  1. Hey Jim I think it was me who originally came up with the fuse puller idea. It works great and almost seems like it was made for it.
  2. I have an ergonomic question. When you go into record on the Maxx does it require two hands? If so how are you able to do this while running and gunning with a boom in one hand? Thanks, Andy
  3. Mike, no adjustable threshold just on or off. Yes, thanks for the referrals. I appreciate it. I have been sending some work your way as well. Andy
  4. How to turn off the limiter is not in the manual. I got this info from Zaxcom many years ago. Here's how you do it. The Limiter turn-off is typically something that is done at the factory when someone requests it. Be careful not to change any other settings. Turn on the TXer and quickly press menu till you get to the "LOC" page. Press the DOWN button several times quickly until the display says CNF (you only have 7 seconds to get into the menu). You are now in the super secret configuration menu. Press Menu until you see the word "ron" pop up. The number that is in this page adjusts battery tables and lock mode behaviour as well as the limiter on/off setting. See what the number is and write it down. You need to increment this number until there is a "1" in front of it. So if it says "02" you want it to say "12" this will put the Txer into "No Limiter" mode. This will be remembered when the power is turned off. Andy
  5. Hey Mike, Do you know you can turn the limiter off on the stereo line. Andy
  6. That would probably scare me off too although I will continue to use mine until I see smoke. ( : Andy
  7. Interesting Jack. Ive used my splitter many times over the years to dry out the IFB feed and it is still working today. Andy
  8. The majority of Sat trucks I've worked with tell me they can't give me a dry IFB feed. I use either a Sescom IL-19 http://www.markertek.com/Audio-Equipment/Audio-Processing/Audio-Hum-Noise-Eliminators/Sescom/IL-19.xhtml or my whirlwind 3 way splitter and make sure you connect your LMa Tx to the XLR output that has the isolation transformer on it. http://www.markertek.com/Audio-Equipment/Audio-Interface/Mic-Splitters/Whirlwind/SP1X3.xhtml Andy
  9. Rob, What happen to the one the Versa Flex was working on? The prototype looked pretty good. Andy
  10. FYI: It's a 3.5mm not a 2.5mm connector on the 664. Andy
  11. Pelican as of a few years ago owns Hardigg who makes the Storm cases. That's why you are seeing Pelican cases moving to a much better designed latch. Pelican's original latches were tough to open so they came out with a tool to help open them. That helped but was a pain to have to carry a separate tool around. Then Pelican before buying Hardigg came out with an improved easier to open latch and they offered to replace all of mine for free. One time TSA cut into one of my Pelican cases (long story) and Pelican went out of their way and found a dealer near me to send me a new case for free since they were out of that style at the factory and I needed it right away. They told me to send the old damaged one back to them. That's when I found out that they recycle and melt down the returned damage ones and make new ones. My point is that Pelican has excellent customer service. They make a great product that's made in the US and their cases carry a lifetime free replacement warranty. Hard to beat that. Andy
  12. I'd be concerned how Leo is eyeing that cameraman.
  13. I hope Leo visited craft services before this shoot.
  14. I just noticed on my android phone that the Black Box is gone. Jeff were you able to find the cause of the problem? Andy
  15. Chris can you offer more details. How many tracks did you record and for how long? Andy
  16. Tom, I understand that this is a drag for you but you need to go to plan B what ever that is or costs. Are you saying that you are not able to do the CSPAN job anymore? You don't have a 20 seconds in a 2 hour period to pop in another 16 gig card. You could also consider buying the approved Sandisk 32 gig card for only $130. Small price to pay to keep a good client. The approved SD 16 gig cards are only $16. I would also suggest formatting your cards before starting a long recording project like your CSPAN job which means not keeping older files on the card and transferring them to another drive. Also negates the need for such a large card. I am sure you are aware Sound Device is working feverishly to tweak the firmware to work with the SD 64 gig card and eventually other larger cards. Andy
  17. Recording 16 tracks at 48k 24 bit will give you 2 hours on a 16 gig card. I think that should hold us over until the firmware is tweaked to work with a 64 gig card. Andy
  18. CBS, NBC and ABC all use Transcript Associates and they will take time code stamp mp3 files for transcription. That's all I deliver these days. Andy
  19. Hi Jeff, Just wanted to give you an Android phone update. Black boxes are still showing up. They show up when I hit my phone's back button to return from a thread back to the list of new content. I will get as many as two black boxes if I return more than once. It is better than it was before when I would get as many as 4 black boxes. I also noticed that the black boxes will disappear when I go from one page of "new content" to another page. But will return again once I go into a thread and then back out. The last odd thing I've noticed is after reading the threads I'm interested in I am not always able to enter into the "Mark all read" window and clear the new content. I have to close JWsound and then come back in and then the window that has "Mark all read" is accessible. Despite these problems I am still able to use the mobile version but as Jack said it is a bit annoying. Thanks, Andy
  20. Just worked today with a production company that is looking for a mixer w/ gear for a sitdown interview in Austin, Tx. They also will need a grip with small lighting package. Email me contact info and I will pass it on to the producer. Thanks, Andy aturrett@aol.com
  21. Yes that was true and was fixed in firmware update 1.03 Andy
  22. Cloud, I am assuming you are talking about internally being able to route time code to an audio track. This has been talked about on the SD forum and I think under consideration. In the mean time you can take the lemo TC output using a cable and externally route it into a channel and assign that channel to either X1 or X2 and make sure Mix L/R is unchecked. Andy
  23. I have a Radio Shack Digital Solder Station that I love. It is actually a Madell AT201D Soldering Station with Radio Shacks name on it. You can buy it directly from Madell for $67. http://www.madelltech.com/m3-8.html I think Radio Shack sells them for $90 although I got mine on sale for $60 something. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3132686 Andy
  24. Now I get 2 black boxes on the 2nd return to new content. This is after I cleared cache and signed out and back in again. Andy
