  1. I have had a lot of difficulty with these clips as well and have gone to using the Neopax when possible. I stuffed one of my 900LA's right into the pants of a woman a couple weeks ago after multiple failed attempts to get the unit clipped on. Not the most comfortable thing to ask a woman to do if you know what I mean but she was okay with it. She had no pockets. I'm thinking there must be some brand of cell phone pouch that can work. As far as the ERX's are concerned, I use the pouches that come with the Blackberry Bold. Fit great into them and add protection. I have the first generation one's that seem like they will break if you sneeze on them.
  2. If you search this forum, you will come up with a plethora of posts regarding this but I've found block 21 and 26 to be pretty solid for me.
  3. I've been working with the C300 a lot recently and I mount my QRX in a BEC with a Nebtek battery sled to the shoe mount on the optional handle rig. It's a bit weighty for shoulder rig work for the operator but mostly been working on sticks lately so it's not an issue. Headphone amp on this camera seems underpowered to me as well.
  4. Have had good results with mine and really enjoy the benefit of being able to monitor whats going on camera from it.
  5. I think Bill is worth every penny to get the application done correctly and quickly.
  6. Have you thought about using Sound Devices "Wave Agent"?
  7. Just had a very nice conversation with Lisa at Zaxcom and did the upgrade from 8 to 12
  8. Yeah- I have no complaints about the upgrade pricing. Thought since the there is a price change happening Jan 1st then why not go ahead and get the two extra tracks now.
  9. I was just a little confused on the call the factory for upgrade code as opposed to sending it in, thats all. All clear now
  10. "You do not need to send to the factory. You need to CALL Zaxcom direct so they can give you an unlock code via phone." I see, thanks for the info. Brian
  11. Going to hit up the Zax forums to get to the bottom of this
  12. So do we contact Zaxcom directly to get the factory done 8 to 12 upgrade?
  13. +1. Ask the right person. I always confirm now after some early on burns with this stuff.
  14. If possible, rent some Zax trx 900's with recording feature and just use the onboard card to record all the dialog onto the transmitters. That way you at least have coverage even if you have no available freqs in your blocks. Other than that keep scanning.
  15. Just want to give props to Bill Ruck who is helping me through the licensing process. Invaluable. And thanks to Jeff for posting the great info including Bill's info.
  16. Like Mark, I also bring a card reader with my own cf's and hand both off at wrap. I find that I'm usually just about done packing up when I'm handed my card and reader back. That's just my usual experience on gigs. When I do it that way, I'm not waiting around. Brian
  17. Just started the process to obtain my license.
  18. Independent Feature Film titled "Sammy & Sherlock Can't Get Any" is seeking a production sound mixer who owns sound gear to work on a 14 day shoot. Filming begins Friday, September 14th and ends September 29th with a few days off in between shooting. Equipment needed: Mixer/Recorder (need .wav file format) Shotgun Boom + pole 5 or more wireless lavs (moleskin, vampire clips, etc) wireless playback (Comteks) for Director is a huge plus Payment is $100/day, meals, transportation, copy, credit. Batteries will be provided. Shooting is in Staten Island, NY with two days out in NJ, transportation and lodging provided. Please email if available and interested in position. Apology for the urgent need, our sound mixer just cancelled on us. Thank you! I see this crap all the time on Mandy. The problem is that there are folks who answer it. The scary part is, they think $100 bucks is acceptable and would be insulted if you asked for anything approaching a real rate.. I dont' need your batteries-I need a real rate. Tell you what, I'll rent you my zoom h4n for an hour and you can strap it to the bottom of your 5D.
  19. I've used stuff from all of the above, Hollywood Edge, and Blastwave FX, but I mainly record and edit my own custom stuff now if I have the time.
  20. I'm with what Philip said above. There are a lot of people trying to get into this Biz and there is always somebody willing to do whatever (even if it is seemingly unreasonable) for little or no $. If it's not you, it will be the next person or the next etc.. You have to weigh what you are willing to do for what they are offering and asking and make your own decision. If you are looking for experience and credit then this is usually the type of thing you are going to encounter. Brian
  21. I've been using the leather case that came with my Blackberry bold for my ERXTC. It's got a magnetic flap that closes over and keeps the erx inside. I also put some heavy duty velcro on the case to fasten it to my old Deneke slate
  22. Great concept to work with. Can definitely use this info in my future negotiations.
  23. I had cables made up for the cameras I work with most at Pro Sound. Ran me some cash but I just didn't want to mess around. It's nice to just reach into my kit and grab the right cable.
