  1. True pioneer right here. Thanks for this and for the insight on shooting Les Mis.
  2. I don't think you read my question correctly. Essentially, what's so amazing about those P&G faders? How will they affect the quality of my mixes?
  3. So if I get the cheaper CL-12 option, what exactly will I be missing in my non-P&G faders?
  4. +1 It's extremely busy and we need all the skilled people we can get. Not just booms, but utilities as well.
  5. I haven't seen the Duo Pack yet, but I'm wondering if its size allows it to be used at the same time as the dashboard when mounted on the 664.
  6. Just want to say thanks to Sound Devices for listening to us. This is something we wanted since the 664 came out and something I'll definitely add to my inventory.
  7. Without reading everyone else's responses, I'd say locations kills house AC, set dressing kills the AC blocks they bring. Production coordinates. Does this always work? Ha!
  8. That makes sense. I think when they made the cable, the cable itself was too small and hence no effective strain relief. Thanks for the insight. While I try to fix this cable, anyone know if the Remote Audio TRRS cable is able to jam a sync box the way my 1/8" TS cable can? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/751715-REG/Remote_Audio_CATCIPL_5_pin_Lemo_to_1_8.html
  9. Thanks so much Eric! Really really appreciate it.
  10. Hey guys, I'm pretty good at sound, but not so much at soldering. I have a 5 pin lemo to 1/8" TS (TC OUT) cable I got custom made from one of the usual suspects and I was shocked to find that the only thing keeping the cable from coming apart was the solder itself with no strain relief. Is this normal for a Lemo connector? Needless to say it's in 2 pieces now. To make matters worse, I tried to fix it myself and all the pins are now more or less wired together, solder everywhere. So #1) What's the best way to remove the unwanted solder so I can start over? I've watched videos about solder wick (copper braid) and solder suction devices but can't find them in my local hardware stores. #2) Which pin does the tip get wired to and which does the shield go to? And how are the pin #'s designated? (TC flows into the lemo and out of the 1/8" side) #3) Will this TRRS cable for iDevices work from a recorder to a sync box? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/751715-REG/Remote_Audio_CATCIPL_5_pin_Lemo_to_1_8.html Thanks so much for the help as always. -Ben
  11. For real? Where'd this info originate? And speaking of, when does the Zax patent expire?
  12. For real? Wonder if it can be rolled/cut via SuperSlot. Same with metadata
  13. Yeah it's weird. I work in NYC and use 100mW as a minimum. Kind of surprised.
  14. Going with this, how about variations in the focal plane? Should they shoot plates for each focal point and a clean plate slowly panning through different positions?
  15. I love these AKGs. I use the 93 and on a rare occasion, the 91, mostly as plants or in car rigs. I think they are an amazing value. I call them the poor-man's schoeps. And they're less susceptible to handling noise than the MK41. One thing to watch out for if you're using it on the pole with the swivel joint is that the weight of the joint might cause it to loosen on its bayonet mount, and you wouldn't want it to fall off and hit somebody.
  16. Nice cart! What kind of drawers are those?
  17. Hey guys, great suggestions. AFMY & Jason - It's happened in various locations...I'll try re-freqing. I'm currently on channel 60 in NY, which I know is somewhat popular, as is 44. RPSharman - Great idea! Will do. Brent - Yes. 3 Video Transmitters at least, but I don't think they're Teradeks. Nothing I can do about that unfortunately. Thanks for the help guys.
  18. Hello, A slight concern about these comteks, I'm hoping there's an easy answer. Upon powering down my cart, including either my base station or M-216 transmitter, any Comteks still on emit very loud, sustained white noise (pilot tone?). Has anyone else experienced this? I've blasted the crew once or twice now with this horrific noise and was surprised that this was the case. Otherwise, the comteks work great. Thanks, Ben
  19. I am so profoundly disappointed. They knew we wanted a cl-12 for the 664. This was their chance. I guess I'm pulling the trigger on that Solice Mini as my front end.
  20. Me for sure. And a side question, is it safe to assume the SL-6 is completely incompatible with the 664?
  21. I hope you're right because I really want to want this machine but without linear controls, it would be too redundant for me because I have my 664. If there is something else they're waiting to announce I hope they do it soon because I'm about to pull the trigger on an analog mixer.
