  1. "Hi, I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,my family and I came down here to London, United Kingdom for a short vacation. unfortunately,we were mugged at the park of the hotel...." - snip - -- Jan McLaughlin, CAS Production Sound Mixer Note: This is a bogus message from Jan's hacked email. Do not respond to this. -JW
  2. I"m suggesting bun this person for fault information . To the original poster , not that I am a big fan of cooper 104 , SQN mixers have much better preamps, but if you don't need more then 2 tracks on 744 , you can go without any pre in front , a bit worm sound for my taste but you can really ignore it . The 788 is completely different animal , with much natural and less uncolored sound characteristics, you will be more then happy with it for sfx , both recorders do not have real line inputs , so placing the inputs for line level do not change the colorization MS
  3. MK-4 for every day jobs , especially car interiors BLM 03 C If you do record movies or grand piano ;-) MK -8 if you do MS All the rest you can skip on MS
  4. If it 8 watt at 12 v ,it is not 0.5 amp . MS
  5. http://www.filmtools.com/triton-cine-hd-battery-block-15-ahr.html Maybe we need to aducate the camera people as well :-) MS
  6. Sorry pal , you have missing in your quote , the most important line about Mr Wexler discovery, which is that topic about , all the rest ,is just an introduction . MS
  7. No , person who did the research , invested time and money to check it out , product which maybe he wants marketing to others on his continent , or sale his research to these who will market it to you , or maybe not. MS
  8. Sorry , privet information . The LiFePO4 can handle up to 3C , 3 times current of estimate battery cell , without any problem , protection board takes care if it goes over and disconnects the sells . Bad boards could easily get bad on current peak , what usually you can see with lithium ion batteries ( regular ones , not LiFePO4 ) - in other way to say it - they blow the fuse , cause people who try to get more then 1C maximum protection which they are usually have do that mistake , usually camera people . The LiFePO4 batteries usually made to hold high current rates , so your battery is not something unique , but since made for high pick current have a good protection board , for our jobs which you need not more 10 amp , it really doesn't necessary ,with bigger battery then 10 amp , you can forget about any trouble in our business . About getting minimum 10 v , that's about the end the capacity , you don't damage the battery as it has over discharge circuit which disconnect the cells , so don't worry . You did find a nice product which is 40% real and 60% marketing , what influence on it real price , not performers, which still will be he same . MS
  9. Nice , but expensive 150 for battery + what ever cost the pelican case + shipping , something like 200-220 us$ without charger I found a battery supplier which could provide me with 14.4 v( nominal ) - 40amp or 12.8v( nominal ) - 48 amp battery with city bike case 149*56*380mm + charger for 235-280 us$ depends on the quantities FOB of china ., the weight is about 10-11 pounds max per battery . or 12.2 nominal - 26 amp in 110*75*380mm city bike case case for 180-160 US$ FOB includes charger Estimating shipping ,about 60-80 us$ per individual battery + charger The battery could easily get you 20 amp if needed . Since my son uses their products on his bike ( different voltage/ amp configuration ) , i can guarantee you it can stand a rain and works like a charm MS
  10. Yes he can , but I have a feeling he could buy a shopping basket and save 200 us$ for a new barrett and still have the same lousy comfort . MS
  11. 2 channels which are same or different ? Try to flip a fase on one of your mixer outs before you send it to the 900 and check if anything changes . Send the 1 and 2 to channels 3 and 4, place the headphones for 3/4 and check if you have the same problem . Buy a mixer camera cable with 5 pin return or adaptor which will allow you get the return by cable , it will help you other time you will not use the QRX . I also have been using that camera with cable return from 5 pin out and have never had that problem ., is it 700 or 800 ? MS
  12. It is a very ugly setup , nothing sits right , tight or secured . The good thing, he doesn't need to chase anyone , so no problem that every piece of equipment will fly from the bag . MS
  13. I predict you will get about 10.5-11.5 hours with lithium ion , if they good , and about hour less with new alkaline when you power both mics . MS
  14. Do you send mono feed to the camera or 2 different channels ? When you use headphones out, is it in mono or stereo mod? Does it happen if you listen to tracks 3 and 4 ( the 5 pin is following the headphones )? Do you have the same problem when you listen the 5 pin out directly without ifb have been involved , aka cable ? MS
  15. So what is the 280 ma stands for ? Maximum current from battery, external power supply ? MS
  16. Since my question was to Zaxcom owner in the first place , I will prefer to hear the answer to my silly statement from him . MS
  17. Is it official statement by Zaxcom to my question or what was stated in the past ,as it will be really pity to buy a Sonosax mixer to get proper working setup for my cart :-) MS
  18. Denecke will preform well with not really hungry mics ,which draw less then 4 ma each , so if you have these kind of mics, it will be fine , additional good point for that unit is it equipped with 15 db attenuator , what could be very helpful for concert or any other loud sfx recordings you can find yourself with your modificatied unit for " ambiance " :-) ,I guess you have one of the Oade or Busman units , but maybe I'm wrong . What doesn't change the fact it is not stand for standard 10 ma current draw per channel to work well with every mic . About bad contact - you are wrong - it was a good contact which made you trouble, while the unit was in high humidity conditions , the spay made it no contact :-) MS
  19. Is there any chance the unit will support mix 12 , even it will be for additional cost ? MS
  20. Dear Larry , i don't know even one mic which draws over 10 ma under 48 v Phantom :-) Denecke cant even handle 10 ma for each mic . I will take a wild guess it is a mistake and the point was disappeared , the number is relative to external power which is 6.8 v minimum 18 v at maximum , so if it with 28 ma at maximum may bring the total unit consumption to 0.5 w 0.5 w less efficiency which is the best about 90% you get barely 2 Schoeps cmc 5 could be powered without problem . Very poor specifications for Phantom power supply MS
