Firm re-inforced sides not all squishy. 3 pin Lemo adapters in place or XLR phantom adapters too...

I've got a Sound Guys Solution two slot NP50 DUAL, and it's very light and compact and fed by Micro-USB B, works very well, and is relatively inexpensive, in fact you could get seven of them for the price of an NP50 QUAD!!!

  6. Thanks interesting MKH50 looks pretty smooth too. SuperCMIT
  7. Thanks, is the width across the front (in the direction of travel) narrower than what I assume is rack width on the side, in which case that is clever for narrow doorways?
  8. Very nice, what profile and sizes did you use please?
  9. The new 6060 cable could be an improvement, I was shown one the other day, it was the first thing I noticed, definitely a softer feel than any of my 4060's, 4063, and slim, when they were new. Lets hope DPA have taken notice of many people experiencing hardening cables, and this is a new formulation that addresses the issue......
  10. No I've not heard of a side by side B to C comparison, it would be nice to have an idea of the quantity of 'softer' though I would expect it to be fairly neglible? from the DPA website https://www.dpamicrophones.com/accessories/mmp-c-compact-microphone-preamplifier "Ultra-compact preamplifier with active drive for impedance balancing. It has a slightly softer character than the other preamps in the d:dicate™ Microphones Series."
  11. Zoom F8n backup for a Nomad, because it will do the job, it's just small enough, has proper timecode, and I use it as a supplementary recorder anyway, as I have twice now in the last couple of months for continuous timecoded music performance desk feed and as a lightweight option for when it's just one radio and a boom etc. I've bought two more TX's for it for the camera hop, to speed up changeover. I've been very happy with the F8n for the money, I don't want a whole other Nomad anyway.
  12. What precision connectors do you prefer?
  13. Never once in 15 years had any humidity issue with my CCM41 or CCM4, in all kinds of conditions. 'Real issue with humidity' not encountered here.
  14. SoundField by RØDE Plugin is claiming - Having the ability to change the polar pattern of the virtual microphones in post-production is a well know feature of ambisonics – allowing the user to create everything from omni through cardioid to fig-8 patterns in post-production. The new SoundField by RØDE goes beyond this, for the first-time allowing shotgun-type patterns to be created, using recent developments in beamforming technology. Plug in download however not available yet, as of 17th September 2018 https://en.rode.com/soundfieldplugin#footer_download https://en.rode.com/soundfieldplugin#overview
  15. Yes very good points, to add to which if ambisonic is listened to in a fairly accurate 3d surround environment, with height included, the brain is able to make more sense of it, and do it's own filtering (in a 'you are there' sort of way) using phase relationships and timing information, which the brain is very, very finely tuned to be able to discriminate and filter, as the result of life that has evolved and prospered over millions of years, from aquatic, to animals to humans are those able to derive better detailed selective information from their enviroment for both survival and food. Listening to Ambisonic in anything other than a very good surround space is effectively stripping a lot of information which the brain uses to do it's amazing filtering all the time. 'The cocktail party effect'
  16. Thanks for posting this very interesting information.
  17. Some interesting design ideas but I'd be more inclined to believe it might have value in some circumstances, if it didn't have that nasty old fashioned blocky, low res, monochromatic, LCD screen uugh! Makes it look cheap, is that a great design decision? Leads one to wonder what other decisions have been made along similar lines. Would it have been worth it to put a hi-res colour OLED on it, raise the price a little, and perhaps made it look much more the part, for the future?
  18. BWAV TC is stamped samples since midnight and Pro Tools places on the timeline in samples since midnight, so in the case of Pro Tools it works perfectly accurately. Totally consistent yes. PS. Zaxcom unlike SD which attempts to cut at frame joins ie. TC 00 frames and failed, on this occasion, with a 4 sample gap, whereas Zaxcom cuts and restarts at any samples since midnight value, rather than SD's 00 frames, but Zaxcoms file joins are nevertheless sample accurate.
  19. Screen grab showing Pro Tools 4 sample gap when consecutive files spotted to the timeline by timecode. Memory locations on gap samples, to make missing samples clear. The end of the previous file is 3858768000 samples and the start of the following file is 3858768004 samples, a 4 sample discrepancy.
  20. Zooming in to the max in Pro Tools, it's easy to see and measure samples, and I was curious about the accuracy. Interestingly both Zaxcom Nomad, and Zoom F8 file joins are sample accurate.
  21. Interesting. I was outraged to find 4 sample gaps in SD 633 recordings at the 2Gb file divisions, (between the preceeding file to the supposedly continuous next file) but was amazed to discover that try as I might, I couldn't hear 4 sample gaps when playing back the music. (approx 1/480th of a film frame, or 1/12000th of a second) It was an ambisonic recording of David Bowie's Lazarus. So that proved something to me, haha, try it yourself? I did report it to Sound Devices......
