  1. David, is that label on your MKH8000 case a sort of quick-guide for filter settings etc? Very clever! /Off-topic
  2. +1 This would be a wonderful feature. Especially if possible for 744 owners as well!
  3. Good to hear you found it! Nice work by the security officers.
  4. Thanks for posting. I noticed somthing strange, on the files for the Nomad, there is a clean/precise cut at 7k which isn't there on the 788 files. I only noticed because I listened in RX2 and saw it on the spectrum.
  5. Been using Ultrasone HFI-700's for over 6 years, first pair gave in three months ago so I'm on my second pair. Superb isolation, great clarity and the comfort of having lower SPL being injected into my ears throughout the day. For reference, if you see a headphone referred to as "Ozma 7", this is the exact same as the HFI-700. Just differently packaged and a different colour.
  6. 744 can drive my DT880's 250ohms very well, not sure on the 788. That's only when I reference stuff at home though, since DT880's are open-back and unusable in the field.
  7. Available in Central Florida here. Booked last week of Janurary so far but nothing else...yet.
  8. "Clear the battlefield and let me see, All the profit from our victory." - Greg Lake ("Tarkus" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer).
  9. Cheers for the explanation, Glenn. Very informative. Explains why Zoom don't publish A-D specs for their handheld gear, some say it's likely 96db A-Weighted... For reference, 552 A/D: 103db 7-series (702-744t) A/D: 114db Nomad: 117db 7-series (788t) A/D: 123db Interesting how none actually get to the 24-bit mark. Even the best rack-mounted standalone A/D converters out there get 125db (20.8-bit). Also interesting is that I can't find A/D specs for the Nagra VI anywhere online.
  10. It can record 96khz/24-bit. Or do you mean the D/A conversion in general? (which Sound Devices themselves acknowledge isn't as good as on their 7-series recorders).
  11. Your fear is well placed if this is any indication : http://www.nagrit.com/catalog/nagra-emp-microphone-preamplifier-p-3384.html ..if that's correct, for the price of 1 x EMP, you could buy 3 x USB Pre 2's and still have a few hundred dollars left over.
  12. 13. Very cool stuff. Thanks for the link. I haven't used Altiverb since version 5, 7 looks wonderful!
  14. You should read the thread where he tells the story about it, oh how I laughed!
  15. An MKH8040 mid with an MKH30 side. I use the Rycote Stereo Windshield AG kit.
  16. The Rycote conbox 3 I plan on getting sorts out the mic end cabling wise. So the cable I linked would connect to the 5-pin male from the conbox (at the pistol grip) and go to the recorder, like you mention. One I linked is too short though, more along the lines of this is what I'll get: http://www.bhphotovi...XLR_Female.html
  17. That Manfrotto stand is exactly what I'm after for recording ambience with my MS rig. I should certainly look into a conbox setup as well. The custom stereo cable you mention, is it similar to this? : http://www.bhphotovi...XLR_Female.html
  18. Wonderful stuff, Joseph. Do you have a mini-stand for the MS pair? Or do you find a spot and go handheld?
  19. I believe it stands for "flat" as in "flat response". Very rare variant.
  20. What about a 744/MixPre combo? Mixpre would give you the extra two preamps and it's very small. edit: Ninja'd by Jon.
  21. 7-series recorders have to be running off DC power to do so, but yeah.

    744t

It can record to any combination of the three possible mediums (INHDD, EXHDD, CF). So yes. Or do you mean without a hard drive at all? I believe so.
