    CZM microphone

http://www.riverforks.com/content/products/czmproduct.php anyone tried one? Reviews? There is one youtube video about it but with out sound... looking to improve my classroom, and conference room recordings. currently use array of boundary mics, directional, and boom. quite the claims. Operational Advantages of CZM Microphone Technology Captures high quality audio No more missed comments of simultaneous conversations because of a participants’ accent, poor articulation, muffled speech, or their back is to the microphone No more worries about microphone placement or passing a microphone around to participants No more meeting interruptions and fussing to adjust microphones so that participants are speaking directly into the microphone No more fretting whether there are enough microphones in the room for the number of participants; one microphone covers the entire conference or classroom—regardless of the number of participants No worries about participants turning off their microphone Easily configured for minimal intervention by technical personnel thanks
  2. If Budweiser is king of beers wouldn't that make the h4n king of recorders?
  3. I've found a simple number system like 1-10 works pretty well.
  4. edited og post. yes I'm aware the company would have to higher a Crestron tech to reprogram (I believe they said $500/hr. Nice day rate). So I really have to do my home work before I contact them. I would be consulting them as to which features I would want added to the current template. I think they chose ipad for sexyness. It's a posh corporate office where all the hardware is rack mounted. Slick instal but not adjustable/engineer friendly. The only rack mounted gear that has a brand label is the Crestron DM-MD8x8 switcher. I wasn't able to open the back and see how their wireless are going in. This is for a town hall meeting that has reinforcement, live streaming, conference call, and recording into one event and I was looking to make improvements. I've used a motu mk2 and designed a touch osc's $5 app for live events with minimal desired foot print. Smart on them to make it proprietary...I guess This is exactly the info I was looking for thanks guys. Side note Tom have you had a chance to use the mackie Dl1608? I was thinking of picking one up for these corporate jobs. I get tired of the rented mackie 1604's that I have to use.
  5. Anyone have any real world advice? I've made my own touch osc - controlled Ableton and it was a snap so I assume it's similar. I have a client that has software and a crestron mixer with no knobs installed and they don't know how to operate. The Ipad software only has a master volume so they would need to higher a certified Crestron tech to reprogram it for live mixing. Has anyone mixed a live show from an iPad would like to share their knowledge and years of experience with Crestron products? Thanks modified post
  6. Lot of heavy breathing going on. What kind of movie is this again?

  8. Recently did a long shot were steady cam was going from gras to baseball field gravel tracking walk in talk. We only had so many fernie pads so we had two PA's re-lay pads like in the old cartoons where they only had so much train tracks so they would cycle them as not to crash.
  9. http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/KRON4-reporter-accosted-guard-opens-fire-4851791. Their are a few more stories of DP's getting assaulted. Hopefully these guys were the ones.
  10. when you say "calibrate the frequency response of my speakers in my studio" you mean eq your speakers correct? In most cases you want to treat your room first. Eq'ing monitors is a not a good idea. If you need to do a LFt/Rt calibration you play a white noise blast and use a spl meter in room to make sure your listening position is centered. Nice tool to have... Basically You do a wave sweep (free files on the net) and it tells you what freqs are higher. It will give you a picture of your room and tell you you need to treat it! I hear more mouth noises and and what not with first reflections and some traps in the room.
  11. Hey mike It's here http://quiztones.com/
  12. Wow phil when did you do the Angkor wat recording? I was there last year and I heard that it had just had a wave of development(a main road). Did you move your gear on a tuk tuk? I've been doing so many corporate sit downs lately, dreaming of far off lands.
  13. http://blog.soundcloud.com/2013/07/29/soundcloud-creator-profile-colonel-chris-hadfield/?utm_campaign=12574969&utm_content=109916174524&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Emailvision His recordings mostly sound like a server room or factory, but what a location! My most memorable location thus far is the acid mines in Northern California. Working on a documentary wearing a complete acid suit over my gear 90 degrees navigating the mines following the scientist and trying not to fall into the pools of sulphuric acid.
  14. I'm still looking if there is anything else out there than doing it as stated above. Trying to avoid syncing tracks later. I found http://www.viennaensemblepro.com/ still reading, thinking...thanks for input. And this http://www.fx-max.com/fxt/ I'm also curious about using my sound devices as the master clock. Must better than the motu's even with black lion upgrades. mmm... nevermind http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun10/articles/masterclocks.htm
  15. Not A location sound question but I know some of you work in studios. I'm recording a studio album and thinking through best work flow. Haven't gotten an answer on other forums. Comp A is recording Drums with Cubase and a analogue stereo track from comp B Comp B is used as an "Ableton Instrument" and We'd like to record the automation with in those tracks. Can't run everything on comp A because all the mic pre's are in the mixing room and can't control Ableton from there(usb controllers). Also worried Ableton and Vst's will use to many resources. Both computers are newer maxed on ram and running separate hard drives. The Album is taking a jazz approach so overdubbing is not desirable. Also would like to avoid re-amping and Again we would like to record on Comp B encase a vst automation control is off during a performance. We're using Motu interfaces and can clock them together or use TC but I'm wondering if this is the best workflow. I also thought About sending a scratch track From Comp A to B for playback and then mixing desired takes down later. I'm of the understanding I don't need to clock if I'm not connecting digitally. Over thinking possibly? Wondering how studios are doing it these days being computers are used much more as instruments. Thanks for ideas feedback.
  16. Not that we use our ears that much in this line of work but if your interested in ear training Quiztones is free today in apple apple store.
  17. I don't remember what block but last time I put comtek on red all I got was rf. just put lectro r1a block 19 for the last week with no problems.
  18. Im guessing your goal is for clean dialogue? Try dan Dugan auto mixer.
  19. For the bag where do you put your tranies, batts, tape, headphones, ect..? Fanny pack? Does the waste belt make you pee every 30min? And it looks like you live in the woods. Do you have a spare bed room?
  20. I've got the petrol and was thinking how much I don't like it today running around on a doc. I think it fairs better with cl6 and more than a few wireless mounted, otherwise it is very floppy with just a Sr or a 411. And it is by no means lighter than the pegz2, so I'm not sure why they added ultra-lightweight to the description. But I'll stop there because their are over 50 post about this topic in other threads.
  21. I've been there with the verbal agreement when the producer lost control of director and we went 14 + 2hours transportation on a 6 day 4 week feature. Crew banded together and a little change happened for the next week but went back to hell the last week. Unfortunately verbal does little these days when you don't have a rapport with them. Upon reading this thread and Others, maybe we could start a "helpful tips for negotiations" thread.
  22. Noisy headphone amp. Good habit to get into is to do a playback test first thing in morning.
  23. +1 on using "two Wireless" They never understand what hops are anyways. I should have corrected that. Another throw back to waiting tables in your ability to vocalise desire and up sell. Though I think you guys are busting my balls a little to much for "charge for everything" for corp shoots attitude. It's unrealistic that your always going to get what you want. You have to be flexible and not get taken advantage of at the same time. Which is something many people don't do well. At least all the people I hear bitching at the end of the day. If you post here that you always hold fast on your rate and charge for your lav bullet(everything) well..Semantics, the term wireless/radio usually involve mics and accessories. And Adam they aren't asking for hops the conversation was geared towards how to ask for them/up sell. At least that is what I realise it has become.
