  1. Wtf you are talking about??? Anyway, looping was something I tried when I started out, just like others mentioned above, because someone advised to do so, but it did not seem to work for me at all, if anything it just seemed to make things worse (more fiddling / time consuming) and sounded no better. I am all for keeping it simple. I do loop when using a clip, but that's just for making it look neat.
  2. Comtek 216 series did the trick last time for me. It's just a guide track, so it's better if it doesn't sound great - that way you know they won't be lazy enough to use it
  3. +1 on the Fisher-Price. The awesome colors makes it easy for the DP to notice when I dip it into frame. Also, no RF issues due to the sturdy shielding the plastic provides. Another benefit is that it's not sensitive to humidity. So yeah all around it is the best mic in the whole world.
  4. Hold on a minute guys, I have to make some more popcorn.
  5. Oh my god, I must have had a boring day... Just crying with silly laughter like an 8-year old. Check this one: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IhmONlM2eb4&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DIhmONlM2eb4
  6. I bought the pelican for the ipad mini, but returned it. It was slightly too big and the pad was moving around inside it. They are made to "fit most tablets" and mot really specific to the ipad. I really wanted it to work, as I own several other Pelican products and think they are generally great. One would think that with the amount f iPads sold, Pelican could make one specific for it. My current solution is the Apple made magnetic screen cover and a padded zipper sleeve. The whole thing goes into the padded laptop compartment of my backpack and I'm feeling that its protected enough.
  7. Looks like regular 3m transpore.. Disclaimer: I'm watching on the phone so I cannot see much detail.
  8. Nah, a tootsie roll wrapped in aluminum foil works better than lithium for this.
  9. If, by the Porta Brace harness, you mean the "X", my back feels a lot better since adding the waist belt.
  10. A DP I worked with recently recommended this. Cleanest tasting ale I have ever had (the red label). The weizen was very clean too. Delicious. Yeah, It's north of $4 a bottle, but is still worth it if you're into this kinda thing.

  12. There's a whole thread about this from a couple weeks ago. Try searching for Pelsue right here on JWS
  13. Wow Steve, very nice! Man... now I got a craving for dim sum
  14. +1 for KeyRemap4MacBook. I first bought and tried a USB numeric keypad, but for some reason, Pro Tools didn't like it. Took me a couple days to get used to hitting fn all the time, but it becomes second nature. J, K, L becomes 1, 2, 3 and U, I, O becomes 4, 5, 6. / becomes + and : is - p is *. Older MacBook Pros had this function without the need for any 3rd party software, but they did away with it on newer models. A cut "mid wave" can sometimes cause a pop even when applying a cross-fade (especially with low frequencies). Try zooming in all the way and trim off the partial wave at the closest zero cross-point.
  15. Maybe these are the ones you mentioned? I got these in Japan a couple years ago and they have worked great for me.
  16. Great pictures! Love it. Just got back in town, and with coffee involved, you know I'm there buddy
  17. I am currently in Tokyo - actually closer to Yokohama - and here's a pic of the NYE sunset over here (Mount Fuji on the right).
  18. I swapped my 7506 to HD25 for this reason and have been very happy. I also feel that the Sennys are a little better at blocking out noise, giving me a better sense if what is heard thru the mic. Funny thing here is that on a show I did last year thru this summer, there was one person that had severe sibilance on the return from camera, but nobody else did (usually 4-6 other people per episode). Also this person's sibilance was not present when monitoring direct from the mixer. I swapped to hd25 and the "problem" was gone. All that said, just finished up 3 weeks on a reality show with someone else's kit - 7506's supplied with it. Could I get the job done with these? You bet. In the end we are all nerds. We could do it with apple ear buds if we had to, but it would not look professional. That is btw why the 7506 became standard - it says "professional" right there on the cans, so the producer can feel assured when he /she looks over at us. Hah! Happy New Year!
  19. What Jack said plus detachable vs fixed antennas. Also one vs two 9 volt batteries.
