  1. I misread the title and thought it was an app for audio cable WRAPPING lol
  2. I wonder if this in-rush current issue will present itself with the 664? And since it looks like the batteries are the issue and not the BDS, I assume the problem would persist with the OPs setup even if he used PSC BDS system instead?
  3. Jeff, thank you so much for your reply. So now I see that this is not a 664 specific issue as it pertains to all analog mixers, and that it can only be remedied with a recorder able to delay the signal on its inputs. I find this a strange complaint about the 664 as so many people have labeled a "mixer that records" but I guess this arises out of comparisons to the Nomad as seen in this thread.
  4. Thanks Jeff, Justin and John!
  5. I apologize if this has already been asked and I have read the manual and (as I expected) saw no word of this, but does anyone know if there are any plans for an external linear fader control panel which could connect via USB or where the CL6 plugs in, or if this is even possible?
  6. Try to dig them out of you can. I'm working with a mixer right now who doesn't mind the perspective change which occurs when they look down and the boom can't follow them. Also try booming from below if possible.
  7. Well they generally try to keep as many people out as they can, but camera always gets a free pass.
  8. I'm booming a feature where, for each scene, the director does a private rehearsal on set with the talent, which I think is a really good idea. The problem is that these rehearsals always include the DP and almost always the cam op and sometimes even people from other departments, but sound is never allowed to see them. These private rehearsals can end up including up to 5-10 crew members (though it is usually just camera dept). Granted, we do get an official blocking after the fact, but I feel like this exclusion of sound is unnecessary and that it would only be beneficial to have a sound representative on set whenever there is a camera rep. As the boom op, the more times I see the scene, and the earlier I see it, the more prepared I will be for any potential issues that may arise. Has this been the same experience for anyone else, and do you agree/disagree?
  9. I'm torn...first about getting a 664 or a used 788 (heavily leaving towards 664) but then to sell my 744, 552, both or neither?
  10. Off topic but what would give you overall better performance (taking into account range, mW, diversity, etc.) a G3 Tx with a G2 Rx, or a G2 Tx with a G3 Rx?
  11. With the CL6, when using the direct outs as inputs, can they provide phantom power?
  12. +1 I used my 552 as my sole and primary recorder for over 2 years and never lost a file, using Class 4 Sandisk Cards
  13. Today, shooting at a restaurant as it's being built, with open walls facing 9th Ave in NYC. Too loud to hear yourself think. Me: What are we doing about all this noise? Producer: What? Later that day, me being snarky at a different location with construction outside: Producer: The noise outside...? Me: Nothing I can do about that.
  14. Have these TC problems been fixed? I can't believe this. I was planning on using my 744T as a master tomorrow with an SB-3 hooked into the camera all day. Will this simply not work?
  15. On a budget I definitely recommend the AKG ck91 and 93.
  16. So on a 2 man crew on a feature, as mixers, which utility responsibilities do you guys generally take upon yourselves, and which do you hand over to the boom operator?
  17. Jeez... I'll just wait for the Red Super Mega Epic with 7 pin Lemo TC in
  18. With the Pro Module connected, is is still possible to send continuous TC to the 4 Pin Lemo on the camera body, or at least, before the module is connected? I really don't want to have to buy yet another cable for this camera. ...I'm going to guess that a 4pin lemo to 5 pin lemo barrel doesn't exist either.

    shockmount?

Does anyone use a traditional shockmount with their MKH 70 as opposed to a pistol grip or zeppelin suspension?
  20. Excuse my ignorance, but would it be possible to have a SMPTE TC signal coming out of the 1/8" jack of a laptop? It would be cool if there were a website, program, or app that could essentially act as a giant timecode clock that output the signal from a computer/phone.
  21. I did an interview yesterday and I had this recurring problem every 2-5 minutes or so. It was always the same: 5 quick pulses of the high noise, under his voice, but it seemed to be amplified when the speaker increased his volume, leading me to think it's a problem with the lav or the transmitter. I'm using Sanken COS11-D's wired for Lectro, with an adapter to the Sennheiser G3's. His receiver was going into input 2 of my 552 out of the direct out line level pre-fade to input 3 of the 744t. I have never experienced this problem before, and I use these same pieces of equipment on a very regular basis. Any ideas what it could be? sample.wav
  22. I have purchased two or three items from the WTB/WTS section over the last year and it has been a truly convenient way for me to get some really great gear. If I were to sell something, however, even if I posted pictures and serial numbers, how would my real name be of any use to anyone? You could look me up on IMDB and verify that the name I give is that of someone who does production sound, but outside of that, how do you know I am who I say I am?
  23. I always thought that if you theoretically had two signals that were exactly 180º out of phase acoustically, that this could be corrected by flipping the phase of one of the signals (electrically) in your mixer. Is this not the case? Is the phase switch then really only there to correct for incorrectly wired cables?
