  1. Would love to know some more details on this. Like was the inout originally a power+video on one connector? if so, what was the connector and as there much involved in mod-ing the case to mount a hirose to the PCB?
  2. I notice people are assuming a 2 stand set up for 2 mics. I would go with 2 small magic arms on a single boom arm of a c-Stand. As a side note - for light mics I'm thinking to repurpose something like this (skip to (0:34) The gooseneck isn't very versatile but I'm sure a better option can be found/made. Would make for super quick rigging and adjustment
  3. Hi Johnny, I like some of the transitions you've used. You're using what you've got ad that's brilliant! I did stop watching after about 6 mins coz the longer cat sequence around that point wasn't holding my interest enough. I also like that you tried some things to create a pretty soundscape, rather than just leave it as it arrived at the iPod Touch mic. Well done on that effort, and on the creativity. ps There is a mute button in the settings of this forum for avoiding unnecessary negativity from individuals of your choice.
  4. Looks great Pablo. Nice and neat, no extra material flopping around. I have so many questions What is the purpose of the velcro flap and access hole in the centre of the body-side? Also it looks like the velcro covers the whole flap (and body-side of the man in compartment) - any reason you went with so much velcro rather than a strip/tab at corners / sides? The NP pouch and accessory pouch seem detachable, how are they attached? The pouch/flap behind the accessory pouch, looks slate-sized, or are you using it for something else?
  5. With old G2s i set TX to -30 (because traditionally one of them was broken and stuck at -30) I then feed it a -20dB tone from the 'headphone 2' output on my Nomad and adjust HP2 volume until the 3rd bar of signal appears on the AF meter on G2 Tx. If you do this you will find that sending a 0dB tone will not clip the TX.
  6. http://www.locationsound.com/psc-fbpmcc-elite-boom-pole-w-coiled-cable,-8.3-ft.-max.-length-91 I am looking into a 2nd hand one with the internal coiled cable. I would be purchasing it for doco as I have Panamic poles for drama. I would be replacing the end cap with the side exit cap. These aren't available here to demo so I would love to hear your experiences. many Thanks
  7. Jose, I would be very interested to hear your results as I am about to make the move to Zaxcom radios. If you end up starting a different thread for that perhaps you could give a nod to it in here?
  8. Is the mic/line switch in the setup software or somewhere on the box I'm not seeing? Can I chose in the software which pin of the 3.5mm delivers TC and which delivers audio? Would love to see screenshots of the setup software (not the sync software).
  9. nice BNCs. Looks like a side entry hole with a grommet or something? Could you describe what you're doing there?
  10. So my main concern is what kind of range people are getting with QRX 235 whips and TXs at 50mW. How long is a piece of string, I know. Say for bag work, are people getting dropouts and turning up the TX power?
  11. Yea, not sure I'd need wideband on the QRX as I will only be running 2 transmitters. Any other reason I'd need wideband? I will be integrating this with Nomad 12. I have 2 borrowed ERXs but will be getting some ERXs soon. I want to have one ERX on cam receiving scratch audio and TC and two more ERXs for director and script Nomad can potentially do this, but I am currently looking into solutions to improve the performance of Nomad's aerial. Generally I will use disposable Lithium AAs.
  12. I'm looking to upgrade to a pair of Zax radios and a receiver for bag work. I am mainly curious about the difference in range and power efficiency between the LA2/LT2. I'm wondering: 1) Is the LT2 available at 125 mW? perhaps via special order / mod? 2) How is range with 50mW using whip antennae on the QRX235? (I'm working from a bag) 3) Does the LT2 run twice as long as LA2 assuming same power setting etc? 4) Or like 2/3 of a day instead of half a day? 5) Is there any advantage to the QRX200 over the QRX235? (I remember Rado looking to swap his 235 for a 200 but don't remember why) No Zax dealer in my country so any advice/experience is much appreciated.
  13. Thanks Eric. My problem however isn't with the low profile end, just the straight female end. As I still have a decent amount of cable I got for free I would love to find a suitable XLR boot. Perhaps there isn't one for such thin cable, but if anyone knows of one worth trying I'd love to hear.
  14. First attempt at low profile XLR. Had problems with the female boot. Was a last minute thing so I was using what parts i had. Cable: I used lab cable given to me by a friend. Not sure what cable it is but roughly the thickness of Cos11 cable. Male end: I drilled a cable hole as I felt that would be more secure than the notch method. Connector cap is a filling of sugru (half pack per connector) which also keeps everything in place. Female end (straight): Main problem here was the boot. Although the hole is tiny, the boot itself was very flexible, making strain relief difficult. Strain relief (female): I put as much heat shrink on as possible, then rescue tape around that. This gave purchase for a cable tie. I lined up the cable tie against the inside of the boot's exit and trimmed the cable tie. Despite the strain relief structure being much larger than the hole, the boot is so flexible that it can just pull right through. So I wrapped the outer section of cable with rescue tape, finishing by wrapping the bottom of the boot itself. It is still a fragile arrangement. Can anyone recommend a harder boot for thin cable, or a better strain relief method?
  15. Unfortunately, as I live in Dublin, my closest usual suspect is a plane ride and 553km away.
  16. I have been sent the micro SD with the software. I'm sure there must be a button to hold while powering up with micro SD in slot or something but I'd rather know for sure than experiment on something so important. Thanks,
  17. @Rado, this was a question I had while spec'ing gear for a friend. Thanks all the same. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I thought a bluetooth keyboard would work if it uses a usb dongle bluetooth receiver, or am i wrong?
  19. Thanks for that. Also, I found that keyboard i posted the pic of - discovered the name which made things easier. http://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?_odkw=dream+gear+ps+2&_osacat=0&_from=R40&LH_PrefLoc=2&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=dreamgear+minikey&_sacat=0 I've bought one of those. I may go for this in the future if the cable on the Dreamgear annoys me http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-BLUETOOTH-Keyboard-for-Cell-Smart-Phone-PDA-iphone-Nokia-N97-iPhone-4-0-OS-/220900933416?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item336eb8bf28
  20. Thanks Are you using Nomad's IFB antenna? If so I'd be curious if you have found clashes with the 2.4 antenna at any particular frequencies
  21. here is a nice one i found (haven't found it for sale yet tho) http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mp3car.com%2Fvbulletin%2Fattachments%2Fclassified-archive%2F14353d1116538271-fs-super-mini-usb-keyboard-minikey9jh.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mp3car.com%2Fvbulletin%2Fclassified-archive%2F50417-fs-super-mini-usb-keyboard.html&h=384&w=512&tbnid=bg_1SQ9gRBjRPM%3A&zoom=1&docid=jnWNxvvSKcnQqM&ei=iCf-U_3pBLPA7Ab6iYCoBg&tbm=isch&client=safari&ved=0CEEQMygUMBQ&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=1575&page=2&start=19&ndsp=25
  22. Would love to see some of the keyboards some of you are using for Nomad And/or feel free to point me to a previously existing thread on this coz the search function is not turning it up. Thanks
  23. I have been in 6.2 for some time and had installed and done factory ear tag the time. Both primary and mirror were freshly formatted. But today I got this B Error consistently. Any idea what I should do to get rid of it?
