I have had the opposite experience, I just got my mic back from OST to fix the head about 2 weeks ago. Dave responded to my email quickly, I sent it out, they fixed it and I got it back the same week. It only cost me about $12, I guess its a hit or miss? Then again, I haven't had a single bad experience dealing directly with them. Their customer service is top notch.

gotta hate those situations, ive spoken to a re recording mixer and he says they almost always use the few seconds of tone before the director calls action. if you at least have that, you should be good. sometimes you can never get a clean 30 sec of room tone.

if you managed to have taken the windscreen off, it usually says OST on the capsule. i own 4 TL-40s and they sound great.

mine locked up once but it must of been the weather, i was up in the mountains recording in rain/snow. I just took out the batteries and it worked fine after.
