  1. I have found that if I'm not signed in, the buy and sell section is invisible.
  2. Memorable quotes from Bacall: http://parade.condenast.com/327160/linzlowe/15-memorable-lauren-bacall-quotes-stardom-isnt-a-profession-its-an-accident/ One not in that list: ''We live in mediocre times''. Beauty and brains.
  3. Two years ago I set my radio mouse atop my MacBook Pro overnight. Next morning I discovered the new Duracell AA (Coppertop) inside had cut loose with a significant amount of acid, etching a big scar in the aluminum.
  4. No experience with them. Can't make the date. FILTER is going to be in New Orleans next week for a content shoot with an artist performing at Voodoo. We are looking for an on site sound guy for the shoot on 11.3 - documentary style/day in the life at the festival. monique.gilbert@filtercreativegroup.com FILTERCreativeGroup.com

  6. A discussion from before PSS opened in N.O.
  7. I can't get there. Two 5d's and one 7d. Three radios, boom, double system. Rate to be negotiated. That's all I know. PM me your # and I'll pass it along. Scott

  9. A place to set the bag down. Components all Velcroed together. Scott
  10. Sounds logical. I'll get set and hit the slate in front of my 5D, get it into FCP and see.
  11. I'm already following your advice to another HD-p2 user: troubleshooting 101 which "it" ?? the TC source, or the HD-P2..?? is the camcorder it actually sending SMPTE TC ?? Is the HD-P2 actually receiving it ?? is it even expecting it ?? tried any alternate devices?? come on... read your posts... it reads like you are just sitting there, expecting it to all work "Plug'n Play"...troubleshoot, and keep trying... I'll get there. The fact that the unit isn't actually made by Tascam complicates things a bit when looking for 'official' info. Presently I'm here: Settings: 48K 24b ST LTC Timecode: 23.976 FW 10F Auto Green timecode light is solid, unplug the SB2a it blinks. (started sb2a cold without setting time, HD-p2 display matches it excluding frame rate which lags 3-4 frames when I snap a picture of it) SB2a is set to position 4 #23 shows when you close the slate.
  12. John Blankenship is a sage. This worked. Thank you. Tascam HD-P2 is an enigma I'm still puzzling. It lags a few frames behind the Comtek fed slate.
  13. Don't miss the streetcar up St. Charles. I like that uptown direction better than the french quarter. Be careful after dark, if you go off the beaten path. Scott
  14. I'll try this. Will have to order some switchcraft connectors I can work on. Markertek sent me a cheap molded plastic Y splitter when their catalog pic showed a splitter with switchcraft like components.
  15. Ever reluctant to pry my wallet open, I wonder if I could add a Denecke ST-1 stripper/reshaper to get this to drive two inputs?
  16. Couldn't ask for a better response, many thanks. It is old, but has been in recently for service. I'll just leave it on the slate where it belongs, and works like it should. Scott
  17. I'm sure I'm missing something simple here, but stumped is stumped. I've got this SB-2a I'd like to keep in the bag to feed my Tascam HD-P2. I'd hoped to plug a Comtek TX in as well, to send timecode to the TS-1 slate I took the generator off of in the first place. I've tried a couple mono 1/8'' Y cables but code will only go through one branch (either branch) of the Y cable at a time. Plug the cables into an MP3 player or a Comtek RX, and I get sound out of two sets of headphones. Would a splitter like the one pictured work? I'm guessing timecode is so smart it knows how to twist my arm to buy an additional SB-3. Scott

  20. Strain relief or even coiled cable would be a plus. The audio input jack on the 5D isn't the most durable.
  21. Regarding TAFTP, I paid my $125 to join before reading the comments here. My listing was up about a week before the site disappeared altogether..
  22. I saved the acoustic foam lining from a SM58 windscreen that had been dented. I put it over my thumb, took the brass barrel of a COS-11 and pressed it into it and twisted. (careful, the barrel is sharp) There you have a perfect sized button. Three toothpick dabs of silicone carefully applied under your magnifier, let dry overnight. Just let a bit of the button protrude from the barrel. That's less to catch any tape in the future.
  23. Sometime back I traded Eric Toline for an 012. I checked out 'The Mod Kit' for DIY'ers available online. I opened up the mic and every component was already in there. Eric did not mention if this was a 'modded' mic. I've also read Oktava incorporated the 'mods' into production some time ago. I believe an assembly quality assurance screen such as The Sound Room provides, is all that is necessary. Or, buy it from any big retailer and simply return it if there are problems. It's of course not put together like an expensive German mic. But it's construction is astonishingly simple, and adequate for the price.
