  1. Haha, well good luck with that. A milliamp hour is a milliamp hour, yes, but in a device that draws 500 milliamps vs one that draws 900 milliamps will make a difference in how long the battery will last. In this case, we are comparing apples and oranges, because one of the batteries puts out a constant voltage until it dies, the other one gradually drops the voltage. What I thought might make a difference is the fact that the particular device I was testing the batteries with draws more current when it sees a lower voltage. That’s why I wanted to run the test to see what the actual real difference in runtime (if any) would be. I am not an electrician so it’s completely possible I’m confused, but anyway, I feel that I found out what I wanted to find out, and shared it here for those who care.
  2. Right, but... The theory I wanted explore was that the transmitter draws more current when the voltage is lower, and therefore would potentially drain the battery quicker. This Lithium AA: 3300mWh @ 1.5V = 2200mAh And NiMh: 2450mAh @ 1.2V = 2940mWh 2550mAh @ 1.2V = 3060mWh 2700mAh @ 1.2V = 3240mWh Of course, one thing that throws the formula off is, the NiMh doesn’t start at 1.2V fresh off the charger. It can be as high as 1.47V, then drops down to around 1.35V over the first 15 min or so. Then gradually drops further. So using the above calculation formulas does not give you the accurate comparison. That’s why running the tests in real life seemed to make more sense. And again the tests I did shows that the practical run-time is about equal.
  3. In theory, yes - but depends on which theory. Since the current draw is higher at 1.2V that it is at 1.5V. That’s what got me curious and made me want to test these to see what it meant in practice. And that does seem to even things out in terms of runtime. But no, I’m not planning to switch over to these. Now, if anyone could make a safe AA rechargeable that could run a DBSM for 6h30min, THAT would make me switch! (Not expecting that happening any time soon).
  4. 4:34 with the fresh eneloop pro at 50mw, so pretty much same.
  5. I trust Larry's theory. Based on that and what I see in my tests, I will conclude that these particular rechargeable Litihum AA batteries might be ok to use in single battery units, but not exactly ideal in dual battery units. 4:40 in a single battery unit at 50mw is usable for some applications. One advantage over NIMH is that these are lighter weight. Just for the heck of it, I will run a fresh eneloop Pro at 50 mw in a SMV tonight to compare the run time. Fred - I did not watch the receiver while running the test. I just set the SRC to AAT (timer), which stops when the transmitter shuts off. So, no I did not see the telemetry. Yup. +1
  6. Like I said, it does. See the above tests. It’s a well known fact. Not sure why you would have a hard time believing that.
  7. I believe they are in parallel. Otherwise it would double the voltage, right? And since you can run an SMQV with a single battery....
  8. Weirdly, with dual batteries, 50mw test, SMQV stopped at 4:40. (Equal to what I saw above with a single battery SMV at 50mw). Then put both of those batteries on charge - and one showed full almost right away. No idea why, but it appears the second battery did not kick in at all, and instead the SMQV shut down.
  9. And second run got 4h 37min on the SMV at 50mw. Which is 4 min less than yesterday. Seems usable for some stuff, and comparable to nimh. I believe the 7h 30min at 100mw with dual batteries in the SMQV is almost an hour less than I have seen with nimh. Running another dual battery test at 50mw now.
  10. Umm, just ran a single battery in the SMQV at 100mw, and only got 3h 41min.
  11. Hey Fred, yes - still testing, but first run yesterday gave me 4h 40min on the single battery SMV @ 50mw. 7h 30min on the dual battery SMQV @100mw. The paper that came with the batteries says performance should improve after the first few charge/re-charge cycles. Some reviews on Amazon say they had overheating and melting problems - BUT from what I can read there, it seems like people didn't read the instructions, which clearly says to only charge these via the micro USB port on the battery itself. The set came with a USB-A cable that splits out to 4 micro USB, so one USB port can charge 4x batteries. At least some of the reviews seemed to indicate that they had tried charging with a regular battery charger...
  12. Interesting. I have used cr123a batteries from this brand for my security cameras with great results for a few years. Didn’t know about these AA ones. I ordered a 4-pack and I’ll be testing today in SMV and SMQV. 3300 mwh equals 2200 mah at 1.5V but perhaps the resulting lower current draw at 1.5V vs. 1.2V (nimh) will possibly result in equal run time to a 2450mah nimh…?
  13. I bought bigger casters with M10-1.5X25mm stems. Unscrewed the original ones and just screwed in the new ones. Works, but the bigger wheels wobble if I roll the cart slightly faster than slow.
