  1. The NTG-3 is good, and theres a lot of deals out there to get them at a fair price with some extra goodies. also theres was a posting on a facebook page for a 416 for around 775. heres the post i saw, not alot of info Andy- "my friend just approached me with a used sennheiser 416 in great condition. if your interested FB him. his name is Graham Wiggins. $775 for it.... really good deal" http://www.facebook....ps/soundmixers/
  2. I plan to trying to stop by the chat next weekend. Looking forward to it.
  3. It does look like a prototype of the new small carts chinhda are making. Those are pretty rad minimalistic carts. I had seen this before but forgotten where.
  4. I know some of the newer perfectly square batteries like the energizer adv Lithiums have a hard time fitting in some devices. I used one of the Adv Lithuims in a lectrosonics transmitter and it was having trouble fitting inside because of the different shape, then when i went to replace it, the batteries was very difficult to remove.
  5. Thanks for the Info Senator! A little competition between the 3 exhibitors is a good thing. I look forward to this technology, and interested in how its used.
  6. I saw this product on the internet and i said to myself, Wow thats pretty neat. Thinking how we could use it for film production. I think lots of ways. Now I do not know the pricing on this, so it may be super expensive(more than likely) But its also something worth sharing. It comes(or will come) in a paint and spray on version. Rumors are the inventor coated his phone in it and left it under water. Now i dont know how thats possible most phones have an headphone jack of some sort, and if underwater i think would cause some damage to that let alone the power plug. but hey like i said the "rumor" Maybe Microphone companies will coat the metal housing of the mics to help repel water. or Cables that are coated in this to keep cleaner. Or spray the boom operators shoes so his feet dont get wet. I can see it now, the boom operators clothes are coated with this stuff during a rain scene, and every one notices how the boom operator is completely dry. Magic, Ha Or rant or rave if you must. http://www.neverwet.com/index.php http://gajitz.com/superhydrophobic-coating-will-keep-the-world-clean-dry/
  7. I keep a spare boom pole in my trunk of my car. Its my old faithful.
  8. Thats why i said Future, Not now, maybe years down the line who knows. Maybe never. Thought it would be an interesting concept to discuss, than the normal threads, what ____ i should buy, ect. I do think the easiest is billing l&d for those lost comteks. Carry on
  9. Yeah Phil, i dont think it was enough draw for them to push the redesign a little more and make it smaller. If more people wanted it then it may have been made but its a hard estimate. PSC had a lot of money already put into the digislate. They would have to sell a huge amount to keep the price point low. Since i wasn't sure if they were going to be made, i went ahead and bought one of the prototypes from Ron. Its a bit chubby but works flawlessly. Plus Ron is a great guy and owns a solid business. They repair and get your gear back in a reasonable always.
  10. Now before i post this link. I want to say. I know this isn't practical in our film world yet. But its interesting. So take a look. Its about the worlds smallest mic. http://gizmodo.com/5873008/worlds-smallest-mic-makes-wearing-a-wire-a-lot-safer
  11. I guess by lack of everything,That the owner of Loon was making those calls as a last effort to pull through. Nothing from the company. Great product, (lots of mistakes in there business, aka moving to Cal), Poor service. Id say the website should to closed, until further noticed. K-tek makes a great pole, Ambients are nice, PSC makes a great pole too.
  12. +1 on that too, Arri has made a professional camera that isn't about being "showy". I have worked on tons of Red shoots, and a few arri shoots. The arri shoots always go over a hundred times better for sound and camera than on red shoots.
  13. Thats a pretty sweet idea, That will allow you to keep an eye on them instead of how they normally fit in the bag. Thumbs Up.
  14. I have had the same desire of direct outs with a 302, except it cant be done with a "firmware update". Based on how its wired, and would be a major modification, that would cost a pretty penny and may be impossible to fit in the already cramp 302box. I think it would be cool to do what sonosax's m32 did with the 5pinXLR for both Left/right outs in one plug, then have a 7 pinXLR for pre/post direct outs then an optional output. (also could be 2 normal xlrs and a 7pinxlr, based on what you want) The sonosax M32 is a pretty sweet machine, (other than the price) the only thing its missing which the SD302 has is its menu system. That next gen 302 may be floating around out there someday, but SoundDevices may now be turning all there interest to create something that will go head to head with the nomad.
  15. This tree is my Mothers. This tree is well not really a tree. Its a branch of a tree, with lots of little branches to fill in the gap. The birds on the ladder are holding the ribbon thats hung around the tree. All natural decorations on it, Pine Cones, Silver Dollar seed pods, Red Berries off a tree. Something different.
  16. I have seen people use it as back up recorder on some EU carts
  17. Let me guess Glen, Coffey Sound? I think my personal purchase was, my Iatse membership. Onward to next year.
  18. I always look forward to reading these. Thanks for posting it on here.
  19. Right now in my life i only need two tracks. But if i needed to upgrade when the time comes im gonna consider it. Its pretty close to the price of a 788t. After looking at the sx-m32 id be down to swap my 302 for it. Unless a new 302 came out and does what the m32 does aka direct outs. Maybe down the line i'll drop some cash to get both the sx-R4 and sx-m32.
  20. Matt nice set up. i know a guy how uses a sx-r4 and he loves it. Pretty sweet machines. For the size, 8 tracks to Harddrive, two tracks to CF. plus four xlr inputs, one stereo line input then the 8 channel multipin aes input. Thats alot of different combination. Only if my wallet approved. *edited
  21. Im still thinking the rode ngt-3 is a solid starter mic. And you can find deals online where they give a discount on a blimp, or shock mount. That rycote S kit looks solid too, for the price. No doubt its lighter. I may have to look into getting one. I like how chads font for DEMO was the same style as finding nemo.... not sure why i noticed that. Hope this works out for you. and hope to hear what your final choices are.
  22. I use to belly pouch to hold my np1, and theres no issue, i may add so velcro to help secure it some more. Thought im not sure the belly pouch was intended to be a battery pouch. Hawk woods makes a 35w stubby np1. I think they are hard to find in the states. They would be a nice size for some of these lightweight bags, and would fit in that battery/belly pouch. You would need to keep a couple extra in your backpack just in case. Jon, since your in the UK wheres a good spot to order from to get a hawkwoods stubby?
  23. True that. I did that when i bought mine a while back. I didnt have the money and got the blimp for free back when that NGT3 Mic promotion was going on. After a while and some extra money i bought a a smaller shock mount. I think when one is starting out its best to look for flexible components to your gear. Also you can get the G3s with a ME2. To start with. But if you want the Trams go for it. Like Jaymz, i priced it up on bandh but left out the ngt3 mic, shock mount and wind kit. BandH - $2,838.75 Sound Devices MixPre-D Compact Field Mixer 2 Sennheiser EW112-p G3 Camera Mount Wireless Microphone System with ME2 Lavalier ... K-Tek KE-110CC Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole with Internal Coiled XLR ... Petrol PS607 Deca Mixer Bag Petrol PS605 Deca Heavy Duty Harness 2 Tram TR50 - Omnidirectional Lavalier Condenser Microphone (Gray) Preforance audio(Link in my last post) Rode NTG3 power bundle - 899 My total was around $3738. That gives you some extra money to buy cables. You should be looking to hit right under 4k.
