  1. I wonder if the company still belong to Tom Misner, founder of SAE Schools, who in 2005 bought the company because it cost less to buy the company than to buy dozen of consoles for his schools and studios...
  2. Hello Eric, I've just tried your method, it works great. I also thought about using a washer before, but I put it in the wrong place...outside of the U instead of inside. My invision mount was already like that since day one and I don't think that it is a result of bad use. Also I've just read on the rycote website that they released the INV 7 HG MKIII to replace the older INV 7 and INV7 MKII and it says that it should work with the baby ball gag
  3. Hello everybody, Is there any good mic suspension that could hold the weight of an MKH 50, a baby ball gag and a windjammer. I am currently using an INV 7 suspension (made for the MKH 50) with lyres (grey). The lyres work fines but the INV 7 suspension cannot hold the weight of the additionnal ball gag and windjammer, even if I over-tighten the screw.
  4. I mainly do documentaries and there are always like 5 mins during when the director is explaining what he wants from the talent or interviewee. I take that opportunity to observe (discretly) the talent I have to wire (morphology, type of clothes, fabrics...),, so then when I actually have access to the talent, it usually goes quite fast, and being fast and precise is I think the key to not be perceived as a perv...If it takes you three or four attempt to find out the right spot to stick your microphone or to run the cable around her body then a female talent might start to have some doubt about your professional skills...
  5. I Have got two talent wireless: one UM400a / UCR411a (Block 24) and one SMQV / UCR411a (Block 26) and one camera hop on block 25: two UM400a and one Sra What I plan to buy is another talent wireless.
  6. Hello Everyone, When I first bought my wireless, I decided to get them on block adjacent to each other because at that time I thought it was the way to go to achieve better frequencies coordination. I've got one in block 24, two in bloc 25 and one in block 26 (all are lectrosonics) I've been reading this forum for about a year now and I've seen various wireless setup: Some people have a block separation between each wireless, other have most of them on one block and other have them in adjacent blocks. What would be the best setup to follow as I am planning to get another wireless?
  7. Woaw your bag has some sort of military look indeed...
  8. Logic audio, garage band...please keep Apple out of the pro audio world...
  9. Thanks for the answer Eric. Anyway I plan to keep this mic for all the nearby sea situation.
  10. The guy wearing the mic fell from his boat, and got out of the water straight away. The cap was on. The mic is still working great but I wonder if it will die in few weeks...
  11. What would be the best way to rinse (or not to) a country man B3 that fell down into sea water. Do I have to rinse it with the cap on it or without? The best way to dry it? Do you guys think that the B3 can handle multiple fall into salted water?
  12. When I do post prod mixing for documentary or TV program (for my local TV station lost in the middle of the pacific), I have a maximum output at -6dBFS, with the average level for voice around -10dBFS. So it always confortable to have the recorded audio at an average of -12dBFS. -18 or 20dBFS is way too low i think, especially when after the shoot the director check the takes at home listening throught little crappy speakers that need to be crancked up to hear the programs recorded at an average of -20dBFS. Not all listening system are capable of translating audio recorded at -18/20 dBFS without adding noise...
  13. I just updated yesterday to a lyre invision system. However I was not impressed at all, It seems that the lyre is too loose to handle my MKH50 + Ball gag, though I bought the MKH lyre for small and medium modular. Maybe I should have taken the heavy grade lyre, Any thoughts anyone? Rycote has so many lyres upgrade option that it becomes confusing...
  14. Guess you understand it all by yourself Senator, probably like the rest of the people reading these posts
  15. For the free frequencies in France there is a website www.scanzone.fr Here is a direct link to the Strasbourg page: http://www.scanzone.fr/index.php?PageID=34&MessageHF=emetteur_liste&LieuID=31556
  16. I always wonder what was all the buzz about convolution reverb, other than recreating the acoustic of nice musical recording studio or stage. But at the same time I always thought that we are supose to capture the driest signal possible, even on reverberant space (church....), the exemple showed on the video seems a little extreme...
  17. Will happen the same thing that happen to logic Audio when it became Mac only....complete state of decay
  18. Here is link for some 'keys testing' for various wireless model (EN2, 2040, sennheiser 5000, micron) http://vincent.sounddesigners.org/le_blog_sonore/Tests/Entrees/2011/4/4_Test_des_liaisons_HF_2eme_episode.html The website is in french but just listen to the audio files. The other link for a comparison between 2020, G3, zaxcom and lectro. http://vincent.sounddesigners.org/le_blog_sonore/Tests/Entrees/2010/7/4_Tests_des_liaisons_HF.html
  19. Thanks Matthew for the review, in fact I do own two sets of lectros (SMQV/UM400a/UCR411). For 90% of the work I am doing, two wireless are enough, but from time to time I do need a third wireless and I know that those rare gigs are not going to pay off a new set of lectros. That is why I am looking for cheaper alternatives.
  20. Lma ($650) + SRa ($2300) = $2950 still very far from the 2000 serie price Very interresting to see that there is such a big gap between entry level systems (less than $800) and high end systems (2900 and more)....
  21. Lot of people are talking about entry level sennheiser G3 and High end lectro or zaxcom wireless, but I don't see much talking about the 2000 serie. Any comments on that serie? Most of the review on the internet refers to the In ear monitor but none talks about the ENG package. 100mv, adaptive diversity and $1700 package seems a good deal for someone that want something a bit better than the G3 without breaking the bank.
  22. I was thinking of running a snake cable instead between the two cars.....
  23. Thanks everyone for your answers It might sound like a stupid question but do I need two dipole per receiver?
  24. Small omni capsules are what is commonly used for binaural recording with a dummy head. And If better capsules like tram 50 (or others) were used it will give very interesting recording in terms of binaural recording of course, not for your everyday production sound, Audio exemples: http://www.rolandus....?ProductId=1081 (Check video section) or this one
  25. Lol this situation also feels very familiar to me. I always put my pole aside because once I was trying to wire a person while holding the pole with the arms, and it fell down on the talent. Now I always find that is better to be bag free and pole free to wire someboady especially someone that has never been wired before because it kind of reassure them not to have Robocop coming up to them...
