  1. I saw an example of this tech when it came to the Maglev train system. It's awesome!
  2. http://dvice.com/archives/2011/10/nuclear-powered.php If you thought plane noise was a problem now.
  3. Thanks for posting your concerns Steve! A lot of us noobs share it. I for one have been looking into this kinda thing after realizing my mighty castle was actually made of sand. Hope everyone's replies have been more than helpful. They have been to me.
  4. Fergee the new bag and harness are working great!!!! It made my life so much easier on the 48 hour festival shoot I did this weekend! And out was great seeing you and Kev Jesse! That day was pretty nice compared to the norm.
  5. Your not alone. I always enjoy what Senator has to say. Fun guy in person too!
  6. I just got back from Coffey and I am starring at a small crew in a park as I wait for my bus. Also, think it's illegal to impersonate a sound mixer for a moment? I can pull it off...(not serious)
  7. Ha!, not to sure if I'm the same, but similar.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIrJ4oJI1qs&NR=1 This is one of many BEAUTIFUL tracks from an anime series The Big O, fantastic story! I reccomend playing this to the sound of rain; Rainymood.com
  9. Thought I grabbed the wrong one, Poo doo. Thanks guys! Just gives me another excuse to visit Coffey. Love that place!
  10. Good morning/afternoon and or evening! I recently purchased an SD Lemo to XLR Male and Female Time Code cable and I am wondering if I grabbed the wrong one for the wrong purpose. I usually work with the RED Epic, because everyone and their grandma loves that camera at my school, so I would like to know if I could use the XL-LX with my 744T to that camera as well as what other cameras it can work with because I shoot with more than just the RED. Can it work with a 5/7D as well? Thanks for the replys.
  11. Fergee, if you ever need a Boom Op I raise my hand sky high! Thanks for the feedback everyone, I guess ill give versa-flex a shot later in the future, but for now I well go with the Petrol Ps605 HEAVY DUTY HARNESSSSSSSS, I couldn't resist the deal. My school's mixer bag isn't as cool as the ps607.
  12. So that was you who got the last one!? I have to order mine now and those wireless kit pouches are an awesome idea!
  13. Awesome!, Thanks for the replies...and yes i have looked at Versa-flex but I'm not sure if it will work with my future plans/package. I'll give it another look though.
  14. Hey guys! I really want to purchase an audio harness to better my agility, but I am debating whether to get the Portabrace AH-3H, or the Petrol ps605 Heavy Duty. What are the pros and cons of the two? So far I am really leaning towards Petrol because of the cost and attachments. Thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  15. I'm with Rich on that one 100%I tell everyone Have a good breakfast! Bagels does not count, that's just bread! But in regards to the sealed packaging, that's just a little lame, less plastic bottles trades for more plastic wrappers, but we shall see what becomes of this. I it gets so amazingly frustrating then I'll just have to start bringing my G.I. Joe lunch box.
  16. It's been roughly a year+ since I have really invested in Production sound, two years since the start of school and I have yet to, or at least know of, the projects I've worked on need ADR. (yes chances have it the students don't have the time or resources to do a proper ADR session) Still I wonder, how you guys feel about a project you worked on needing ADR?
  17. Right, forgot to mention that, I usually ask about what camera will be used. I do wish people would consider Sound for the tech scouts though...shame. Thanks for the advice and the link Johnpaul!
  18. I will always prefer OVer Ears for Two and a half reasons: 1) They work well as ear warmers. 2) Great for listening because it puts the sound/music into your ear and not on them. I do use in-ears when i'm using more than one head set (ask why later) because the boom can be a little soft at times so putting the feed "onto your ear"could be a good option. Bottom line: I like over ears. Hope you enjoy your trip!
  19. Thanks Ethan, that really means a lot to me! Definitely appreciate the list, Book or Hold didn't even occur to me. hat will surely come in handy.
  20. Senator I'd LOVE to visit your class! Unfortunately I have class that day, but I'll see if I can work something out.
  21. A very good article, but I for one am very glad I am going to Brooks because I don't know what I'd be doing if they didn't call me and I didn't enroll. Like he said, or better yet suggested, is that college doesn't work for everyone and yes some can learn their own craft on their own research. I'm actually doing a lot of that now since my school doesn't provide the best Sound education, but had it not been for that foundation I would most likely be in community college (Grade 13) because like the man said "We think of college as a stepping-stone to success rather than a means to gain knowledge."
  22. Alright, number One: and there is another point, we wouldn't pay for the equipment you provide. since the equipment you bring is only operated by you, so if there is some trouble of them, we have no obligation for the compensation. i think it's reasonable, right?- What!? No your doing it all wrong! (Whatever his name is) and Two p.s. Oh, and too all of those mixers out there taking those 100/day gigs.. F-you too. Your not only screwing yourselves, but the Biz too- Will always keep this in mind. Sorry for the bad experience though. People will learn that nothings free sooner or later. So I hope any-whome-and-how.
  23. Hey guys, I was wondering what question's do you ask production and what questions do they usually ask you before you start a gig? Not too many people, if any, at my school ask me anything when Sound wise so I usually as: Who's the DP, Art, and Wardrobe so to ask: What kind of lights are you using, How is the set dressed (for the sake of planting), is it cement, hardwood, or carpet floors, at times I may ask the room space and wall material, what are the main actors wearing, the shoes the shirt, does the female have long hair, and from a recent experience WILL THERE BE WATER? What am I missing? I appreciate the advise you've all given me in the past and will certainly very much appreciate it in the future!
  24. Oh you marvel now but this will soon be our competition. Hold for plant! Still AWESOME though!
