  1. I'm looking at getting one of these - adjustable 1.34m to 2.5m http://www.coffeysound.com/PSC-Boompole-Case.html
  2. ...and macrecorder and chris_bollard. Although I appreciated everyone's input, thanks.
  3. Thanks Nate. What are you using to clean them? Shocking thing is, my cans don't see any rough and tumble, neither did my previopus pair of 25's, they are really well looked after. So I'm not sure what Sennheiser's excuse could be here. Never disconnected mine. Thanks. Will try this if cleaning doesn't help. Thanks Mike. Do you have a name for that stuff Lectro uses, or any info on it?
  4. Bit of a necrojack but just HAD to say , AWESOME site! Great vids too. The award for most creative promotion goes to Martijn
  5. In in the "What to look for in headphones?" thread, imagist notes the same problem I am having with the HD 25 II, and the same that Simon B experienced with HD250 II. -The point of connection between the cable and earcup becoming intermittent- As well as the seemingly random loses of signal, it is also guaranteed to lose signal when a loud transient is received (eg a clapper board, a shout). I feed my cans lower volume than anyone I know. It is always the left earcup and it is fixed by applying small pressure to the connector in a forwards direction. I otherwise love my HD25s and was ready to buy a spare pair when this started some moths back. Imagist mentioned that tinning the connectors seemed to give another couple months before intermittent behaviour, but I would love to find a more permanent solution. Has anyone found anything to help? Thanks
  6. Hmmm, manual you say... Had a look on Zax site but no PDF version yet. Strange. Very much looking forward to that!
  7. Can the USB recording option allow recording to a USB stick, or does it need to be a hard drive? I don't know why they would be different but I believe I read a comment to this effect in an earlier thread.
  8. Max, if you decide to go Oktava, I would advise getting a foamie like that in Rick R's photo. Maybe someone here could suggest a good foamie for the 012? I use BBG - it works but it's a hassle compared to a foamie.
  9. Is it just me or did the 4 track version go from $3300 to $3600? Still a good price. Just mentioning.
  10. Thanks Jason. One more question: For upgrading from 6 to 8, will I need to send to Zaxcom, or to place of purchase, or just any Zaxcom dealer?
  11. So with a Nomad 6, I can record 6 iso tracks and output a scratch mix via the XLR outs - is that correct?
  12. Exactly, Nomad allows for mirroring, therefore the same (rare) ocurrance would have to happen to both primary and mirror simultaneously, which seems unlikely. Also, I'm not entirely ruling out the possibility of the 552 being part of the problem.
  13. I had the same experience 3 days ago with 552 and MFC 16GB SDHC card. [Edit: Class 10] The card was purchased recently and used only twice before, formatted after each time, the last formating being an hour before I started rolling. First take recorded fine. Sometime after that I started to get error bleeps and the Record light stayed on when not recording. I still believed everything was going 'to tape', considering previous problems I had experienced with that LED freezing. I vaguely remember hearing "next, 7" from SVEN, at some stage along the way when pressing stop. I went on to record probably 10-15 takes, before trying to playback and being unable to do so. I called off the session at that point as I knew something was wrong, and went to check the SD card in a computer but no computer/reader combination would see it. A friend ran it through PhotoRec under Linux Mint and recovered 14 files. The 1st recovered file was the first recording of the day. The 2nd recovered file was the initial 20 seconds of the 2nd recording of the day (which should have been much longer). The other files were from the previous 2 sessions ie some from before the last formating and some from 2 formatings ago. Turns out I will be buying a Nomad after all.
  14. Thanks Matthias, looks like it's out of my budget for the moment in that case.
  15. Hi All, I am currently being tempted by a second hand 744T as an upgrade to my 552. I would need to see the 552 to generate the necessary cash. My question is, how easy is it to mix on those small pots I see on the 744T ? And also, why do I only see 2 pots? How is gain/trim for channels 3&4 controlled? Many thanks, B
