4dB. (-126dbu vs -130dbu) As for the 4 additional tracks, the 633 allows you to record the L and R mix buss, and gives you the option to record two Aux busses as well.
  13. Remember their short-lived advertising campaign - 'You can't have a Gaytime by yourself' ?
  14. Haha. Well done. That was the first thought I had, too.
  15. Wowzers, a 480GB drive gives you 11 whole minutes of record time.
  16. Neverclip in the TRX's now works more similarly to the Nomad version - there is no compressor (well, there's an optional one) - but instead of letting audio through into the internal mixer of Nomad over "0dB" (in a 24bit word), it switches to a preamp with a lower gain level. This means that normal talking, whispers, and shouting CAN all register around the same level on the TRX, as it changes preamp gain level.
  17. Thanks again, let the construction commence.
  18. Thanks Eric. Would it make any difference if those six sources came from separate sources, fed to a common one? Ie, 6 radio mic RX's into a D-sub into a fan-out to a mixer?
  19. Okay. In making a multi-connector cable, what are the pros and cons of sharing ground connections? For example, in a 5-pin XLR (say for an Alexa input), the two balanced connections share a common ground (pin 1). Is there a reason to separate the grounds when possible in a multi-core cable (say, 6 balanced channels into a single D-sub) or is it okay to tie them all together? Thanks for any input.
  20. Wrap the sound in a pillow, then re-record it. Or, more seriously, EQ. Take the freq that 'rings' out, and a general top end chop and you'll get a 'duller' sound.
