  1. Max, did you have any luck with your Remote Roll?
  2. Jack thank you. Senator thanks for nothing
  3. Another issue for UK users, however is 608-614MHz won't be accessible on these (even with the IR programmer) and service will be via US dealers This seems strange- surely one of the attractions of a wideband system would be the flexibility to use in different countries. US users buying these would be unable to use them in the UK
  4. Just picking up this thread.... In the process of building a remote roll for my nomad - just reading this thread and Jack mentions As for Mix-8 support - since you just got your Nomad you may be good to go. Go to "About Nomad" menu and check the "Main Revision" number if you are at version 56 your machine can support Mix-8 with no update necessary. which is something Howy has posted in the Nomad forum. This is the first i've heard about this and I've no idea how to get to v56 or higher (currently at 55). Before anyone points to a cap, I'm a UK user and both my dealer and all pertinent personnel are currently at NAB so any advice or help is appreciated. Stuart
  5. Hi Sammy Have you secured the cases to the cart with ratchet straps (I cant quite make it out from the photos)? How do you find the Filmtools cart - any problems thus far? I remember a thread where Paul Graff said as well as being quite heavy, he found it unstable and all the weight was on the front wheels. Really nice job - very impressive set up Stuart
  6. Henry's wiring would be the last thing I'd look at. Over the years he's wired everything from lavs to my sound cart and I've had zero issues
  7. Seems that way http://recombu.com/digital/news/the-future-of-freeview_M11084.html
  8. Doug Legally, we're only allowed to use Channel 38 be it for hops or talent radios. Another option you could explore is using VHF for hops? Stuart
  9. Hi Taskin It's a good bit of kit- well worth the investment Stuart
  10. To follow up Marc's post the SuperCMIT is a tricksy mic to use even in experienced hands. You'd be better off with a 416 or similar. Cheaper as well Also if you're doing run and gun you're not really going to need to do stereo recordings are you?
  11. Wow. Peter you clearly scored a biggie!! :-)
  12. + 1 - I did a 6 week shoot in the summer with a C300 feeding it just TC from an Ambient lockit box with no problems
  13. I have found the 216 band Comtek to be perfectly suitable for clients and directors, particularly when they are dropped or abandoned, as sadly they regularly are. Also great value for money when you need a lot of cans out on set
  14. Befriend the Script Supervisor (continuity) on your job, if there is one. Quite often they're happy to note down stuff for you, and their notes get sent to the edit. Noting down basics such as slate/take/scene should be enough on a OMB job, it's unreasonable of production to expect more
  15. That's interesting David - are you getting significantly better range from the VR Field compared to the Octopac?
  16. My apologies Jeff, I meant the Zaxcom HD2USB Hard drive to USB adaptor. The RA Drive Caddy is something completely different! I have switched to mirroring to CF cards, but I still experience slow mirroring. It may be I need to take my Deva in for a service
  17. Brian, I find the mirroring on my Deva V can be painfully slow when I have high track counts, even when using a Lexmark card reader and cf cards. Ive taken to continuous mirror record in such circumstances as the time it can take is unbearable, particularly after wrap. Curiously, the mirroring on my Nomad is lightening fast by comparison, even when recording 6 tracks. With Remote Audio selling the drive caddy, it always lead me to think that slow mirroring was always just 'one of those things' with the Deva. Maybe I'm wrong...!
  18. Jeff, Did you experience problems when using the Shorai? Did the battery dip below the recommended voltage sooner than expected? looks like I might be making a return in the near future!
  19. I'm UK based, so these are easy to get hold of and are lovely to deal with www.deben.com/tracer-golf-batteries.html I'm also waiting for a Shorai LFX batt which is 36Ah, having been made aware of them by Jeff on this forum
  20. My battery feeds the hotbox via a Turnigy Amp Watt meter (so I can monitor how much Ah has been used from the batt) that I've wired inline and the hotbox distributes dc to my gear. I can no longer 'float charge' the battery, ie supply it with mains whilst there's a load as the internal battery management system doesn't like it, and I'm not clever enough in the ways of batteries to have overcome that problem. However, since switching to LifePo4 this hasn't been a problem and I can happily go all day off batteries. Battery comes with its own lightweight charger and fully charges in about 4 hours. Hope that helps
  21. Our gracious host started a thread on here about LifePo4 batteries, its worth a read. I have subsequently switched to one recently and use it with a dc distribution unit similar to the Remote Audio Hot Box. A 24Ah LifePo4 easily powers my cart setup (Smartduo monitors, Deva, Octopack and AD255 mixer) for a day. The best thing is they are extremely light in comparison to their SLA counterparts
