    Portland?

That's a great one, old school.
  2. It's a given these days in NYC for me that we're shooting next to some kind of construction. It better yet, I just did a piece with a chef whose urban farm was right next to the FDR drive, a giant construction site and a heliport. It was brilliant and I recorded it all with complete clarity. No time to wait, of course!

    Portland?

    LA is also under consideration.

Austin is too hot for me.

    Portland?

Well... Good question, Hench. For me, QOL is not being shoehorned into a 17 foot wide townhouse duplex with 4 year old triplets. QOL is not havig to drive around the block for an hour and a half looking for a parking spot. It's mostly family issues, I suppose. And having the breathing room to continue my own filmmaking projects. I grew up in Brookyn, have a great affection for the city, but it is kind of driving my wife and I mad. And it's very hard to get the kind if space we'd like without an enormous amount iof money. It can just be a physicslly and logisticslly difficult place to be sometimes. So I hear you, Henchman. And it's a worry, of course, not to have a large pool of work at band. But, at least fior now, I've got some ongoing clients that I can continue to work with even from Portland. And maybe even focus some more time on my own personal work. Azw

    Portland?

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I'm going to reach out to said locals as the summer progresses. I know the market is much smaller than where I'm coming from (and its been really busy here lately), which isnt a plus.... So it'll be nice to meet some active industry folks while I'm there. Azw
  7. Not a recommendation, but..... I have nuked longtime clients when they get too difficult. It's rare, maybe twice, really, but it had to be done. They didn't pay well, anyway, so in the end it worked out better for me.

    Portland?

Thanks, Rado - PMing you. OldSchool - I hear you. If we like, we'll be back in the winter for a second look-see. But truthfully, the weather in NYC sucks and with the exception of a couple nice Spring and Fall weeks, it's either too hot and humid or freezing. So, I can do wet. azw
  9. Are there any Portland, Oregon based mixers out there on the forum? After a lifetime in NYC, I'm considering a move (with wife and kids) to Portland for a better quality of life. Going out at the end of August for several weeks to scout it out with the family. Would like to reach out to any locals to meet while im there and get any info. And if anyone has leads on a place to rent, please post as well. Thanks! Avi
  10. +1 for Movie Slate in the bag. Been on a number of somewhat scripted 'branded content' shoots for the web this month and successfully used the app on my iPhone. Took a little to get the pattern down for starting and stopping but the end result is great. Producers really appreciate it as far as I can tell.
  11. Wish I could! Sorry to miss this one.... Avi Zev Weider
  12. I tried MovieSlate today on my iphone from my bag. My one gotcha was that several times when I went to hit 'end' at the end of a take, I accidentally hit 'false take.' The buttons are very close to each other when holding the phone in portrait orientation. I'm either going to have to be more precise or figure out how to have it landscape oriented. Otherwise, great app. Azw
  13. I still have 2 Bolex cameras sitting on top of a bookcase in my office. Great pieces of machinery. I even used one up until the late 90's to shoot some animation using a custom made stepping motor attachment and intervalometer for my 1998 short film 'I Remember.' 35K ain't enough. But a great start.
  14. Yes it's a trrs. I'm going to get the cable checked out next week.
  15. When I feed it, it's as if nothing is plugged in and it's getting input from the built-in mic....
  16. Zack - you can feed it on an iphone 5/OS 6.1.3?
  17. Is it me or does the app not work with iPhone 5? Just got a cable made to go from an SB-3 to the iPhone but am showing no input at all. I can 'jumpstart' the SB-3 from the app, but can't read it. azw
  18. Love the staff at Pro Sound in NYC. I just there yesterday! Whether rentals or sales - they've got you covered AND if you're stuck on set and can't figure out what the heck is wrong with the thingy or you need something ASAP because the situation's changed up - Give a call and they are there to help. Like I said - they've got you covered. azw

  20. TheBlimp- You should be fine with your releases but this is also why distributors will require require you to purchase E&O insurance upon delivery of the picture for release. Azw

    Mileage

Thanks everyone! Production on this will pay for all gas, tolls plus all mileage. And travel time is paid time. -azw

    Mileage

What do people charge for mileage on a job? I'm in NYC which usually didn't include much driving to location but I'm on a doc that takes us to neighboring states often now. Wondering what is SOP for this. Thanks! azw
  23. A thought: Perhaps a more memorable URL? Keep up the good fight. azw
