  1. Just to add: I measured both PS-1 and PS-1A outputs and it can output as much as 25V for a couple of seconds. Fitting an output transformer is ABSOLUTELY necessary! And i did just that inserted Neutrik NTE-1, thanks to mr Paterson here, ouput is 0v. All good
  2. I asked the manufacturer and they wrote: "The PS-1A and PS-2 output a quick voltage spike when the battery is first inserted into the unit. Once it is on, there is no DC at the output. If you are concerned about damaging your Tx, you will have to remember to power on the power supply prior to connecting it to your Tx. "
  3. Looking for a splitter solution myself. Now, I have a two double Sony DWX (so also digital) receivers, and i am wondering if it's better to use 2 way ZFSC 2-2+ passive splitter from Mini Circuits with about ~3.5 dB loss, or future proof myself and go for the 4 way ZFSC-4-1-BNC+ already (about 7dB loss) Larry, am I right that the loss in these expensive active and passive splitters is just a fact of life, and all they do later is gain up what is left? Sorry If this is obvious, but it's good to reassure the basics sometimes. Also, the digital systems are not as sensitive to the signal loss as long as there is sufficient distance from noise? So the digital receivers do not have to 'see' as much signal as the analog ones to work alright? Thank you so much for your knowledge and time folks, I learned so much on this forum. Hope the Senator is fine also....
  4. $2700? That is more expensive than AATON Cantarem 2, which has 12 faders.... A lot And i bet it works only with Nomad 12...

    headphones!

Do you plug them straight into recorder? Which one is that? I read they're 150 Ohms.
  6. Is this compatible with Nomad 10? What is the ~price?
  7. I monitor my output busses with the Nomad. They have output compressors engaged all the time. Sometimes somebody wants to make a 'joke' and scream into my boom. I tell them they have no chance
  8. Do you have the DWA-01D adapter? I'm not sure the Receiver outputs analogue signal without it. The output pin assignments are in the DWA-01D adapter manual.
  9. Thank you guys. The microphone works without problems with the Sony DWX system.
  10. There are biological effects from non ionizing radiation. It is not advised to have any device emitting 2.4 gHz or 5 ghz, and most any other (especially digitally modulated with square and other digitally generated modulation schemes ) microwave frequency near your body. Some people are more prone to it, some are less. Anyhow, the effects have been known for years now. French government banned Wi-Fi devices in nursery schools in 2015, and added a lot of extra requirements and warnings concerning use of such devices near children. There are scientists, among them Olle Johansson from Karolinska Institute, Magda Havas, and many others that have been studying the effects of the microwaves on human wellbeing. I for one suffered from severe headache once from Teradek video village that spew rf thru a bad cable - and my boom op had the same symptoms, we talked about it afterwards. Tingling is also a known skin sensation to me, when the rf signal is stronger, it can be a burning sensation. You can believe me or not, i do not care - i was once able to detect wifi router presence when they first started to appear. Caution and good reason is advised. There are protective (shielding) fabrics, and since we as soundies know the RF propagation and how antennae work, can use the technology responsibly. The less RF, the better. Sometimes i get worried about camera operators having the 5 ghz Teradek router near their head for 12 hours a day. There are solutions that help a lot, thought - shieldheadwear.com for example.
  11. The best you can get for that project would be Sonosax in my opinion. M2D2 being the smallest and cheapest you can get.
  12. Hello! I have a "legacy" DPA 4060, serial number H78221 does anyone have an idea of it's compatibility concerning RF immunity to digital tranceivers like Zaxcom, Sony DWX, can it be used without digital rf noise getting into the capsule? Thanks
  13. i wonder if it would be possible to add a battery pack thru usb charging port if somebody would need a really loooong day of shooting (maybe someplace really remote). Could work.
  14. looks like the KMC9BPD-4P(71) is discontinued Anyone knows if this is the correct replacement? https://www.digikey.pl/products/pl?keywords=KMC9BPD-4P(31) EDIT: I have this now https://www.mouser.com/PCN/Hirose_Electric_430_18008.pdf and in the row #74 the replacement for KMC9BPD-4P(71) is KMC9BPD-4P(31) Hirose_Electric_430_18008.pdf
  15. There are threads here that explain how Neverclip(tm) works, and in a nutshell it uses two a/d converters to extend the possible dynamic range of an analogue input of the recorder. Now, this only works if it is set up properly (no input compressors, compressors on card tracks and/or output busses, activated ISO ATTENUATION) Note that it only extends the ad dynamic range of an analog input so it is not responsible for distortion that comes before that input - eg., from a wireless transmitter (most likely), or wireless receiver. Are the radios recorded to analog ins or digital ins of the Zaxcom recorder? Too many variables to tell. Contact the mixer, let him explain. Do workflow tests together if he's unsure. Yeah a bit too late for that, but at least you'll learn something for the next shoot. And please, do not bother Zaxcom with stuff that is available in the manual and on this very forum (and youtube, Glenn Sanders and others talked about ways of using neverclip for many years now) Be well. Bartosz
  16. Active antennae need power. They will not work without it. They are a different design. https://www.rfwireless-world.com/Terminology/Active-Antenna-vs-Passive-Antenna.html
  17. This is a great idea. You should get in touch with Sound Devices!
  18. Well, Rado will answer all of these questions. He has one already
  19. The preferred pro workflow is giving the MIX tracks (with TC) to the editors. The mix track can be louder, limited and compressed to help them hear the details. Edit can be then AAF - exported to Pro Tools, and using Field Recorder Workflow, mix tracks get replaced with proper ISO 32bit (in this case) files, which can be mixed and gain staged to taste.... Well, I am glad that i waited to see this. Using Nomad with nc, i can appreciate not worrying about the gain stage that much... Are the pre-amps the same? What is the consensus about the pres? Wondering if I should go to my old 442 for my sfx and ambience recording.
  20. Remember to reset to factory settings when changing firmware, as i know from experience that not doing that w/Nomad can cause all sorts of buggy behavior. Also, do not restore settings from Nomad memory presets or cards saved with earlier version of the firmware. Always rebuild your setup with new firmware.
  21. TwistedWave for Mac can do batch resampling very well, and is also a very capable editor. There is also an online version.
  22. Blackmagic Ursa mini pro 4.6 Aes inputs work just fine with Zaxcom Nomad. The only Zaxcom thing is, Nomad AES outputs are inverted in polarity when compared to analog outputs and card tracks. Howard Stark said it's a hardware limitation. You can invert any signal(individually) that gets routed to Output busses, except automix - then everything that goes thru out buses gets inverted, naturally so, if you're recording your outputs as a mix track, that gets inverted too. You cannot invert polarity of the output sum at the card track matrix.
  23. Mine did that some year in the spring when i was working in humid environment. Just take it apart and clean it.
  24. I see. Sorry for being harsh. But it seems like, it will have to go to some service...
  25. Agree! This is why i have no pleasure browsing facebook “pro audio” groups most of the time. So many entitled, ignorant attitudes , they didn’t even care to read the manual, etc... Senator Mike was vocal on that issues, and he along with some other guys here brought this forum to the level of expertise we all enjoy, and should cultivate.