  14. I think you nailed it with number 3 hahaha. And, as you say the remixes DO sound good. No doubt. Just… maybe…. a bit sterile? We are all sound nerds here, myself included of course - but isn’t the whole thing about The Beatles the songs and the performances? I mean, they were superstars even heard on a 2-inch transistor radio speaker! A funny side note; when Giles did the first remixes years ago, he mentioned in an interview that he had at first tried to “correct” or quantize Ringo’s drums due to the timing not being “perfect”, but discovered that doing so made it totally “suck”.
  15. Hahaha, that’s not what I meant to imply. The mastering stage is where this would have been finalized anyway (and no, I’m not saying my ears are “better” than Miles’ either). Taste is a subjective thing. Others will of course disagree, but personally I don’t really get the obsession with remixing old recordings. To me they are documentations of what was going on at the time. Honestly, was there really anything wrong with the original release? It sold more than a handful copies and I’ve never heard anyone complain about George’s mixes
  16. I listened to the 2022 mix of Revolver on Apple Music, and it’s very bright and clear. But I’m not sure that’s “better”, because to my ears it’s almost “too bright and clear”, making it somewhat harsh sounding. Maybe the vinyl version will tame that a bit…
  17. First batch of SRC units had some weirdness with out of band interference. Specifically with walkies. After I sent mine in to the mothership for some internal upgrades, those issues went away. Maybe call or email Lectro to check if yours are in the range of serial numbers that may be affected by this…?
  18. Yes, clean the screw and the threads by wiping them with a dry cloth or paper towel, then apply a small amount of the silver paste. If you got these used, and didn't receive any silver paste, I think you can email Lectro your address, and they will send you a small vial. With an Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA, you should get 6 hours on one battery.
  19. This is all subjective, of course. But usually with hidden camera stuff, it’s kind of expected that the people being pranked would not sound perfect. As an example, a few years back, I was preparing for a hidden camera shoot, and talking to a buddy sound mixer who had done a lot of this type stuff. He told me about one he had done where he was able to hide a CUB on the wall right next to where the subject(s) would be standing talking to a front desk/cashier. The mic was literally like a couple feet from their face, and sounded perfect. He was super happy to get great sound….. But apparently in post, they thought it sounded “too perfect “, which gave the impression that the person being pranked was mic’ed, and thus feeling like the whole thing was fake. Therefore Post ended up using the more distant sound from the pranksters’ lav….
  20. I tried that particular Rycote kit with the MiniCMIT. In my view - (sorry Rycote) not good. The shock mount part is too stiff, and the distance between the mic and the rails below it is too tight, so the softie touches the base of the mount, not really helping the shock absorption (possibly also affecting the pickup pattern?). I ended up going with the E-OSIX. Works great. I have even used it with a Bubblebee Windkiller, and it works fine if you are somewhat careful. For real wind, the Pianissimo is absolutely fantastic IMHO.
  21. 1. What is the frame rate setting on the slate? 2. What is the frame rate setting on the 664?
  22. I don't know of any professional gear that needs exactly 1.5 V and stops working at 1.49 V. If this was the case, no existing regular AA alkaline, or Lithium batteries would work more than 5 minutes. These lithium AA from iPower run at an internal higher voltage (IIRC 3.6V?) with a regulator that keeps the battery output at 1.5V. FWIW - their run time is about equal to, or less than Eneloop Pro, or Ikea Ladda 2450. The marketing mumbo Rado is talking about is likely the fact that they use mWh rather than mAh to make it look at first glance like these have much higher capacity, but the reality is that 3610mWh equals about 2406 mAh at 1.5V. Of course, you could argue that the transmitter will pull less current at 1.5V vs 1.2V, but I'm not sure if that matters much in this situation. Personally, I stick to Eneloop Pro, or Ikea Ladda 2450. I know they will run single battery Lectro Tx for 4+ hours, and double battery Tx for 8.5 hours and both have proven to be consistently reliable. If the situation is such that I need to leave the transmitter on all day without any chance to swap batteries, then I go for Energizer Ultimate.
  23. Super Stick-it. Or, DIY “vampire clip” by attaching the mic to a small safety pin with moleskin or whatever medical tape you got.
  24. Well, it’s one way of looking at it, but otoh- I think it’s pretty cool that I can use my Block 19 SMVs with the SRC, and even DSQD receivers.
  25. Dude, calm down. I think everyone here has tried to help you. A simple “thank You “ would probably work better if you think you may ever need advice again. Keep in mind we’re a discussion group, nobody here works in customer service, nor does anyone here owe you anything. This kind of comment just makes people wanna say things like “do your own homework “ or “read the fabulous manual.”
