  1. Vin, sorry but I beg to differ, i found it very inspiring and informative.
  2. " 2001 a Space Odyssey " and " the Shinning " are my favorite Kubrik movies. Mike Nichols film adaptation of " Catch 22 " is one of the few DVDs I own. As far as know, it came out around the same time as " M.A.S.H. " did and it overshadowed " Catch 22 " , the latter being far more cerebral. " The Graduate " is my all time top of the list movie :-)
  3. " The Great Race " & " Rope " , gonna put 'em in my Netflix que. Thanks for the tip RVD & Crew.
  4. Ok, here's mine : Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World ", Favorite lines, everything Johnathan Winters said. And the " Wizard Of Oz " pretty much everything the Cowardly Lion said.
  5. In my experience, Sam Elliott, has been the nicest and most professional actor I've ever had the pleasure to work with. " We Were Soldier's " was the picture. He would always get to the set early in costume/makeup, completely ready to start the day and knew every crew member by name and say it when he said " Morn'in " to you, followed by a big grin.
  6. On the subject of grommets, they can have a tendency pull or tear out of the furny-pad after awhile. So I have been trying out these clip-on grommets. They work really well. I found them in the tarp dept/area at Lowes Home Improvement.
  7. I agree with you here BobD. My friends in Lancaster CA. have reminded me that most working class people out of the 30 mile radius of Los Angeles, couldn't give two s**ts about hollywood patting itself on its narcissistic, self-centered back. Having said that, I am ok with the film business's need of promotion, hype, advertisement, controversy, drama etc. Which these shows are really all about. So I think the changes are a good idea. And I hope that the up shot of of it will be, that more folks will go out to the movie theaters, buy DVD's, Boxed sets, action figures, merchandise, etc, I think you know where I am going with this...
  8. I don't know what SLM is ? If I did I might want one myself ! kks
  9. Ok. Thanks, Eric. John, very cool adaptor, i'll be ordering soon, Thanks KKS.
  10. When vocally slating a take, eg: 52e take 1 , is it ok to leave out the (word) take, and just say "Fifty two easy one" or eg: 88a take 1 "eighty eight apple one " or "two" "three" "four" 'Five" etc. This seems to only work well when there is a letter after the number. I was wondering if this is an acceptable practice and if others guys/gals are doing that way? KKS.
  11. John, How much does one cost in US Dollars ? and do you ship to the US? I could two of these. Thanks.
  12. " How to win Friends and Influence People " by Dale Carnegie ..... Getting cooperation with all or most of your cast & crew mate's .........Priceless !
  13. Hi Martijn Don't have time to wait for your site to appear......But, What ever you do, please don't use the word "soundy" or "soundies" ( even worse ) as collective name for production sound folks. "scripty" for script supervisor.......also a Major mistake ! "crafty" for craft service ? PLEASE ! ............ Never say or type these words. Thanks. KKS
  14. " Dialogue editing for Motion Pictures " by John purcell . Production sound people should get a good understanding of the post-production side of the proverbial coin and this book is pretty "in depth". www.focalpress.com
  15. All these "reality shows" remind me of the movie " They Shoot Horses, Don't they " A depression era story about dance marathon contestants, and is broadcasted via radio. Directed by Sidney Pollack (1969) with Jane Fonda, Michael Sarazin. This a an excellent film and parallels with what is happening in this era's economic downturn. Don't miss it if you are a movie buff. KKS
  16. Cloud; that is just the gap in the circlip ( circle clip ). Its whats holding the brains in the bucket. KKS
  17. Tony, Bernie ; I put together the mount using the one that came with a MKH 50 and shortened it up with an ever handy Dremel moto-tool. The mic clips come from an older rycote zep that fit a senn 416. The orange silicone o-rings are from an older rycote zep for an 816. Cloth covered mic cable ( used on Fisher booms ) available at Coffey or Location Sound. The right angle female XLR is a switchcraft says k-tek on the top. The male XLR is a Neutrik that I cut down to save space and weight. Filled/secured it with silicone seal. BobD; I think Robert spoke very well on my behalf, thanks RS. I sometimes use a Shure " doughnut "mount Glen Trew has mentioned somewhere here. But I do plan on on getting a rycote lyre mount eventually. KKS
  18. A short pig tail, about 15 in. long. Made from cloth covered cable, has been working very well for me, with some very inexperienced boom opps. Not rolling off much low end either.
  19. I'd agree BVS, older mike's and digital recording. Gives them a whole new life.
  20. The movie " Ray " was recorded with T powered 416's and it won an Academy Award for best sound. They are used on most all the films he an his crew work on. And they are always busy. I'm just say'in........
  21. I was looking for any Golliwogs ( pre-Credence Clearwater Revival ) clips and found this. CCR doing " Look'in out my back door " What The Fun ! enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNczeP33Yk0
  22. Crew, yes I have seen the " your gonna miss me " , as I have become a fan about 4 years ago when I bought a cd of theirs on a whim. 0ne of my favorite songs is " I've got levitation " & " Slip Inside This House ". There is a really good biography of the Elevators, called Eye Mind: the saga of the 13th Floor Elevators By Paul Drummond & Julian Cope. 7n7 is, Indeed!
  23. The 13th Floor Elevators. Their story would be one of the best rock & roll films ever made, IMO. One of my favorite bands of the psychedelic era, and considered the to be originators of the genre.
